Aug Trip from Seattle to Orlando All Set! UPDATED: What are your Trip ADRs?

Yay!!! This week, we completed the last few things for our trip:

- Paid the final deposit to WDW.

- Booked the overnight hotel near SEATAC airport for our 8:45am flight (great deal from Priceline.com -- got the Doubletree Seattle Airport for $45).

- Reserved a spot at the MasterPark Garage.

Now we just sit back and wait... ...what seems to be forever!

Well, I can always play around with our ADRs.

Anyone else out there who wants to share their pre-trip excitement???

Congrats! We fly out of SeaTac too! So much cheaper. We go in Aug too!!
I usually stay at a Marriott near Southcenter Mall, can get a good rate with Ent. Book, and they let you leave your car there for free. I found it's cheaper than long term parking + hotel, and they shuttle you to airport.

Cool! Love Southcenter Mall...and to stay in a hotel CLOSE to it...even better! In fact, as soon as we check into our Doubletree airport hotel, we're heading to Southcenter to have dinner at Cheesecake Factory. Have a great trip!!!

If everyone is up for the short drive to Seattle, it's the best and cheapest option. Our airfare on Alaska Air from SEATAC to MCO was $139 each way. Since we always fly Alaska, we had a lot of mileage points, so we used some of it to cut our airfare 50%. At the end of the day, we paid about $650 total(includes taxes) to fly 4 of us return.

c&m, so glad you posted this. We just did our final payment today and now I'm really excited. We fly Alaska out of SEA 1:30 on Aug 28 and back on Sept 5 non stop both ways Also got a great deal with combo of points, companion ticket etc.

Seattle is a great option and much cheaper. If you mean Jan, Feb 2010 though consider the chance of bad weather. The only time we went over New Years we flew from Vancouver (luckily we had points to soften the blow). If there's a bad snowstorm it can get really bad in Seattle. Just something to be prepared for. At least August is safe. (Aside from the hurricane zone we are traveling to)

My son wants to go to Ohana again. (we went a few years ago). I left it too late though and can't get res at reasonable time. Your 8:55 ressie might be good if you can get a window table and are able to see Wishes.

All your ADRs look great! Always wanted to try HDDR and would have done it for this trip...however, for the dates we're going, the only time available for FD plan is the last show @ 9pm. I'm worried my DD10 may keel over from exhaustion. That's too bad you can't get an ADR for Ohana. I've tried daily checking for any availability (to maybe make ours for even 8pm) but there's absolutely nothing. But, I agree with you, watching Wishes from Ohana will be truly spectacular.

Hey, I notice you've stayed at AKL before. Did your school aged kids like it? We booked an AKL pool view room, which was just $5 more per night than a standard view room. I don't think we would have spent the extra $$$ on AKL without the Free Dining plan. FD saved us $$$ on food costs. Initially, we were going to stay at CSR.

My kids absolutely loved it. They were 9 and 11 at the time, well just shy of 10 and 12 actually. It's Disney, so of course they cater to the kids having fun. They really enjoyed the pool and having all the animals around - you really feel completely immersed when you're there. And I know others will say you are too far away or isolated from the action but I never felt that way at all. Everything is a short ride away. We want to stay there again when we go next year. I have always been curious but never flown out of Seattle mostly because it sounds like such a hassle, but will have to look into some of the tips offered here for future if I want to save some money. Booked Westjet over 6 mths ago for our August trip but did get a good rate because it is much more right now. Hi there! There was a thread on MasterPark recently (see my post #3 for pricing): http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2201025

However, I can't seem to find this coupon on the Alaska Air website anymore.

There are other coupons on the Master Park website, so you can go check it out. We will be using the $59.95 coupon special for 5 consecutive days and the $12 per additional day rate.

As for driving into Seattle, it has never really been a hassle for us. We think of it as the trip before the trip. Flying out of Seattle means good things to us, such as eating at the Cheesecake Factory and shopping at Southcenter Mall, and the biggest of all -- saving $1000+ on airfare. We always fly out of SEATAC, whether it'd be going to Florida, California, or Hawaii. The cost of staying overnight in Seattle and parking our car would be about $150-$180 -- small compared to how much we save, and the savings are TOO HUGE to ignore.

For example, in March, when we flew from SEATAC to Long Beach: $596 total for all 4 of us return flights. When I priced it out to fly on WestJet or AC from YVR to LAX, it would've been $2100 total.

BTW, you have some really nice ADRS with some really enviable dinner times. I wanna know your secret for getting an Ohana dinner seating at 6:15pm! Way to go! Our seating is at 8:55pm!!! How do I fend off the hungry children???

Oh one more thing...which I think is just as exciting as visiting WDW is visiting the brand new Super Target that is close to WDW.

Thanks for the info c&m. The places we usually travel to are also Florida, Calif. and Hawaii. I’m sure if we tried it out once we probably would never go back to flying out of YVR … next year we’ll give it a shot. As for the ADRs and times –yes, I was even surprised at what I was able to get. My secret is my fantastic TA at Small World Vacations! I gave her my wish list with no back-ups, told her that my ideal time for dinner is 6:00ish and to try to work around that. The only thing she couldn’t get was Mama Melrose for Fantasmic but that’s okay. The earlier dinner at Liberty Tree is because that’s the night we want to try and catch Spectro and Wishes. Yikes, 8:55 pm seating is late and best of luck with the hungry kids that night!

Demi 8, You are going for a really long trip! I'm jealous. That's probably how your TA was able to get Ohana for you. At the 90 day mark, most people have shorter trips and wouldn't have been able to book 9-10 days past their arrival.

As far as Seattle flights go, for Orlando it just seems to make sense. So much cheaper and you can get a nonstop, whereas from YVR you'd have to change somewhere. I will admit though, if It wasn't so much cheaper I'd use YVR as I always get stressed that something will happen on the drive. I do remember that great Westjet Sale a while back. Good for you that you were able to take advantage of it

We are booked for Sept but I fell akin to this posting.

We are flying Seatac as we are saving huge of flying off the Island ($199 return) for five of us.

The parking lots made me nervous so we booked Park, Fly and then Stay on return at the Marriott https://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/seasr-springhill-suites-seattle-south-renton/
For 125 we booked a suite, unlimited parking, shuttle and breakfast. Pretty happy with that and well darn we'll have to visit the Supermall on the way home!

We are huge Halloween buffs and put on a haunted display each year for charity so we are so stoked to do MNSSHP just purely for our own enjoyment. Costumes are sewn and waiting. MNSSHP after a day at Blizzard beach. I suspect we will sleep soundlessly that night.
