Is there a chance that Friday might be the first Halloween party for the year??! That would be so cool if it was!!! Was it that early and on a Friday last year? If it isn't why do you suppose the park closes at 7pm??

Yes, the speculation is now Disney is starting Halloween parties in August.

Yes, there is a chance it is a MNSSHP, and some people believe thats what it is and no, the parties did not start that early last year.

MK closes early that Friday and on Monday. It is speculated that they want to take advantage of the holiday crowds by bumping up the parties. Smart thinking from a business standpoint.

A few yrs ago (when Night of Joy was at DHS) they used to start the MNSSHPs during the first week of Sept. although not on Sundays.

I dont seen anywhere that the MK is closed on Sunday of Labor day weekend at 7pm-- I see EMH until midnight

every calender does show its closing on Friday at 7pm

Is this disney's calender? I do not ever use disney calender for any type of planning
I can see halloween parties on these days as that is when iw was held in previous years.

It looks like Disney is going to extend Mickey’s Halloween Party into August with dates on Friday August 29th and Monday September 1st. Disney may be looking to capitalize on slightly heavier crowds over Labor Day Weekend. The Halloween Party dates are not official and the 7pm closes on those two dates could be due to something else. Either way, expect a 7pm close and no evening entertainment during regular hours on August 29th and September 1st. Night of Joy returns on September 5th and 6th, which is the reason for the 7pm closures on those dates.

Speaking of the Halloween Party, in past years, Disney has run just two Parties per week for most of September – one Party on Tuesday and another on Friday. This year, they’re adding Parties on Sunday September 14th and Sunday September 21st, so there will be three Halloween Parties those weeks. That means Magic Kingdom closes at 7pm on three days per week with no evening entertainment during regular park hours. It also means Mondays during those weeks have evening Extra Magic Hours at both Hollywood Studios and Magic Kingdom.

There were a few questions about two evening Extra Magic Hours on Mondays with the addition of Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party on Sundays. The bottom line is that Disney is trying to sell as many tickets to those Parties as possible. With no Extra Magic Hours scheduled on Sundays, people are more likely to purchase tickets. If Disney moved the Studios’ evening EMH to Sunday and kept the Park open until 10pm, they would sell fewer tickets. I would not expect the Extra Magic Hours schedule to change unless they decide not to run the Halloween Party on Sundays. Remember that Halloween Party dates are not finalized and they have shifted in the past.

There are always questions regarding the initial release of an operating schedule as people compare the operating hours to last year. You can take a look at least year’s final schedule here. Disney always releases a conservative operating schedule first and then follows with an update closer to the start of the month. Before MyMagic+, those updates usually came just 2.5 weeks before the start of the month. Now they come about 3.5 months in advance. Look for a major update to September’s operating schedule around May 16th. The final schedule should look more or less the same as last year.
