Aug 27, 2012 Seattle to Skagway Sailing

Hey guys! The FE Spreadsheet has been locked for editing - just PM me here or on facebook, or write a comment in thread with your cabin number and I'll add it to the spreadsheet. :)

Our Cabin # is 2042.
We got our cruise documents this weekend!!!!:cool1:
We'll be relaxing on the Wonder before we know it! I can't wait to meet everyone!
Fran

We got our docs too! :cool1:  :hyper:

Then I did something stupid. I added up the cost of everything for this cruise. :faint:

Don't do it!!! :badpc:

I did that a few weeks ago. I regret it as well. Why think about the stuff that has already been paid for? We should just concentrate on the fun stuff!

Heh, looks like my geek is showing. I've got a "cruise spreadsheet" built that lets me put in all the variables to evaluate the total cost of a cruise -- its amazing how fast it adds up! If you didn't do this evaluation before hand, I highly recommend you DON'T do it now!! :scared1:

Same here! Well, some months ago I realized this trip was ballooning out of control. We had hoped to have most of it paid off by the time we departed, but a few things (like the hotels) are reserved but not charged yet. Very happy for that third paycheck in August! I'm trying not to focus on the money until we come back. Then I'll be broke and depressed. And hungry. That cruise buffet makes me wince when I come home to a box of baking soda and a half-eaten jar of strawberry jam in the fridge.

:ewok: (Ewok has nothing to do with the post, just wanted to use the emoticon). :ewok: :ewok: :ewok: :ewok: :ewok: :ewok: :ewok:

the cost of things really balloon's fast.

Well, one good thing I've just found out is that our flight has gone from $218 a person roundtrip (booked 10/14/11) to $637 a person. Dodged a bullet with that one!!

And now, time for more ewoks.

My family will be on the Aug. 27th sailing of the Wonder to Alaska! I am so excited!! This is our first Disney Cruise! I have two little girls ages 3 and 5. We love Disneyland and Disney World so I can't wait to get saturated with all things Disney for 7 days at sea!!!!

Our room is 2022. I see someone above is going to be close to us!!!
Is anyone else doing fish extenders? I haven't read through all the posts yet though. So excited!!!!
I will not add up cost of cruise!! LOL Just bought t-shirts and fish extender last night. Plus we need to go shopping for more clothes.
On a positive, no air fare for us. That's why we're doing this cruise!!!

Welcome!!! Only 31 days until the sail away party!!! :cool1:
Have you been on any other cruiseline, or is this both your first time cruising AND your first time with Disney?

Is anyone else doing fish extenders?

Yes, there are a bunch of us on deck 2! Of everyone in the group I think this is the most popular deck. I guess we'll be the party deck :dance3:

Unfortunately the fish-extender exchange signup closed two weeks ago. We have many people making individualized gifts and we wanted to get a firm count, so the group voted on closing it down so we could all get our supply orders in, get it sent back, and then have time to finish everything up. Sorry.

But! There isn't any deadline for the meet-up! Come one, come all and meet everyone in person at 3pm in the Promenade Lounge!!

If you have a child and are participating in the FE exchange, can you please tell me what your child's name is and their favorite disney character? If you need to PM me this info that is totally fine. It's for their gift! :)

How awesome! I just ordered my FE today! I have two daughters, Olive (Snow White or Ariel) and Isabel (Belle). Do you need room numbers? I can't pm yet as I don't have enough posts.

Welcome to our group!!! I see you're from Seabeck!! My husband and I both grew up there, and our families still live there. It will be fun to have you onboard!

Here's the link to the documents so you can sign up for the FE exchange and join our facebook group:

The spreadsheet is here:

How can I get on the spreadsheet??? I am so excited!!

My hubby and I (before kids) travelled on Carnival and Royal Carribbean.

Sad about the FE exchange. I just found out about these forums last night!! I still plan on bringing candy or something to fill others FE. That was such a cool idea. I only found out about that too last night from a lady I ordered t-hirts from.

My TA only mentioned Pirate Night. But there is a formal night too?!

I've been obsessing about this cruise all day since it has become a month countdown!! yay!!!

Deck 2 is so awesome! We've always sailed on the Magic on deck 2 aft (near 2118). It's so convenient! Ds12 & I just sailed the 2 nt from NYC and tried deck 2 fwd. It wasn't nearly as rough as I expected; in fact it was quite calm & quiet. We were in 2019 & loved it.
This time we're splurging for a verandah so we're trying deck 6. :yay:
I can't wait!! :hourglass I just ordered some maps online from AAA!
Now I'm reading this book:
http://www.amazon.com/Alaska-Cruise...43441895&sr=8-2&keywords=alaskan+cruise+guide

Did I say I can't wait! :hyper:

Formal night is usually the 1st sea day. There's usually a semi-formal night later in the week. Instead of wearing a suit, dh & boys just wear a shirt & tie.

Tnbeth1972: welcome to the group! It is too bad you will miss out on the FE but I hope you will come and meet everyone at the promenade lounge at 3 p.m. on the 27th! To answer your question, there is a formal night and a semi-formal night. If you have any other questions, feel free to PM me or post on this thread. I have been on several Disney cruises and am happy to help!

Yes, there is both a formal and a semi-formal (captain's gala) night.

I don't know if you will be able to see this before being "approved" for the facebook group, but give it a try. Here is the "cruise at a glace" summary from the first AK cruise that went out of Seattle this spring:

You can't count on everything being in the exact same order and some of the entertainment is likely to change. However, it will give you an idea of what the dinner themes are, etc.

Did you make "Palo" reservations yet? Make sure you do that if there are any slots left. In my opinion, Palo is something you need to take advantage of. Its worth the extra cover charge (can't remember how much -- $15/person??). This is the adults-only restaurant and the kid programs will take good care of your children when you are at Palo (and yes, they'll feed 'em too!). If you are concerned about how the kids will fare being in their own program, book Palo later in the week so they'll have a chance feel things out. Most families find that they have trouble keeping the kids "out" of the program since they are so well taken care of and entertained!

Wow, so Palo is a must?? I'll see if anything is open.

Regarding the FE: Will there be others doing it besides just this group? I mean, I have my FE, so will just random people just drop by things? I plan on doing some sort of candy but I do want my girls to get some things too. I figure one day, my girls and I will just walk the halls and drop off candy!

I am sincerely hoping my girls will want to go the the Oceaneers Club ALL the time. My hubby and I could use some alone time! lol I think if a Princess is involved, they'll be there.

Regarding Formal night: Do men have to wear suits?

I tried to join the facebook, but haven't gotten approval yet.

I am so excited! I just ordered matching t-shirts, pirate themed, so that takes care of our family night pics AND pirate night.

Suits are not required. You will see a huge variation of formality on formal night. They won't refuse to serve you if you don't dress up but even my boys enjoy it so we don't mind. They may a bit unusual. :rotfl:

Don't beat yourself up if you can't get into Palo. It's nice but it's not a must do for me. jmho. We didn't even try it until our 3rd Disney cruise simply because we didn't want to miss anything at our regular dining rotations. Dh enjoys that it's quiet and not full of kids; we rarely get time alone like that at home so it's a special treat. Since he's the one working the OT so we can travel, I go along with it to make him happy. Now that we're platinum, it's free so I'm even more inclined to go but otherwise it's $20pp + tip & any alcohol. We're not big drinkers but each had a glass of wine last time and total was around $70. Way cheaper than if you had a similar dining experience at a restaurant near home but still not a cheap night either.
