~ Aug 2013~ Sew what... We've gotta find a way back! Part I!!

How great that you got so much done in your sewing room.
I hope you can fix the truck in a budget friendly way. It's not fun when things like this happens.

I'm here too. I bought myself a new camera - a beginners dslr -so that I can experiment some with picture taking - never one of my strong points. Somehow I always forget that I have a camera...

Anyway, I'm hoping to use your camera bag insert for inspiration to make one for my new camera. I know that I have a camera bag "somewhere" in my house - probably buried somewhere in the "office" - but I don't want a camera bag, just an insert for my new park bag. I don't want to make it exactly like yours, just use yours for inspiration! I also want to make it waterproof and add inside pockets for phones, chargers, etc. that I wouldn't want to get wet.

One of my co-workers talked me into going to a quilt guild meeting last night. I used to belong to this guild but the meetings were just too far to go - over an hour from home - after working all day. Well, they moved their meeting place closer, so I decided to join up again. I forgot how much fun they were.

Hope its nothing serious with the truck. Ours needs to go in for a tune up soon, so I can get the camper in for inspection. Its always something!

Have fun at Target today!

TOTAL HIJACKING!
this always get my attention!!! what kind of camera!

!

I am getting a new DSLR for Mothers Day and have to give DH my final choice this week. I have it narrowed down to a Canon and a Nikon.

D I am still here and reading. You know it has been crazy for me but things are finally calming down.

Mark is feeling better, thank you. Yes, he had 7 games last weekend. This is a quiet weekend...which is probably just as well because it is supposed to rain all weekend. But then he has 85 games so far scheduled for the rest of May and June. It is our vacation spending money. :)

Sounds like you had a productive day in your sewing room.

I'm sorry it is raining by you. It is 80 and beautiful here today; but we will have rain the rest of the week through weekend and much cooler temperatures.:(

Thanks for the reminder about turning the page on the calendar. I better do that so I don't forget my dentist appt tomorrow.

Sounds like a busy sewing day. I have been doing a bit of sewing lately. I finished a tote I started before spring break but I don't love the finished project. It was going to be for my mother in law but I don't think she will use it so I will give it to my sister in law.

I think you have lots of new stuff on your list. I am the same way, always have to do the favorites and then hope to squeeze in something new for my DH. His Disney days are numbered BUT I am going to save that Disney commercial about the teenage daughter that will only be "seen" with her dad at WDW. Hopefully that will get us to Disney if he ever needs more convincing. :)

Hope that later ADR will pop up for LTT. They would probably even take you if you got there a bit late. Maybe????

Hi D~ I'm still here. My computer keeps logging me out, so I haven't posted much. Sorry to hear about your truck. Hope it is an inexpensive repair. good for you getting so much sewing done!
I am looking forward to your big auction. But do you think you could send me a pm when you get a minute (yeah, like you get a minute. :rotfl: ... But could you squeeze one in any way) & tell me how it works?
I went to our local Target today. I was actually exchanging a dress I bought for DD yesterday. We opened a red card. But, after we applied for it, I mentioned using it for gift cards & the woman said we can't. I will verify with the other store locally. Anyway, I bought a ton more stuff today. Way more than I should of, but, the entire family needs something to wear to DS's graduation. So... Anyway, I didn't have the redcard (DH has it), but the kid said I could come back later the same day and get the 5%. Which I am planning to do. But, this is the thing. I almost ALWAYS have a good experience with Target employees. This kid today though... he literally stuffed all the clothes in the bags! polo type shirts, shorts, 2 dresses (matching for my DD's. their idea, not mine, BUT I LOVE IT). I couldn't believe it. He asked if I wanted the hangers, to which I said no. Then I looked in the bag, because it seemed....bumpy (for lack of a better description). And there they were, crumbled up like my son's dirty laundry. :lmao: I just giggled, wondering what kind of mess this kids mom must have to pick up. I thought , wow I will have to mention this to D. haha see I am thinking of all you disboarders even in my every day life.
Happy May to you all also! Rainy or not, I hope everyoned day is filled with a little sunshine. :beach:

Deesknee....if you ask about the Dis gift cards using the red card, they say no. But it works. So advice is.don't ask, just run the card, the discount will work. Start out buying 1 card if you feel more comfortable that way.

I am getting a new DSLR for Mothers Day and have to give DH my final choice this week. I have it narrowed down to a Canon and a Nikon.

I looked at both the Canon and the Nikon - my daughter has a Canon and my brother has a Nikon and they are both very nice cameras - too nice for me. :rotfl2: I bought myself a Fujifilm S4500. A nice beginner type that I can learn with that did not cost too much. It has auto focus and also manual focus. I'm going to Longwood Gardens near Philadelphia on Friday for a seminar and a ticket to the gardens is included. I'd like to go and take pictures of the flowers.

I also ordered a "Digital Photography for Dummies" book, which should be here by Friday.

I woke at 3:30 this morning to the power flickering. It finally went off completely at 4:15. We have about 9" of fresh wet heavy snow. No furnace... No stove... No coffee... :(

At least I can hand crank Patience, so the day is not lost.

D~

Power is restored... but now I am running late. I will try to do responses this afternoon...

I did want to post a few pictures for you all though.. :crazy2:

Here is the view from my sewing room on Saturday - compared to a view this morning... :scared:

And other areas around the house...

Josh had just brought up our deck bins from the basement - thankfully I didn't unpack them yet... I also need to go out and clean off my swing - it looks like it's going to collapse from the weight of the snow...

I have lots to accomplish today in my sewing room. I will try to get back on this afternoon to do replies. :lovestruc

Mother Nature can be so cruel....especially after those couple of beautiful days we had. I hope it melts soon.

Wow, that's a lot of snow! Another reason I'm glad I live in the south. It's rainy today but supposed to get up to 68.

i think this MOA trip is going to become a Chicago trip... suzi will already be here. SNOW?!?!? that makes me sick to my stomach for you!!! then NO COFFEE to wake up to that?!?!
oh good gracious. my heart goes out to you...

Mother Nature can be so cruel....especially after those couple of beautiful days we had. I hope it melts soon.
At this point i think Mother nature is bi-polar.

So I guess you are not eating on the porch tonight like you did a few days ago. That is crazy amount of snow! Especially for May. I guess mother nature forgot to turn her calendar too.

Glad your power is back on.

Wow - I hear about the snow but those pictures kind of drive it home.

I hope it's like an Alabama snow: fast to come, fast to go, no long lasting sloppy mess.

Hope you can get caught up with the sewing...you had been bang on target until nature stepped in.

I saw those pictures & remembered a song my Dad used to whistle all the time
What a difference a day makes 24 little hours....

My goodness I do NOT miss that..WE have had rain for the past 3 days (I think...may be 4 :rotfl: one day rolls into another) BUT today I had PT for the leg for first time (the other day was just eval/measurement range motion etc) and HAPPY to say my muscles do NOT hurt even with all the rain, so I am VERY optimistic with 3 1/2 more weeks of PT

Wanted to share an awesome day after PT met my dear friend and his son & had brkfst McD's then we took a little excursion went over to theme park connection warehouse (google it you have to see this place) yes have to say bought a few things ;) then we found a real hole in the wall place (I was leery from the outside) Mexican restaurant food was awesome and it is now dubbed "our place" when we go to the warehouse at least once a month :thumbsup2

I still am amazed I have been up and moving (ok slowly but moving just the same) since 5 am...so happy. so blessed, so had to share...Maxine coming along too

I am thinking I will end them sometime between 9 and 11am... I don't want to go too late in to the day either, because I know that people have places to be on the weekends. :thumbsup2

Guess I better plan on getting up early then!!!:rotfl2:

I had a fantastic day in my sewing room yesterday. I was able to finish both appliques on my custom order bag, and I was able to start some of the detail work/assembly. Then, at about 2pm, I switched over to my BIG auction bag, and I was able to get all of my final assembly prep work done - I have about an hours worth of work left to do on it... Then I will begin working on the coordinating applique for the wallet. I feel like I am making good progress the last few days in my sewing room - I am afriad I am going to burn out quickly though. However, I am about half done and I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.

Josh's truck died yesterday while going to pick Alli up from Track. We had to have it towed home. :( We've narrowed it down to something on the fuel line - but not the fuel pump. So, we need to get that fixed. It kind of sucks, but hopefully we can get it done in a budget friendly way.

I work at Target today... It's a rainy day here - so it's a good day to be there.

I hope everyone has a fantastic day today. :lovestruc

D~

Great job getting some stuff done!

What is it with car problems? My water pump went out in my van yesterday!! :scared1: Thank goodness I was only 1/4 mile from home and was able to park it without doing any major damage. Now it's in the shop and I'll hopefully get it back tomorrow! We can't go without it for long because the 5 of us don't fit in my DH's Camaro.

So happy your pt went well! Yay for you getting better. Glad you had an all round nice day.

Thanks for the info. I thought maybe I would try to purchase one, then go from there. Certainly nothing to loose.

D~ I am so sorry to see you got all that snow! yuck! It is beautiful in December. Then it looses its appeal to me. ;) Hope you got all you wanted done.

I am going to start with yesterday's replies... Then hopefully I can go back and do the day before too...

That is a lot of snow that has come in a short time.

I know - it was crazy... and I think everyone in MN is a bit angry.

Mother Nature can be so cruel....especially after those couple of beautiful days we had. I hope it melts soon.

No kidding... The really sucky part - is the snow line was 15 miles from us (tops)... At that line, they got NOTHING... :confused3

Wow, that's a lot of snow! Another reason I'm glad I live in the south. It's rainy today but supposed to get up to 68.

Don't be surprised if I move in with you Ariana... We'd need a Donald room too though. :rotfl2:

ROFL!!! I agree!

Well - the snow *should* be gone by the time you get here...

So I guess you are not eating on the porch tonight like you did a few days ago. That is crazy amount of snow! Especially for May. I guess mother nature forgot to turn her calendar too.

Glad your power is back on.

Nah... That snow was sooo wet and so heavy - our power flickered on and off all day long. I am just happy to have it back on now.

Wow - I hear about the snow but those pictures kind of drive it home.

I hope to too... I've been able to stay caught up, for the most part.

I will google it... SOunds interesting. I love Mexican... I did my gall bladder "test" the other day and had Chipotle - it wasn't good. I haven't had any pain at all since my surgery - but the pain I had from Chipotle was awful... Lesson learned - no more Chipotle for me... But I can have Mexican - just not theirs. :confused3

Guess I better plan on getting up early then!!!

HOpefully it isn't too early for you...

Glad you were able to get home safely... I used to have a car - when the girls were little - I went through sooo many water pumps. It also liked to overheat at stop lights in the summer... It got to the point - I was like a UPS truck, I knew the exact routes to everywhere with the fewest possible stops and all right turns. :rotfl2:

So happy your pt went well! Yay for you getting better. Glad you had an all round nice day.

I agree - I love it until December... After that it can leave. Each time it snows lately - we think it will be our last... :crazy2:

**********************************************************

Well, as you all know, my morning started out interesting...

For the first time in a long time, I really got into a swearing match in my sewing room... It was so bad that I just had to put my custom order down and do something else. The good thing, is that I only have a little bit of work left to do on it. I hope to finish up this afternoon.

Trip stuff - sort of:

Rather than working on my BIG auction items after my frustration - I couldn't stand it any more... Alli's bag fabric has been drifting in over the last few days - and I've been soo excited about it. So, I took a couple hours yesterday afternoon and drew out, cut and pieced her applique... It's pretty awesome! I can't wait to show you all her bag!

I have also, slowly, been buying things for our trip. Since the girls really don't want any customs this time... We are kind of going with a basic tank top/denim shorts theme. I know, I know... Original - right? But all of the tank tops will coordinate with our custom bags. I am hoping to maybe applique a couple of the tanks. I know Marianne is doing an applique on one of them for me - because she was able to find my color and size at a Target in her area that I couldn't find here. Super excited about this.

I also came up with an idea... The girls do not want me to do any chest appliques... They are girls - I understand. Personally - I don't care, but they do... So, I've decided that any appliques I do, will be on the bottom hem and a little off to the side. I think that will work out well.

I also placed an order with a friend of mine for some accessories... I don't want to go in to too much detail - but I am more excited about these accessories than anything. The accessories coordinate with our bag themes - and they will be spectacular!!! I hate keeping you all in suspense... but trust me - you will be amazed, everything she does is epic! And, I ordered more from her than I should have... :crazy2: So, I had to break it up into several deliveries (and a possible Dismeet) to make me feel like I am spending less. :rotfl2: There's even a little something for Miss Alli - so she doesn't feel left out. :scratchin

**********************************************************

Since today is Friday - normally, I would be shopping... And that is still the plan - I am just not sure if I want to do it today. I wasn't planning on doing any grocery shopping... This would be strictly a JoAnn's trip (for thread and sewing machine needles), a trip to Kohls to return 2 pairs of shoes I ordered that didn't fit... and possibly a trip to JCPenney's to look at their tank tops - do you know that it's impossible to find a plain RED tank top anywhere these days??? They have berry and all shades of it... and rust... but no true RED - however, it appears that JCPenney might, so I was wanting to look there. ::yes::

Then, I plan to come home and finish my custom order bag for the week.

However - it is snowing like crazy out there now, so all bets are off - and I will just shop another time if it continues to snow like this for long.

OK - I better go catch up on my posts from the other day. I hope you all have a wonderful day - and it's been great seeing so many of you over the last few days. :grouphug:
