~ Aug 2013~ Sew what... We've gotta find a way back! Part I!!

What a great photo of Max with his birthday hat!! Too cute! Also, great excuse for cake and ice cream.:rolleyes1

Glad V is feeling better. Three of my grandchildren have fevers and coughs. Selah has missed all week at school, but they are off today and Monday, so hopefully she'll be able to go back Tuesday also. She's just in kindergarten, so it's not like there will be a lot of make up work. Poor V has that to look forward to.

I forgot to mention in my last post how wonderful V's lanyards are!:yay: She seems to have inherited your skill and exacting standards. Good for her. Hope the auctions continue to go well!

I bought material to make my Revlon doll a new party dress. Don't remember if I said what she was wearing when I got her...it was a horribly made felt poodle skirt and a blouse.:scared1: Had to get those things off. Now to find time to get down to my sewing room. I just agreed to babysit our neighbor's 2 month old when she goes back to work mid-February. It will be 3 days a week, so I'll still have time to do other things. They are an adorable couple who we sort of adopted on sight. She doesn't have family nearby, so we're Grandma and Grandpa Mac.

Is the new game for the Wii? If so, I will have to look for it when it comes out. I'm not familiar with Skylanders at all. Oh, and I went to the library and got two books by Kate Morton. I've started them both!:rotfl: But I will settle on one and read it this weekend. I love to read in the winter with the fireplace going and a cup of tea. (and some sweets if at all possible of course!:goodvibes) Have a great weekend!

Oh, and if you're not amazing but weird, I want to be weird! Yes, please!!::yes::

sorry I missed abt V being sick hopefully she will be fine now
can't wait to see her lanyards I have alot of catching up to do
Happy Birthday MM now you're a big boy no inappropriate chewing
yeah right good luck with that

No email it will end up in a black hole in the universe somewhere

Is the phone number I have for you a cellphone D ? If so text is best

That's great that V's landyards are selling well. It's awesome that she can earn some pocket money for the trip :goodvibes

Happy Birthday Max! He is so cute in that picture.

I'm glad V is feeling better and that her auctions are going well. It's always nice to have some extra spending money to buy souvenirs!

I got a late start this morning. It threatened to snow last night so they called a two hour delay for work. Didn't have to be in till 10 am. Of course it didn't do anything. We had some patches of ice but that was it. Being from the north myself, it's always fun to see the panic down here when it threatens to snow! :rotfl:

Glad to hear both Jeremy and V are feeling better. Looks like Max had a great birthday party.

It makes me happy to hear that V is having much success with her lanyards. I will have to head over and check out her logo. I have not been online much lately so I am missing out. I finished my nieces multi applique princess dress yesterday and a nemo skirt but still lots to do. We are eating at CRT on my brothers trip. I have never taken my kids there because I am too cheap, even with the dining plan. Now I feel a little guilty - oh well. :-)

Lois - I wanted to say that I loved your Rapunzel dress but I don't think I got a chance to say so on the disboutique thread

(sorry for the highjack D~ )

Happy Birthday, Max...you look very handsome in your hat. :)

How is V feeling? And good for her on her auction items.

Oh, and yes, Tigger has always been my favorite. :goodvibes

So here's the Rapunzel dress I made for my 3 1/2 year old DGD. We go to Virginia on the 4th to have Christmas with our two daughters and 5 grandchildren. I'm glad I had the extra time, because I needed it!

D~

Happy Birthday to Max.

If I don't win the auction of Vs ask if she might like to do a custom order for the same price of what the auction closes at :)

I can't wait to see the latest bag. I need to sew today too.

Chiming in too with the idea of ordering direct from V Are her auctions on FB too ?
If so I am out of the running My only connection with the outside world is this cellphone

WOW absolutely stunning !

Yesterday was MM's 1st Birthday! VIctoria called me at work to remind me... So, after work - I quick grabbed a bag of birthday hats, a cake mix, some frosting and some icecream. Birthday's are a big deal in our house, and we felt horrible that we almost forgot Maxy's. So, when I got home, V whipped up a cake for him, and after dinner we celebrated. He was very angry about having to wear a hat, but we distracted him with his very own bowl of birthday cake and icecream... He forgot about the hat. He kept it on for a good 20 minutes, until I took pity on him and took it off... Not before I took a bazillion pictures though. He is such a handsome feller. :lovestruc

Then, Josh was able to get our Wii working... Some of our setting were off for some reason, and we all played our favorite Mario Kart Wii. I just found out yesterday, while I was at work, that Disney is coming out with their own version of Skylanders, called Disney Infinity... We are super excited about it - we loved Skylanders - and having a Disney version would just be amazing! It has a release date of June 2013.

I hope you all have a wonderful day today!

D~

So glad V is diong better and how awesome about her auctions! One of these days I think we'll have to have another meal in the castle since it's been so long. It might have to wait for a special occassion like when we finally convince my brother and his wife to go to Disney with us and take our nephew for his first visit! ;)

How cute about Max and his birthday hat!!! Love it! :thumbsup2

Wow we haven't done any family Wii playing in a long time. DH has been using it a lot lately in his quest to lose weight and doing very well with it. I should probably do the same. The Skylanders game with Disney characters sounds cool. Our kids have not gotten into Skylanders but I bet they would love that. Most of the time they are too tuned into their Google app games! :)

Happy Birthday Max!!

Glad V is feeling better!!! Awesome that her auctions are going so well!!

You didn't get any of the snow because the storm dropped 4 inches in my backyard. I was iced in until 10:00 this morning. DH almost didn't make it up the hill last night. Now its all gone and our T Dog is a little disappointed.

Good for V! ...the lanyard auction, not the being sick.

DH saw MMs picture and though he looked much older than 1.

I sooooo do not miss snow not shovling not tossing reluctant dachshunds out of the house on their fuzzy little butts and especially not creeping along behind snowplows trying to get to work for overnight shifts no maam Brrrrrrrr !

Thanks Chiara. I sent a you a PM on FB. :thumbsup2

I hope V is on the upswing and feeling better today!

Yes she is, she still has a bit of yuck in her lungs - but otherwise she is back to her normal self. :lovestruc

II hear ya on the ADRs and the website. I have been playing around with it here and there to see how the reservations are going for dining. Obviously I never get to the "end" to actually book anything, so I'm not sure if they are still having a lot of glitches. I do know I still cannot see all four reservations on the new site, but I can log into and view all my reservations and details by going back over to the old site (if you don't know how to get there, go to the new site, then scroll down to the bottom of the page where the site map listings are. Click on order customized maps under my disney experience and it takes you to the old site where you can view your reservations). It doesn't seem to allow you to make them there though...it bounces you back to the new site, but at least I can see my ressies and know they are there!

I have been able to get my reservations to load, as long as I sign in. I am not sure why I am not having problems with that, and others are? ADRs are coming up in another month - and I sure hope that the site is better by then. It seems to be getting better by the day - so I am hopeful. :lovestruc

II would love to see your auction pages...can you PM me the links (or put them on the FB page)? Thanks! Oh, one last question...I have not subscribed to TP (I think I may have done TGM once...or maybe just thought about it...I can't remember). Do you feel it's worth it?

Personally, I like TP better.

A friend of mine used a picture once from Easy WDW in her TR - she got it from a Google search, she did not know she was supposed to credit the person she used it from. Rather than Josh (who runs Easy WDW) sending her a PM to ask her to remove it or fix it, he posted the link to her TR on his blog - so all these people came to harass her in her TR - including Josh. It was horrible, and made her feel awful for something she didn't know she did wrong. OF course, once she knew about it - she removed the picture immediately - but he did follow her around The Dis for quite some time. It left a very bad taste in my mouth, because he could have handled that much better. Due to that situation, I don't frequent his site anymore.

Ok...I know I am not D~...but if you liked TGM (back when it was updated routinely) you would LOVE easyWDW. Josh uses the same methodology as Mike, and is really, REALLY funny!

And it is FREE! I have used both sites...and for the past 3 trips, easyWDW exclusively....and he has been spot on!

Nini

I replied above Nini. :lovestruc

What a great photo of Max with his birthday hat!! Too cute! Also, great excuse for cake and ice cream.

I agree - he is soooo cute! He tried to tell us that yesterday was his birthday too (in an effort to get more cake and icecream), but we were smarter than that. :thumbsup2

Oh no... I hope they are feeling better soon!

V emailed her teachers to get her homework to work on over the long weekend. But we all know how that goes. :sad2:

I forgot to mention in my last post how wonderful V's lanyards are! She seems to have inherited your skill and exacting standards. Good for her. Hope the auctions continue to go well!

Thanks Lois. I think it's a nice little side business for her, and she is very lucky that she can use my customer base - I hope it's something she continues to do, she won't make a ton of $$, but at her age - it's pretty good $$.

I bought material to make my Revlon doll a new party dress. Don't remember if I said what she was wearing when I got her...it was a horribly made felt poodle skirt and a blouse. Had to get those things off. Now to find time to get down to my sewing room. I just agreed to babysit our neighbor's 2 month old when she goes back to work mid-February. Awww... That's so cute! And very nice of you to babysit. :lovestruc I hope you'll have enough time to get your dress made for your Revlon doll... And I hope you'll post pictures when you are done. I promise I will be much more prompt about commenting on them. :lovestruc

Is the new game for the Wii? If so, I will have to look for it when it comes out. I'm not familiar with Skylanders at all. Oh, and I went to the library and got two books by Kate Morton. I've started them both! But I will settle on one and read it this weekend. I love to read in the winter with the fireplace going and a cup of tea. (and some sweets if at all possible of course!) Have a great weekend!

Yes, it's for the Wii. Not sure about the PS3 though... We only got the preorder cards in for the Wii, WiiU and Xbox. I think it will be a really fun game. And when I looked at the previews on youtube, I distinctly saw that Castle and Spaceship Earth - so I think you can also play the game in WDW... It has all the characters like Skylanders has, and I can just see Disney doing lots of releases and lots of Vaulting of these characters - which will turn them into collecter pieces and not just a game. I also hope that they will have some LE characters only available in the parks - that would be really cool, as well. :wizard: It's going to be a $$ pit for sure.

Glad you got some Kate Morton to read. How can you read 2 books at once? Very rarely can I even go straight from one book to the next (unless it's a series) - there is just no way I could read 2 books at the same time, I would be soooo confused. I hope you are enjoying them though. Did you get The Fairytale Garden one? That was my favorite.

Oh, and if you're not amazing but weird, I want to be weird! Yes, please!!

sorry I missed abt V being sick hopefully she will be fine now

No worries Ruthie... She is doing much better now.

can't wait to see her lanyards I have alot of catching up to do

Thanks Ariana... You could be receiving a pkg sometime in the next few days.

LOL - I know - I've been listening to the panic, and I don't get it. But if you never see snow - I could see where it would be a cause for concern.

Happy bday max....such a cute looking doggie!

Awww... Thanks!

Glad to hear both Jeremy and V are feeling better. Looks like Max had a great birthday party.

Thanks Liz!

I am way too cheap too - hense the newly formed custom Lanyard business. :rolleyes1

Are you going to post pictures of the dress? I want to see it.

Lois - I wanted to say that I loved your Rapunzel dress but I don't think I got a chance to say so on the disboutique thread

(sorry for the highjack D~ )

No problem... Thanks for the reminder... I went and stalked Lois on the Disbou thread until I found her... I agree - the dress is aaaahhhh-mazing!

Happy Birthday, Max...you look very handsome in your hat.

How is V feeling? And good for her on her auction items.

Oh, and yes, Tigger has always been my favorite.

Thanks Kathy... V is doing much better. Still a lot of crud in her lungs, but otherwise, feeling well.

Chiming in too with the idea of ordering direct from V Are her auctions on FB too ?

Yes, her auctions are on FB, but I am allowing her to take a VERY small amount of orders. Let me know, via PM if you can. :thumbsup2

If so I am out of the running My only connection with the outside world is this cellphone

Have you been following my PTR all this time from your cell phone??? WOW! We need to get you a bigger screen. :lovestruc

Ruthie

You can just put in a request Ruthie, and we will see what we can do. :thumbsup2

She should put some in your Etsy store!

Hmmm... That is an excellent idea! I will think about doing that.

WOW absolutely stunning !

I know - she did a great job!

So glad V is diong better and how awesome about her auctions! One of these days I think we'll have to have another meal in the castle since it's been so long. I would definately save CRT for a special occasion.

[How cute about Max and his birthday hat!!! Love it!

LOL I know - he is such a crazy guy... I think, in his past life, he was definately a party animal.

[Wow we haven't done any family Wii playing in a long time. DH has been using it a lot lately in his quest to lose weight and doing very well with it. I should probably do the same. I wouldn't even bother with Skylanders now, I would wait for the Disney version. I am planning to Ebay all of our Skylanders stuff, so I can put the $$ towards the Disney game. :thumbsup2

Happy Birthday Max!!

Glad V is feeling better!!! Awesome that her auctions are going so well!!

Thanks Sandra! How have you been, are things returning more to normal now that you are back from your trip?

You didn't get any of the snow because the storm dropped 4 inches in my backyard. I was iced in until 10:00 this morning. DH almost didn't make it up the hill last night. Now its all gone and our T Dog is a little disappointed.

Good for V! ...the lanyard auction, not the being sick.

DH saw MMs picture and though he looked much older than 1.

Oh no Ruth! I hope you all are OK.

LOL on DHs opinion of MM... He is a big guy - LOL - that's for sure. I am not even sure how much he weighs anymore? I should take him in to the vet again. He definately acts like he is 1 - LOL.

I sooooo do not miss snow not shovling not tossing reluctant dachshunds out of the house on their fuzzy little butts and especially not creeping along behind snowplows trying to get to work for overnight shifts no maam Brrrrrrrr !

LOL I'll bet you are very happy to be where it's warm.

**********************************************************

Nothing too exciting yesterday. Grocery shopping in the morning. Sigh.

I am on my 2nd time of meal planning, hopefully I didn't forget anything this time. :rolleyes1 I can't believe how expensive it is to grocery shop! It's not like I haven't been doing it all along - but I was more of a "buy it as we need it" type, rather than the "plan ahead" type. It was very scarey for me yesterday to spend our entire grocery budget in one day... I usually like to keep a little set aside if I forget anything. Not to mention that our grocery budget is very small over the next few weeks, because we are saving it for our meat order. I ordered ground beef, pork sausage/ground beef mix (very good in spaghetti and other meals like that - and a lot cheaper than plain ground beef), and steaks. An order of this size usually lasts us 6 months. Now, I am just waiting for the hog sale to start, so I can order that... Then we will be good on meat until the end of summer. :wizard:

I did do all of my final prep work on my current bag order yesterday... I have about an hour's worth of final assembly to do this morning, and a zipper pull to make. I hope to finish in a timely manner. Then I need to go straight in to another order, as this one leaves for WDW in just 2 weeks - and I want to get it out the door as soon as possible. I am hoping to have it in the mail by Tues or Wed. Then I just may work on some of our trip stuff for the remainder of the week. :woohoo:

Victoria has also chosen the fabrics for the lanyards that have been ordered due to the auctions. I am only letting her take about 3 orders at a time... and sometimes, I won't let her take any orders - just because school always comes first. I know she is planning to work on, and finish up her orders this weekend. Then, she will work on next months auctions over the next few weeks. I don't want to bombard her with these lanyards, I just want her to be able to keep them fun, when it is no longer fun for her - she will quit, so I think that less is better for her right now. :wizard:

I have no idea what our plans for the weekend are??? Other than me working in my sewing room in the morning. :confused3

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. And I hope to be back this afternoon with pictures. :thumbsup2

D~

So, I've been doing a bit of reading about this topic this morning... I figured I better do so, since there are so many rumors about it out there...

First off, I don't see it as a bad thing - for the most part.

The thing that stands out to me, is how it will change our touring.

Now, I don't like the idea of regimented touring - and scheduling - all that jazz, but I do see a benefit that I do like.

Currently, for example, a morning for us in DHS would look like this:

Do the FP run for TSM... Then hike all the way over to ToT and RnR - ride both standby, and hope for our FP window to open up while we are there, so we can get another ride later. Then, hike all the way back to TSM, so we can ride with our FP.

Now, if the FPP works the way I think it will... I can book our TSM FP before I even leave home, right? So, I can book that - knowing my time in advance, I don't have to RUN straight for TSM, instead, I can go directly to ToT & RnR to ride standby until my TSM time is available. So, that just saved me a half mile or more? Right. And about 20 minutes. Right. Then, say I know that I have a 50's PT ADR at 11:30... Meals usually take about an hour - so I could schedule another FP around 1 (if there is that time slot available, of course) for another area of the park. So, we could head that direction after lunch and hang out in that area for a while. Then, say our plan is to leave and come back later for Fantasmic... So, I would schedule another FPP for later in the evening, we can head directly there when we come back to the park.

I see this as saving many miles and many hours of criss crossing the park. And I like that.

However, there are other rumors that I don't like, which I am not going to waste my time worrying about, until Disney confirms/denys them.

So, I hope that all of this is ironed out by the time we take our trip in August - I suspect it will be, because I assume they will want it in tip-top shape for their summer crowds.

D~

A friend of mine used a picture once from Easy WDW in her TR - she got it from a Google search, she did not know she was supposed to credit the person she used it from. Rather than Josh (who runs Easy WDW) sending her a PM to ask her to remove it or fix it, he posted the link to her TR on his blog - so all these people came to harass her in her TR - including Josh. It left a very bad taste in my mouth, because he could have handled that much better. Due to that situation, I don't frequent his site anymore.

Oh yeah...me and Josh...we are buddies

Glad you got some Kate Morton to read. How can you read 2 books at once? Very rarely can I even go straight from one book to the next (unless it's a series) - there is just no way I could read 2 books at the same time, I would be soooo confused. I hope you are enjoying them though. Did you get The Fairytale Garden one? That was my favorite.

I'm the same way D. I LOVE to read...my Kindle Fire is a part of me for sure. I try to time things right so I finish a book when it's time to go to bed, so I don't have to pick up another one and start reading that same day. It is just too confusing to me. I still have the plot of the last one in my head and sometimes it doesn't jive with the new book  I will have to look up Kate Morton. I just finished re-reading one of my favorite series (Diana Gabaldon - Outlander) and am in need of something new. But I'm in the bad situation that we leave for vacation in a week...so I don't want to be almost done with something when we leave and have to start something new in the middle of the plane ride :headache: So I have to either find a quick read that I can finish this week, or a series that will take me a while.

I see this as saving many miles and many hours of criss crossing the park. And I like that.

I haven't really given the FPP much thought, but this sounds like it could be really helpful. I don't use many FPs anyway, so it should be easy to plan them out like that.

Hey, anyone know if those new wristbands will be given to people that don't book a package?? We always do room-only and get our tickets from either UnderCover Tourist or AAA for a little discount. It doesn't look like they have any turnstyles at MK anymore from a picture I saw, so I would assume they give them to everyone :confused3 I'll have to go scope out a current TR to see.

Have a great weekend D!

PS. We are at 131 days til MOA!!! :dance3: <---- see that's you, Mo, and I....aren't we cute!

Good Morning!

Imagine my surprise to see my Rapunzel dress on your TR! Thanks so much for the compliments! It was fun to make and Charlotte really loves wearing it, so it's all worth it. Thanks to others for their comments too. It really is encouraging.:goodvibes

Lol...I'm not really reading two books at once. I can't stand to be idle and I found myself where I couldn't get to the book I was reading, so I picked up the one next to me and started it. The one I'm currently reading is the Forgotten Garden. I must say I'm enjoying it so far, but I haven't been reading as much as I'd hoped. DH informs me that tomorrow will be all day football, so that's my cue to read all day.:thumbsup2

Thanks for sharing that info about Josh from easyWDW. I am dismayed that this happened to anyone.:sad2: That was a terrible way to handle the situation! I do love touring plans anyway, so that will be my go to place from now on! No more easy WDW for me either!

Two of my DGDs are much better, but the 15 month old is having quite a time with it. Now my DD has it too...and she is newly expecting! So she can't take anything at all. I'm sure they'll be fine eventually, but it does take time. Glad V is getting at least some of her assignments to complete before Tuesday. Make-up work is the pits!

I just spent a huge amount on groceries at a place that sells mostly organic. I said exactly what you said: I hate to spend all I've got for food budget in the first couple of days. Makes for a loooong two weeks! We get all our meat from a place that raises their own cows, chickens and hogs. So much better than what you get pre-packaged and loaded with hormones and God only knows what else! Tends to be cheaper in the long run too. That ground beef/sausage combo sound good. I may try that.

Have fun this weekend and in your sewing room.

ETA: About the FPP, I haven't heard a lot about them, but your thoughts sound right on. They can be used to advantage, especially at HS! The other place it could work well is at Epcot for Test Track and Soarin. It will be interesting to follow this and see how it all turns out.

happy to hear V is feeling better! and happy bday to Max, he looks cute in his hat!

I need to read up on the FP+ too...but think it might be a bit different for us since we will be getting the premier AP (for both DLR/WDW) from what I've heard from Tink.

hope you get a bunch of sewing done this weekend!
