~ Aug 2013~ Sew what... We've gotta find a way back! Part I!!

I have one more trip related dillema... If we have to take 2 days off of our trip, I am left with 2 extra TS meals that will be OOP...

I am thinking - it will be cheapest and easiest to do our CRT dinner OOP... Now the smart thing would be to swtich it to a breakfast meal, but that just won't work with our itinerary...

I've figured the price of this meal to be $71.83 per person (at the most expenive price point - even though we are going during value season on a week day - I'd rather this meal be cheaper than planned when we get there) - that price includes Tax and Gratuity, so the total for this meal would be $215.49. As most of you know - V is trying to earn $$ to pay for part of this meal, so that is not an issue...

I guess, my question is... I looked on Allears for the menu/price information - Does anyone know of anywhere that has more accurate price info, vs the vague Allears "the price varies by day of the week and season" - LOL I'd like to pinpoint this a little better.

D~

I don't know of any place better...because of the changes in seasons etc on the meal prices...but I do remember that the last time we went (a year ago) we decided that doing it out of pocket was a better use of meal credits... Because, most of our TS meals were in the 150 plus range, and our CRT was only in the 250 range... more like one and a half as opposed to 2 credits...(hope that made sense.)

I am on the laptop in the studio now, so I can't find my folder with all the info in it... but that seems to be the right numbers....

Hi D :wave2: I was looking on Craig's List and found an old singer (1953) in a cabinet for $30!! So I went to look at it and of course bought it  Anyway, I've narrowed it down to a Singer 15 (Isn't Patience a 15?). I'm trying to figure out which version of the 15 it is. The front looks exactly like Patience, but I was wondering if you could post a picture of her back?? It has a motor on the back but I don't know where the belt is :confused3 I didn't play around with it too much last night. Is patience a 15-90 or 15-91? I did plug it in and it seems to work, but I haven't tried to sew with it yet. It is pretty dirty and dusty! The cabinet needs some TLC and it's not as cool as the one Patience came in, but I think it will refinish nicely! I probably won't have much time to tinker with it until spring break in a couple of weeks, but I'm looking forward to it! Thanks for your help!

D~ I am doing well. I am beginning to stress about what needs to be done and I have orders that I need to do so I will most likely be relocating my sewing area to the dining room table so we can do the construction. I may try to talk my dad into a built in area for my sewing and embroidery machines.

Also I need to work on our trip stuff but the last 2 weekends were dance competition weekends and they take so much out of me. Thankfully I have no where to go until Wednesday night so I am going to try and work on some things tonight and tomorrow.

I would do CRT OOP I remember seeing the pricing somewhere but don't remember where. Will look later.

Thanks for thinking of me.

Hmmmmm And I always thought it would be better to pay OOP for a breakfast than CRT

If you keep it as dinner at most expensive it's $71.83 (including tax and gratuities) for each of you and say breakfast at Tusker at most expensive is $33 and say CP is $28.75 so $61.75 (but you must add tax and gratuities...) interesting. with a $10 difference..... BUT one other thing to look at is your non character meals, they may be cheaper than the characters. In the end tho, It will probably be just a difference of a couple dollars here and there.

Switching to breakfast would be cheaper. I honestly preferred the dinner when we went.

I'll have to do some OOP too and it's a bit of a battle to figure out what is right. I'm thinking it might be cheaper to pay OOP for our non character meals.

It does seem simpliest to just pay for CRT tho!

speaking of V's lanyards, I know I need 1 for V so if your V is interested let me know.

Real quick...

Stephanie... Patience is a 15-91... You can tell the difference because the 15-91 is gear driven (no belt) and the 15-90 has a motor but it's belt driven. :) If you want more info - there is a really good article on Sew-Classic about all the differences in the 15s... Also it's a great article about some of the things that may need to be refurbed on it. Here's the link: http://blog.sew-classic.com/2008/10/05/singer-1591-sewing-machine-review.aspx

Erin... In most cases it would be better to pay for two of my other meals OOP, but since I am using 2 extra credits, I am pretty sure that it's cheaper to pay for the one CRT dinner than it would be to pay for 2 of my other meals... I am going to work through them in the next few days to determine for sure... It's not like we need dessert at every meal. ;) If it's any of them - I think it might be LTT and Sci-Fi??? I plan to check those first.

OK - I must get back to work... Soooo much on my plate today.

D~

Thanks D! I've gone back and looked at your links on your first PTR but some of them have changed, so that helps! Looks like we have twins :thumbsup2 Your links are GREAT!

Hey D~, I think I've only posted once before on your reports, but I've read them all! I especially love how you've restored your sewing machines. I have my mother's Singer (1950s version) but I haven't used it in years, in favor of my 1970s-era Viking. One day, if I can have a designated sewing room, I would like to restore the Singer!
Where do you post your auction items? You can PM me the info, because I would LOVE to see them!

[COLOR="Purple"
I'd almost forgotten about it completely, when Mo gave me a similar idea... So I brought it back and decided to do it for March's auction. I drew out the applique yesterday, and I hope it goes together like my mind wants it to. It's going to be a little intense - I am afraid... But hopefully it will turn out to be a fun bag. ::yes::
D~

The Channing Tatum bag idea?!?!?!
I knew you'd love it!!! :lmao:

Your girls are SO BEAUTIFUL!!!! even silly they are beautiful!!! those piercing eyes!!!

finally getting caught up on my threads....your new bags are very cute!
the girls "photo shoot" have some great pictures, even the funny ones!
nice your work friends gave you a welcome back party, bummer you missed it!
bummer about the dryer and your budget issues, IMHO better to cut a couple of days from your trip then having to cancel the whole thing!
I started my TR today from our DLR trip last week, its starts on page 31 if you want to take a look!

The Peace Mickey bag is very cute.

I love the pictures of your girls. Congratulations to your daughter for getting her braces off! That's a huge milestone.

Your planner pages are adorable. Do you mind if I ask which type of photoshop you use? We just bought a DSLR and I am thinking of looking into a photo editing program.

The girls are beautiful !! The place Alli chose to take the pictures is so pretty!

Your trip will come together! Sometimes changes are made for budget but it will be great no matter how many days you're gone.

Enjoy your day! ARuth

D, I hope that Disney comes out with a really good code for you so you don't have to knock any days off. I talked to Nicki the other day and she is staying two nights at a value in May and it is costing her over $200 for a value. It has gotten to the point that none of us are going to be able to afford to stay on property anymore.

I hope your work on your bag went well today.

I loved the references too... It was such a fun movie! It didn't surprise me at all that it was directed by John Lasseter, he is just amazing! I did not pause the movie - but I did hear that if you did, there were Hidden Mickey's all over - which is cool.

Thanks for the compliments on the pictures. :lovestruc

He sure is!! Yes it was pretty cool to see the things they pointed out in the pause screen. The kids kept asking why we had the movie paused and if we could just watch it already. :rotfl2:

Glad you hopefully have it figured out on the dryer issue.

I hope things work out for your Disney Trip so you can stay and do everything you want.

I barely turned on my computer this weekend so I got behind again!

Great pictures of your girls!

I need to make a chart like yours for my Meal and Snack credits! I kept forgetting how many snacks I had left this last trip. I try to carry the latest receipt but I usually have a lot of receipts to dig through.

I wish Disney would let us know what is going on with the discounts for this summer/fall. For my Oct trip with DH, we want to stay at POR but that is relying on free dining. Now that it looks like they won't be offering free dining, I may need to switch us to a value. I really need to book soon and wish I had more information.

I hope you had a nice weekend. And thanks for the compliments on the girls' pictures... I love seeing the crazy things they do!

I do like my meal chart - but like I said, I printed it off last year and never used it - it was just so much easier to look at my cheat sheet every day and commit to memory which meals I had budgeted for that day.

I agree - this "no discount" think is just too much for me, I hope they understand that people only have so much so spend - so they are going to see many shortened trips this year because most people can't afford to take them with out the discounts - if they can afford to take them at all. Sigh.

I have one more trip related dillema... If we have to take 2 days off of our trip, I am left with 2 extra TS meals that will be OOP...

D~

Yes... I did quote myself...

OK - so I did some ADR switching yesterday... First of all - I switched my CRT dinner time. It was scheduled for 6:45, Erin and I were discussing how long a CRT meal would take, and I got to thinking... If our ADR time is 6:45 - at the END of dinner - we most likely won't get seated until at least 7:15, then the meal itself takes at least an hour... The earliest we'd probably get out of there is 8:30, the park closes at 10pm that night, and that's the night the girls and I were planning to explore FLE - so that only leaves us an hour and a half to spend some time there... That's so not going to be enough time.

So, I did a search on the WDW website (which surprisingly has been working for me the last few days) and found a CRT dinner ADR for 4:20... This is NOT an ideal time for us - considering that we have an 11:30 LTT lunch scheduled this day...

The plan is... Get to the park in time for AM EMH... Ride all our favorite rides in the frontier area of the park (everyone that knows us - knows that we can stay busy over here for hours)... Then we will go have lunch. We will leave the park immediately after lunch (about 12:45) and head back to the resort to rest - we will only have max 2 hours to rest - but I think it will be important to do this day. We will leave the resort to head back to MK at about 3:30. We will have our Dinner at CRT, and hopefully be back out into the park by 6:30... Which will give us pleanty of time to explore FLE. I still may continue to try and get an ADR closer to 5pm - so we can have a bit more rest time in between... but I kind of like to eat earlier anyways... :confused3

I do have one important question for you all... As Erin and I were talking about this yesterday, she asked me a question that I didn't know the answer to - but it's a valid question that could come into play for us... If you are paying OOP for a TS meal (non-buffet, like LTT or Sci-Fi) - do you have to buy meals for each person? Or can you split a meal?

This could be very helpful for us this day - considering we have 2 TS meals scheduled, and I am over on TS credits...

Well... This was really heart felt and made me cry. LOVE YOU!!!

Awww... Didn't mean to make anyone cry... But I love ya too! :lovestruc

Nini

Oh - I did find an answer to this yesterday when I was rescheduling my ADR online... For CRT, since you have the choice of using the DDP to hold your reservation, or paying for the meal in advance... It tells you how much the meal costs... In our case, the cost of the meal is $200.88. :thumbsup2 So, now I can definately budget out our meals and choose the ones that will be most cost effective. :)

D~ I am doing well. I am beginning to stress about what needs to be done and I have orders that I need to do so I will most likely be relocating my sewing area to the dining room table so we can do the construction. I may try to talk my dad into a built in area for my sewing and embroidery machines.

I hope you are able to get everything figured out... I wish I lived closer.

Awww... I always wonder how you are doing.

I hope you were able to get everything done last night... HOpe you find the time today as well.

No worries about CRT costs - I figured it out - and replied to Nini above with my findings. :thumbsup2

It does seem simpliest to just pay for CRT tho!

speaking of V's lanyards, I know I need 1 for V so if your V is interested let me know.

I know we chatted yesterday... And I did some figuring... Thanks for the ideas - because I did check our non-character meals first. Most of our breakfasts cost us average about $110 including tip. Keeping in mind that CRT is 2 credits - I would have to pay for 2 meals OOP... I did some figuring yesterday - and you are right... It does work out cheaper to do 2 other meals... I think I am going to do LTT and Sci-Fi? The two of them, with tip only come up to be about $160... And depending on what answers I get to our question above, it may be even cheaper. :thumbsup2

I am honestly not sure about V's lanyards - as of now, she has a couple of people who want them, but I have not been able to get her back into the sewing room... I hope to nudge her up there this weekend - but I am just not sure. She told me, a few weeks ago that she'd rather just make them for auctions, because she doesn't like the pressure of having to make them on demand. So, I was just letting it be for a while and hoping she gets the urge to make a few more soon... I think that once we get closer to our trip - she will feel the need. :confused3

Thanks D! I've gone back and looked at your links on your first PTR but some of them have changed, so that helps! Looks like we have twins Your links are GREAT!

I have heard that some of my links are not working... It seems that the tutorial I found originally has been removed from the site. :( I have not had a chance to dig around out there to find anything comparable.... So if you find anything - please let me know, and I will add the links to that page. :thumbsup2

Hey D~, I think I've only posted once before on your reports, but I've read them all! I especially love how you've restored your sewing machines. Welcome back! I will send you a PM here shortly... And if I forget (which I've been known to do) - please send me one. :lovestruc

The Channing Tatum bag idea?!?!?!
I knew you'd love it!!!

Your girls are SO BEAUTIFUL!!!! even silly they are beautiful!!! those piercing eyes!!!

LOL No, it is NOT the Channing Tatum bag... As we discussed the other day - I have no idea who he is. :scratchin

Thank you... I just love the mischief in their eyes that those pictures show - it's definately part of their character. ::yes::

finally getting caught up on my threads....your new bags are very cute!
the girls "photo shoot" have some great pictures, even the funny ones!
nice your work friends gave you a welcome back party, bummer you missed it!
bummer about the dryer and your budget issues, IMHO better to cut a couple of days from your trip then having to cancel the whole thing!
I started my TR today from our DLR trip last week, its starts on page 31 if you want to take a look!

Nice to have you back Lisa...

I agree - I'd rather do a "short" trip than nothing at all. However, taking off a couple of days makes my "short trip" 10 days - which is nothing to sneeze at. LOL And I shouldn't be so sad about it... The funny part, when Josh was adding trip funds to our budget the other day - once we hit September, I told him that he could just zero it out after that... You know what he told me? "Aren't you going to plan another trip?" ROFL... :crazy2: Well... Now that you mention it... :rotfl2: I told him that he better leave it there. LOL

I will try to get to your PTR today to check it out... I have a really busy day ahead of me - but I am anxious to hear how it went.

Thank you Ashley!

Hmmm... Let me see... I use Photoshop Elements 7... I am sure they have a newer version out there - but I have no problems making anything I want to make with this one - so I'll probably keep it forever. :lovestruc

The girls are beautiful !! The place Alli chose to take the pictures is so pretty!

Your trip will come together! Sometimes changes are made for budget but it will be great no matter how many days you're gone.

Enjoy your day! ARuth

Thank you Ruth - so glad to have you back... I sincerely LOVED the pictures you shared with me - I know I've gushed about them everywhere... But especially that picture of Carrie with Pluto... Seriously THAT is why I do this - I love seeing the magic!!!

You are right - our trip will be magnificant... Even if it is only 10 days... LOL I need to quit being so greedy about our trips... I just feel like the rest days are so important (not like you really rest anyways), and if you go any less than that - it seems like there just isn't time for them. But you are right - it will be fun regardless.

Me too Kathy... I totally agree with Nicki... Right now, I have a room only discount code - so I shouldn't complain - it makes our room a bit more than a Value... But still... Disney needs to come out with something... I can't even really book airfare until I know if I can afford to stay that long - ya know? So, it's a bit frustrating.

He sure is!! Yes it was pretty cool to see the things they pointed out in the pause screen. The kids kept asking why we had the movie paused and if we could just watch it already.

Glad you hopefully have it figured out on the dryer issue.

I hope things work out for your Disney Trip so you can stay and do everything you want.

Thank you Sandra - I am sure things will work out... It just might not play out like I'd originally intended. The problem is that I was SPOILED by our trip last year - it was so budget friendly, thanks to the great code, and now I am ruined. LOL

**********************************************************

Yesterday went amazing in my sewing room - I was able to accomplish a lot. My next bag is ready to be appliqued today... I plan to get started on that right away this morning. I also finished quilting my auction bag - well almost- I have 2 small pieces left to quilt, which shouldn't take me more than 20 minutes to finish. I hope to start and finish my applique today, and also totally finish quilting my auction bag.

As mentioned above in some of my comments... I am working on our alternate trip and getting my ducks in a row for that. I was able to book the necessary ADRs that we need if our trip does get shortened. So, we have 2 possible sets of dates... The original trip (which is still booked) is Aug 19-30. The alternate trip would be Aug 20-29... This is the only way I could work it so that none of our MK days would have to change... As you all know - that BoG ADR is impossible to get, so there is just no way I could lose that day.

I also moved around some of our ADR times to work better with our schedule and the way we like to tour... Which I still need to go through our planning pages to make edits reflecting these changes. I hope to dabble at that a little bit today - while I am on sewing room breaks, because if I don't do it right away, I may forget - and that wouldn't be good.

I had my City Council meeting last night - it went very smoothly... It was the first meeting in well over a year that didn't go over 3 hours. :crazy2: After so much of having the rug pulled out from under our feet - I feel like we are finally getting traction again. It's a good feeling.

Allison woke up feeling sick this morning... I was wondering about that last night when I got home from my meeting - her cheeks were all red... which is a sure indicator that she isn't feeling well - but she does get red cheeks when she is really tired too - so I just thought she was tired. Imagine my surprise when I got up at 6am this morning and she was up watching TV... So, hopefully she will be back to herself soon.

Well, I better get a move on my day - I have so much on my plate that I want to accomplish. I hope you all have an amazing day! :lovestruc

D~

You are certainly proof that if it's not one thing, it's another! :sad2: Now your dryer?? Bummer. You are the voice of reason in not getting more dryer than you need, so good for you!

I'm sorry your refund isn't going to stretch as far as you'd hoped for your trip. I know you'll do amazing with your auctions, but don't forget to call and check once in a while for any pins attached to your name. I've gotten a few over the years that were a total surprise to me.:wizard:

No pictures of the goose outfits...I'm sort of embarrassed about the whole thing since I'm not sure anyone actually still dresses a goose any more. They did turn out cute, though, and my dear sweet MIL is 90 and loves her goose! So I was glad to do them for her. The Big Give item I'm working on is a holder for a Kindle Fire. I got a tutorial online and changed it up quite a bit to better suit the recipient. It's been a fun project and I'll post a picture of that once she receives it.

I know what you mean about Brave. We rented it from redbox and didn't even finish watching it. After hearing all the raves, I was prepared to love it, but nothing about it appealed to us. We tried to rent Wreck it Ralph over the weekend, but it was always out. We did go to the theater and see Safe Haven and really liked it. We go to matinees because the price of movies at night is so ridiculous. :scared:

Hope you got a lot done in your sewing room yesterday and have a good start on today. I need to go to the store this morning for a few grocery items and then I'll finish up the Big Give item. I just have maybe an hour more of work on it. Have a great day!:flower3:

Hope you have a great day and this my friend

is the beautiful Channing Tatum...
I left it HUGE for a reason... now i will come to your report daily for this post.....

:cloud9:

I guess we were typing at the same time today. I had typed out my response earlier and then lost everything, so had to start over. Hate when that happens.

I just wanted to comment on your question. You can order whatever you want when you are paying out of pocket. DH and I split meals constantly at Disney b/c it's just too much food for us. We are almost always on the dining plan, but when we took our DGD last April, we weren't and we ordered her meal and one for the two of us to split. It's a great way to go.

I'm so glad you got a lot accomplished in the sewing room. I went to a class for my new machine yesterday and actually learned a few new things! The instructor calls her sewing space her playroom. I like that!

Also, it's great that your council meeting went well. That's a stress you don't need in your life. So, glad it's coming together.

Hope Allie feels better soon!
