I NEED SOME HELP PLEASE!

WE CAN'T AFFORD TO GO TO FLORIDA AGAIN UNTIL 2005 BUT BECAUSE OF MY DAUGHTER'S AWKWARD SCHOOL HOLIDAYS WE WOULD NEED TO GO ABOUT 10TH AUGUST. WOULD IT BE BEST TO LEAVE IT UNTIL EASTER 2006?? I EXPECT EASTER WILL BE LESS BUSY BUT WHAT'S THE WEATHER LIKE THEN?

THERE WILL BE AT LEAST 4 ADULTS AND 2 KIDS AND WE WILL PROBABLY RENT A HOUSE ( THIS IS WHAT WE NORMALLY DO). WE WANT TO GO FOR 3 WEEKS THOUGH SO ARE CONSIDERING A 2-CENTRE HOLIDAY (2 WEEKS IN ORLANDO, 1 AT THE BEACH) - THOUGHTS PLEASE?!?!

Hi SEVANS2208 ... We've done Easter last three years.. weather has been very good, equivalent to a hot UK summer. End of March can throw up occaisional storms, but April has been near perfect. From what I hear about July/August weather I would certainly advise you to choose Easter instead.

Crowds at easter can be very heavy, but with early starts we've had few problems... we've found that the week after Easter is noticeably quieter than the build-up.

We're soon off for our 3rd villa holiday... with your group you'll certainly want somewhere to chill when the kids are tired... pretty difficult in hotels or small suites.

We're doing 9 days orlando and 7 on the Gulf this time, and we've booked all our accommodation direct..2 weeks at the parks and a week on the coast sounds like heaven.

I suspect the main reason for you to pick the summer option could be not having the willpower to stay away for another year!! ;) ..but IMHO the spring weather should be better for us brits!

Good luck whatever you decide!

Thank you!

We normally go later in August/Sep. and can cope with the crowds & the weather! I just wondered if easter was busier still, I don't think the oldies in the group could cope with it much busier! We're the same as you though - early starts and (hopefully) early finishes, followed by a cool off in the villa pool - bliss!

You're right - 2005 seems long enough away but 2006???????? I'd like to go NOW!!

Can you get villas on the coast? We've only stayed at a hotel in St. pete's before so don't know much about it.

p.s. enjoy your trip - I'm very jealous.

...you can get villas on the coast but they are pricier than Orlando area.. I presume that the competition around Orlando keeps the prices down a bit. We were faced with villas around £1000 week at xmas on the coast (in good spots) but settled for a 2 bed/2bath apartment right on the beach in a small, cosy development for around £600 instead... I think if we'd been in a larger group this time I might have stomached the extra for the villa anyway!

In answer to your question about crowds. Easter is far busier than mid August. I would say about double the number of people in the parks. The weather is great at Easter but I prefer to handle the humidity of August as opposed to the crowds at Easter. I believe that historically Easter is the next busiest after Xmas.
