We're visiting from out of state August 16-22. Would like to have gone a week or two later, but work and kids school meant this was the week to go. Now I see that AP are back as well. I'm freaked out by the anticipation of huge crowds. How bad will it be? Any best days of that week to go? We want to spend 3 or 4 days in the parks Help us figure out our game plan:confused3:confused3

We just got back, and it felt VERY crowded to us. We always travel at peak times (I'm a teacher) and this was the worst we've seen. I think standard tricks are always best - start as early as possible, use fastpass well, and be flexible!

Buy Ridemax?

I'm going in a couple of weeks myself, and if ridemax can be believed, the wait times are not that bad if you play your cards right.

Make sure you're there and ready to go the sec it opens, hit the important stuff first, have a nice relaxing lunch around noon when it starts getting really bad, watch Billy Hill at 2:35, catch Aladdin at 4:15, eat dinner, and then enjoy the rides as waits start shortening. Use the single rider lines at Toy Story and Soarin', use fastpass like your life depends on it, and bring lots of patience.

That's my plan at least...hmmm maybe I shouldn't have shared it, all my activities will probably be crowded now! :rotfl:

We will be there at the same time and to me it is always very busy. With that in mind, you plan around the real busy times and enjoy the resort. Everyone else is in the same boat.

same here, busy busy !! but.. if you plan accordingly, get to the parks before they open and get in line early, do what you can for the first few hours you are ahead of the game! locals are in the parks later on and you have a chance to ride rides sooner. fast pass, and just remember, its a vacation. I used to freak out, now I think why? I can not change anything and thats just a headache!
Have a safe wonderful trip :)

We'll be there at that time too. Just get an early start like the pp's stated. The park gets busier as the day wears on. Do all of the big rides first. Enjoy some shows later in the afternoon. You will still have a fabulous time no matter what!! Enjoy your vacation!

It shouldn't be as bad as it has been in the last couple of weeks, because some of the SoCal schools will have already started. My son's school starts the 18th.

we're planning to spend three days at DL/DCA. should we start out on Sunday or Monday. Do you think sunday 8/16 will be the busiest day?

Yes, Sunday will be busier than monday. If you're able, I would start on Monday.

Monday will be busier because the SoCal Select AP unblocks that day and it is still Summer.

Yes, it will be worse. In fact, the crowds this summer have been very light compared to last summer. Between August 16th and Labor Day will likely be the worst crowds of the summer.

why no go to both parks everyday? do you have just one park tickets? if not, try reading hydroguy's tips on the stickies. I know it helps me tremendously when crowds are large.

have a good time!

:scared1: We're there the 18th, 19th, 20th and morning of the 21st. I tried to avoid the weekends. I was hoping for continued light crowds!

Don't let anyone scare you. You are going to the happiest place on earth. Just go knowing that the crowds will be there and try to make the best of it. If you go with the idea of being disappointed it might turn out that way. Crowds or not I'll be there on the 16th with bells on! We know it'll be crowded but we don't care. We are going to disneyland! :)
