I will first start out by mentioning how this trip came about. Last Sept my dh, daughter and I took a weak long trip to the world. It was wonderful but sometimes difficult as my dh is also confind to a wheelchair. This year I started a job at a school and put away most of my paycheck so piglet and I could make this a yearly vacation. Dh was fine with because he likes disney world he is happy with going every 5 yrs or so. Too long for me, so he happily let Piglet and I go and enjoy.
Day one
We woke up at around 330 am got dressed and was out the door by 430am. Arrived at Newark at arond 530 am. We kissed dh goodbye and we were off to check in. Check in at continental went ok except when I asked for a seat up front because of piglets situastion (i would hol her while she walked,cannot walk on her own at all)I was told there was none available but maybe the gate agent would help me. Having not had breakfast we were starving but nothing was opened so we just went to the gate and waited there. Finnaly an agent showed up at the gate and when I again asked about having my seat moved up she replied there was nothing she could do, but we would be let on first and we'll be fine, put the gate check tags on piglets wheelchair. I guess I should have argued more but I was just too tired. By the way my seat was in the back of the plane. Finnaly Mcdonalds opened up and we went to get something to eat. Just as we got our food they were boarding the plane and i shoved the hashbrowns in my backpack.
Needless to say I was not boarded first. I went to the gate and the agent said "oh go ahead" no help or anything. So i proceed downt the ramp and get the the door of the plane and try to figure out how Im going to get piglet on the plane and carry my other stuff too.(backpack,her minnie doll and a camera bag) Finnaly a flight attendant arrives and helps me. She is very angry about the way I was treated and that Im seated so far back and after getting me settled says she is going to call someone about it. Shortly after a women comes to me asking me if I want to change seats to up front but by that time Im already settled in. She does tell me that the agents were talked to about the way they treated me. Im glad for that, because it just wasnt right. The flight was fine after that and we were seated next to a very nice gentlemen who got aslong very well with piglet and gave her 20 dollers before he left the plane to buy a stuffed mickey to go with minnie. It was so nice to know there are wonderful people out there.
We went to the mears counter and got a wheelchair van to allstar movies. Checked in and since room wasnt ready walked around the resort had lunch and looked around the gift shop where piglet got her autograph book and pen. By then room was ready. Fantasia bld 5 second floor , handicapped room with king size bed, roll in shower. It was great, close to food court and pool. After we freshened up a bit we headed out to Animal kingdom. We just sort of took in the park and saw the Lion king show. I have to admitt that I got teary eyed(one of many times) Just watching Piglet's reaction to everything, especially when the performers came and shook her hand. WE walked around some more and had a snack of icecream and then headed out toward the bus to the contemparary for chef Mickeys. It was great as always. Good food, great fun. Anouther teary eyed moment when piglet hugged Mickey and said " I missed you so much"
After chef Mickeys we boarded the monarail to the Magic Kingdom. Got seats in the wheelchair section across from city hall and really enjoyed spectro magic parade. I really love this parade,piglet again had a smile from begining to end. WE headed back to the resort where Piglet asked if we can go swiming. She really swims well with arm wings and the water is great for her so in spite of the fact it is after 10pm I say sure. We have a great time and then head off to dream land. It is a great first day
