Hi, I'm Sylvia and I'm a first timer to DCL (and a first time message boarder).
My family and I are booked on this cruise (late dinner seating). DH (Bryan 42), DS-6, and DD-5. We don't know anyone traveling on this cruise; so, I was happy to see a forum for this cruise to get to know some of you before the cruise. Also, my husband wanted to play golf on one of the excursions, so I was looking to see if anyone was doing a golf excursion so my husband would have someone to play with. (I haven't booked any excursions yet.) I look forward to chatting with all of you.

Welcome Sylnbry. Glad to have you and your family on our cruise.

We started looking into the excursions a few weeks ago, but we (especially DW) have been distracted by attending two recent Springsteen concerts. :rockband: She has had trouble switching her attention from Bruce to the upcoming cruise. Now it's time to look at the excursions again (May 5th is getting too close).

A couple of weeks ago, our TA mailed us the DCL 'My Cruise Travel Kit'. Inside the travel kit was the 'Ship and Shore Vacation Guides'. The guide contains info about excursions, gifts, setting sail on the Disney Magic, insurance and formalwear. Did anyone else get one?

We got one too, but I haven't looked at it yet.

Here's our excursions we picked:

Day 3: Cabo

All four of us are going to the Cabo Resort Pool Getaway

Day 4: Mazatlan

I'm going golfing and DW and the kids are going to the Mexican Ranch Party.

Day 5: Puerto Vallarta

DW going on the canopy tour with friends and I'm taking the kids to the sea lion encounter.

We are doing dinner just the two of us at Palo on Day 2 and doing High Tea and brunch with friends on Days 6 and 7 respectively.

DW getting massage on Day 2 and me on Day 4.

Hello everyone! Just got back from a wonderful trip to Memphis. Gotta love the blues!

Yes, now its time to move our focus to this trip. I know I want to book Palo if I'm able to on May 5. What time May 5 can we book? Is it midnight of May 4 or what?

As for excursions, I'm not so sure I'll book any of Disney's excursions. Too pricey. I'm thinking of taking a water taxi on Cabo to see Sea Island, Lover's Beach, and rock formations (name escapes me now) and then dropped off on Medano Beach for the remainder of the day. Thinking of Stone Island on Mazatlan..either go by water taxi or do excursion w/Randi's Happy Horses. Haven't decided which yet. And, am thinking of doing a dolphins in the wild excursion on Puerto Vallarta rather than one of the dolphin facilities. Its through Open Air Expeditions and cost $50pp. It also includes snorkeling and the guides are ocean biologists. I'm more into eco-adventures if possible. I feel guilty knowing I'm paying to keep them in captivity when I saw that expose several years back on how they are captured with many dying of disease before they even make it to these parks. Plus I just can't justify the $165pp price of the dolphin tours. That would be $660 for the 4 of us! Ouch! Oh, and yes, I did get the excursion book from DCL. I have a few more to review before deciding for sure.

Anyway, nothing firm yet, but defiitely know I want relaxing laid back days without too much rushing around.

Hi Everyone,
I was looking at the little booklet I got in the mail for the excursions and my paperwork said I could start booking on May 20. I noticed most of the previous posts mentioned the date May 5. Do most of you get to book early because of Disney Vacation club or returning cruiser?

Once you have paid off your cruise, you can book excursions and make Palo ressies per the following schedule.
At 105 days from cruise (Apr 20), cat 1 thru 3.
At 90 days from cruise (May 5), returning cruisers.
At 75 days from cruise (May 20), all others.
.
Sorry, I don't know if DVC members get an advantage.

Hi Everyone! We just booked the August 3 cruise last week so my family will be joining you all.

It will be myself (Angela), husband Brian, son Spencer who will be one month away from 7, and daughter who will be turning 4 a couple of weeks before the cruise (which we tried to get on the July 20 one which leaves on her birthday but it sold out while we were on the phone!). August 2 is our 10 year wedding anniversary and my husband's birthday is a couple of weeks after the cruise, so we will be doing a lot of celebrating of birthdays and anniversary on board!

I'm having trouble finding where someone said the excursion list is on the site, so I would love a link if anyone could share. We are first timers so we are some of the last to be able to schedule our excursions on May 20.

I can't believe some of you have been waiting since January 2007, waiting three months til August is hard enough for me!

Go to DCL website
Click on 'Ports of Call'
Click on 'Special Mexican Riviera Cruise Ports'
Click on 'Cabo San Lucas' or 'Matzatlan' or 'Puerto Vallarta'
Within those pages, there is a link to the excursions

Anyone thinking about the pirate excursion on puerto vallarta? I thinking about it as my son loves pirates! He's 6.

Oh, does anyone know exactly when we can book on May 5? Is it midnight of May 4? Or sometime on May 5? Cinco de Mayo, eh? How cool is that?

Hello iamdiva007, glad to hear you joined the cruise, as our kids are about the same age (DD just turned 5 and DS is 6) and we are also first time Disney cruisers. My husband and son have birthdays in mid-August so this is an early birthday present too.

I just got my kids passports in the mail yesterday and got a whole lot more excited for the cruise. (I was amazed, the turn around time on the passports was 9 days and that wasn't expedited.)

Hello All,

I was just reading on another thread something about Fish Extenders. Can somebody tell me what these are? Are they just a decoration or do you do something with them. I saw some pictures of some and they look really cute.

-Sylvia

We did it. We paid the cruise off yesterday! :cool1: :scared1:

OK, we're well under 100 now! :goodvibes

So, at 90 days I can reserve our airline seats! Which, for us is Saturday. :thumbsup2

Then we have Palo / Spa / Shore Excursion reservations for the 5th May.

Then we have the "Doc Dance" around the 4th of July! :dance3:

What other milestone events am I forgetting to catpure? :confused3, other than working my butt off for the next 3 months to pay for this baby. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

sylnbry Welcome aboard! :wave2: :wave2: The DW ::MinnieMo is the Fish Extender expert in our family. Since you've seen pictures, I won't try to explain what they look like. On our last cruise, our cruising meet group organized a fish extender swap? I think that's what they're called. We all get a list of kids that want to participate, and you go around and put little trinkets in the fish extenders. Our DS's got lots of cool :cool2: stuff on our last cruise. It was a lot of fun, and our kids really enjoyed it. We haven't organized one for this cruise, YET!? :lmao:
