Auditioning to be a face character

Hi everyone! My name is Ashley and I just returned from my fifth trip to WDW. Ever since I was in high school, I have had this dream (albeit far-fetched I am sure) to be a face character at Disney. Which one? I don't even care. But it's simply something I have always dreamed about. I have a Bachelor's in Theatre which I'm sure would be helpful ... assuming I made it past the face auditions. You all have been so helpful to me in the past, and so I'm hoping that someone could give me a little background on auditioning for a face character, what it requires, what they're looking for, if they accept people from out-of-state, etc. Really, any information you can give me I will gladly absorb! I was going to insert links to images of myself so that you could tell me if I was wasting my time, but unfortunately to be able to post links or images your post count must be 10 or greater. (I suppose I could private message them, of course.)

Thank you all SO MUCH IN ADVANCE for your anticipated help!

Check out the Disney College board (http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=90) - there is a lot of information there about height requirements for certain characters, as well as what the audition process is like.

If I remember correctly, you really just stand there and smile, then they might ask you to act surprised or act like something's funny - easy audition. And if you aren't accepted, it isn't because you aren't good enough... probably just because you don't look like a character.

Ahh, now I can post pictures! :cool1:

The third picture made me think of Belle! I wish you the best of luck!

Keep in mind, there are height requirements. Princesses are 5'3" to 5'7" - this is because of costuming. So no matter how much your face resembles Cinderella or Belle, if you aren't within the height requirements, you can't be cast as that character.

I don't think you have to designate a character when you audition. I think they just look at you and choose your character for you.

**Edit: I corrected myself in later post. Read futher.

I had an acquaintance from college who later became friends with Ariel and she was definitely only like ... 5'2, 5'3 tops ... (She had been in fur before that.)

really, I would have swore I have seen princess a little taller then I'm. Guess it just the shoes

I'm sorry - my memory failed me.

It's 5'4" - 5'7"

You get a .5" wiggle room on either side. So really, 5'3.5" to 5'7.5"

Here's better info:

Belle starts at 5'4 and Jasmine starts at 5'2

Grotto ariel has to be a shorter girl 5'0-5'5
Legs ariel can be anywhere from 5'4-5'7, usually taller side

Aurora is on the taller side 5'5"-5'7

Pocahontas used to be taller but now girls playing Jasmine double for Poca really often so it has been lowered significantly

Snow White is the normal 5'3-5'6 range, same goes for Cinderella

Good luck! You are a very pretty girl!

I have a client who auditioned in Nashville to be a character and he reports June 11th. I can't wait to see who he will be!

I'm not sure about the heights because we had several different Auroras one of which was probably 5'3" one or two in the 5'6"-5'8" range and the other was close to 5'10", not counting the hair!

It's funny to look through some of our pictures, I'm in two or three with the family and her and at 6'3" I tower over one and in another her hair is about as tall as I am, lol.

One of those pictures I though Belle as well. The others not so much. It's amazing what a camera angle can do.

Good luck to the OP.

Please don't take this the wrong way, but I kind of see Maleficent in you. Maybe it's the eyebrows. I personally would LOVE to be a villain...Cruella, MAleficent etc. I think they get to have the most fun with the guests (and scare kids...what could be better?).

I seem to remember that friends of Maleficent are actually males in general. I know it's like that for friends of the Queen of Hearts, because of the height thing, but I'm 90% certain it's that way for Maleficent as well.

Not the two I've run into...very, very female. This is probably going to be what my dd is relegated to if/when she makes it to WDW. She is 5'11...she would make a terrrific Ariel or Merida, (redhead, blue eyes), but sadly, way too tall.
And her best friend is also a princess wanna-be..but she's about 4'11", so she's going to be hard pressed as well.
