Got some excellent news this morning! An "Au Bon Pain" is opening in our town soon. :) :) :) I love this place, the coffee, the soups, sandwiches, wraps...and...my favorite "pecan roll."

Anyone else an "Au Bon Pain" fan?

All our Au Bon Pain's around here turned into Panera Bread's -- which, IMO, was a nice upgrade. :D

I've only ever seen Au Bon Pain restaurants in airports and malls.

Here in Florida, we have Atlanta Bread Company and Panera Bread, which are both excellent. In fact, they're building a Panera Bread/Starbucks combination restaurant right down the street from us!!!:D

Ummmm..."Panera Bread" sounds delicious! Going to check this out as soon as I find one. Thanks!

I have really missed "Au Bon Pain" since moving from MA. There were a lot of them around the Boston area. Always excited to see one at an airport. :) :) :)

I guess they are branching further south! I haven't seen one since I left New England.

I'll keep my eyes open for one in my area, thanks for the tip!

Actually, I've seen Au Bon Pain as far south as Miami, so I know they're in the South somewhat. :)

The people who own Panera Bread used to own Au Bon Pain before they sold it to another corporation. There is a non-competetive agreement between Au Bon Pain and Panera now. If there are currently Au Bon Pain's in the area, they can not open up a Panera. Steve, your Au Bon Pain's must have been owned by the owners of Panera, and thus weren't sold with the brand. Which is why they have been converted over to Panera's. We have Panera her and it's MUCH better than Au Bon Pain, my staple when I used to work in NYC. There will never be a Panera there though, since Au Bon Pain has such a hold on NYC.

Oh, I just LOVE Au Bon Pain's Arizona Chicken!! Yum!

thanks jel0511 for the info! I had no idea about the Au Bon Pain/Panera connection. :)

I LOVE Au Bon Pain. Used to go there daily when I worked in downtown Boston. Mmmm...cinnamon scones for breakfast, with killer OJ.

My favorite will always be a turkey sandwich on their 4 grain roll. Soooo good!

Miss having them nearby.
