I've been travelling to Orlando for about 13 years, but something has always made me wonder.

In the hotels (and in other locations as well) there are desks offering 2 for 1 or discounted attraction tickets - for the first time ever I am having to pay for some of my passes (but to be honest I can't grumble even slightly!).

First of all, how legit are they?

Secondly, what's the catch?

Thirdly, if they are kosher, where can I get the best deals?

I head over there on Wednesday and will be staying in the I-Drive area near the Convention Centre if that helps at all.

Thanks guys (and girls of course)!

Yours, a very excited Lemur!!

There is always a catch. Usually they want you to go on a time share presentation. You will definitely get the tickets free (most of the time they are two tickets for free) BUT you will have to sit through an 1 1/2 hour time share.

If you know that you will be traveling next year you can think of an annual pass to disney. That way your tickets will be good through next year and then you only have to worry about hotel and flight. These tickets can be purchase right at the front gate.

Usually there are no discount tickets for disney. If there are it will only be about 5%.

Seaworld has annual passes also for about $80 per person. Again, if you do this your tickets are all paid up for next years trip.

Oh and when you purchase an annual pass you get free parking, 10% off most food places and merchandise and annual passholder ONLY discounts at the resorts. That could be a savings of as much as 20-40% off some resorts at certain times. For instance, right now there is a special for annual passholders at the value resorts for $59 night and AKL for I think $149 night.

Hope this helps.

Most but not all are genuine offers but they'll involve you trekking along to a timeshare talk etc for a day first, I've read reports of peole who turn up at these talks grab their tickets and run but not sure how commonly available they rae to do this or if you HAVE to sit through a long presentation first. Not sure of where you'd get the best deal as I've never been bothered to go to these, also with a 14 day park hopper on sale for less than £12 per day I just can't see that it'd be worth spending your holiday in a conference centre

I thought it might be something like that!

We're only in town for a few days so I don't want to waste a day in a presentation!

We're giving Disney a miss this time round, doing Universal and Busch Gardens and might pop into Seaworld for a bit to do a few rides.

I just want to try and keep my costs down (and I know I'm not alone there!)

If you haven't got your tickets for univeral yet they have some great deals that they are offering.

Like buy a two day two park adult pass and get the child's ticket for free!

There are a couple of other deals like that too. They are supposed to be as good as that.

We did a time share presentation and as soon as the guy sit us down he asked were we really interested and we said no and he sent us straight to the counter to get our tickets. Mind you, that does not happen all the time..

I'm leaving for the mouse in eight hours!

I'm not so sure that they still do passes for "holiday ownership" presentations as they would either have to be "old" passes or new ones with a non-expiry upgrade.I've read on other boards that they now offer you cash, but having sat thru' one of those "90" minute presentations they couldn't pay me enough!!You can buy tickets from these desks, they will try to encourage you to go to the meeting, but from what I've seen they are no cheaper than pre purchasing from some of the US/UK brokers
