What rides at WDW should stay the same forever? Which ones need huge updates ASAP? Which ones need rolling back to previous editions?
Let's hear it!

IMO:

- No more castle additions like the 25th anniversary cake. The gilded characters flying around for Wishes is....borderline.
- Never change: HM, POTC (the one Jack animatronic was bearable), EE, ToT, The Muppets in 4d, Indiana Jones Stunt Show, Toontown, BTMRR.
- Changes please! Star Wars (maybe make the robot a tad less annoying!), Winnie the Pooh (only for imagineering reasons - I could see too much of the inner workings...needs more "mask"), Splash Mountain needs updated animatronics.
- Roll back to a previous version! JII, Tiki Room, make the Main Street stores separate again (the one-store concept made the facade of main street all the more false).

I have to say that I enjoy change. Every time something changes, I get nervous but I am never disappointed. Change Indiana Jones now!

I disagree almost in full. Splash Mountain should stay the same, as it's a classic. They could get rid of Star Wars completely for all I care. I don't mind the additions to the castle, like when the Alien Encounter re-opened featuring Stitch. Pirates of the Carribbean was a welcome addition. Expedition Everest could only be made better with new technology, as could Tower of Terror - neither of these are traditional, historical rides. Both are great now, but keeping up with the times wouldn't be a terrible thing for either of those rides in the future. Indiana Jones should eventually include parts from the new one, as well. Tiki Room's integration of current characters is great IMO. I also love being able to go from store to store.

IMO all the 3d movie attractions should be redone so that you get at least one new one at one of the parks every 2 years or so. As much as I like the muppets, I would love to see some new material. Plus for some reason, that is the 3d attraction that gives me a headache every time I watch. (Combine that headache with a ride on Star Tours and I am done for the day! :headache:)

As for what not to touch - that is hard because classics like POTC and HM are still great with the touch-ups and additions. I welcome these non-invasive upgrades to any ride... so I can't think of anything that I would keep 100% exactly the same.

I'd also love to see an upgrade to my favorite attraction - Splash Mountain. It had just opened on my very first trip to WDW ever and I was 11. I'm now 27 and while I appreciate the nostalgic feeling I get when I ride, it would be great to see some tweaks! ;)

:( Forgot to mention the attraction I would bring back to original form - Tiki Room. You don't even get to hear the full song anymore!!!

I would actually like to see the indiana jones stunt show turned into a ride, maybe not based on Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, but I would really like the idea of a ride that uses the ducks from the movie (the amphibious military vehicle) to combine the effects of the DLR ride with a flume or two... entering the water MID-RIDE would be WILD.

Keneke, I hope you mean you only don't want the story or visuals changed, and the drop pattern not included in that... I wouldn't mind it longer, more drops, even though it's a pretty random pattern already

Having the stores on main street combined means less cash registers and more room for cool stuff to sell

Act 4 on COP should get a bit of a style update again, it's supposed to be the present or near future and a bit of the stuff is either old news or the wrong direction... they still use the words "car phone" and the video game is old tech

I don't mind changes, of course I'm saddened when a beloved attraction is changed or goes dark. I think for the most part, the changes that are made are good ones, exceptions are Imagination, Stitch, and Pooh's Playful Spot.

So, really there isn't anything in WDW that I would say needs to be the same forever.

I wish they would give the Great Movie Ride at least a slight update. Take out a few of the more less known movies, and add a few more major, current ones, like Titanic or something.

I haven't seen the updates to HM yet but I'm nervous.....leave it alone! Bring back "Toad".. I love Pooh but what a poor excuse for a Pooh Adventure that thing is! Loved the old Tiki. Leave POTC alone! Haven't seen the new one but love it! Leave IASM alone! Its classic like Dumbo and Teacups. Some things are better left alone. Nobody ever changed the recipe to Toll House cookies!!!!! lol

And while the addition of Tink is something I can handle at the end of wishes, leave the castle alone!!!!!! Please!!!!!! It is a symbol, it is special, it is (dare I say this!) sacred! You do NOT change THE symbol of the park!!!!!

Like how they never spaceship earth at epcot? :p (ducks out of the way of flying wand rants haha)

I would have said this about HM but the current update is great.

Not too crazy about the whole Jack Sparrow thing though.

And I detest what was done (or not done) to Spaceship Earth. Yeah, it needed an update, but half the ride was completely eliminated.

The first half looks great though.

You can see Mr. Toad and the original Tiki Room at Disneyland.

TTA, and Splash Mountain

What about TTA? change it or don't touch it?
I'd like to see them add or change (rotate every few months? new ones, modern and retro-modern maybe) through different displays inside the tunnels, obviously leaving the original concept model of Epcot untouched... (I'd like to go by that a heck of a lot slower too)

And maybe some cushions... isn't it still slippery bare blue plastic?

They did just change HM last year.
I could see updating the animatronics eventually in EE. I could also see continuing to update POTC, as long as it's subtle stuff like improving the animatronics and sound system. I hop e they never replace the 'flames' though. I love that effect. I was sad to see the outdoor parrot moved. I also think the same is true for CoP. Although htey need to modernize the last scene like they did on SE recently.

Muppets coul duse a new movie. SERIOUSLY!

Tootown does almost nothing for me. It needs something. Some reason to go over there....

I also think the ISS is kind of lame. I dunno; I thought it was boring and too staged.

Now BTMRR, I agree. But I heard a rumor that it might be getting some updating.
I'll grant you Star Tours. So much potential! They could do SO MUCH with Star Wars that woul dbe totally great. The preshow is good for ST, but the ride itself is way too dated. Hey, they took out Back tothe Future at Universal. Disney needs to keep up!

I agree on your others.

I'd also like to see if you had wings again. Buzz is great but I miss that ride. I think M:S is an updated version ot Mission to Mars, so that's acceptable....that space with Stitch though....I liked AE...but if they can't bring that back, put something cool there.
Oh, and how about the obvious Mr. Toad! and 20,000 leagues?!?

I forgot to post it here because I just mentioned it the other day in another thread...

Tomorrowland Indy Speedway needs a toal overhaul... I have heard the Autopia in DLR is really good (they combined what used to be 2 autopias in fantasyland and tomorrowland into one large one with different types of roads, an off road section (dirt colored bumpy concrete with plants closer to the tracks, no curbs) and some other cool stuff.
The TIS is pretty boring and I think they could do a really cool Cars themed version of it with new cars and something, anything to look at besides the car 6 up from yours that stalled again and you have to wait for someone to come start it to get going.
They could even change the path that goes between the toontown train station and tomorrowland that goes behind the TIS to incorporate it, have it go through a grandstand area with a spot to sit and watch, while the ride would be like the part of the movie at the race track.
To go along with new cars to make them look like in the movie, they could convert the engines to some form of alternative power... they could run on hydrogen, natural gas, or electricity, any of which would be better than gasoline, and they could advertise that part to make it tie in with the "tomorrow" part of Tomorrowland better, but not too much to make it like a political statement, more of to show off that it's environmentally friendly. Afterall, even the train runs on clean burning fuel.
I think it would do a really good job of blending tomorrowland (TIS doesn't fit in tomorrowland anyways, even with it in the name!) and toontown a bit, to hide the transition more like between the other lands. Toontown would have less of a solid border/gate feeling to it which has always felt weird to me... it reminds me of the spot in Ikea where you leave your kids with such a seperated feel.

Edit: I typed most of this then remembered about a handful of other ideas I had come up with previously
