Just an FYI, if you are flying to/fro MCO!! I gave this tip to a friend, her 9 y/o dd just returned from a weeklong stay with her Grandmother.. Had all her outfits in ziplocks & had no problem flying to MCO, but when they were at MCO ready to fly home, they opened this little girls suitcase & proceeded to do a complete check of everything in her suitcase!! My friend said they waited about 30 minutes for security to check her bag.

Not sure if this happens everytime, last time I flew aren't those bag checks at random.

Moral of story: If you are a ziplock packer allow yourself enough time to get to/fro airport so that you don't miss your flight!

I have never had any trouble packing in Ziploc bags I use them both in my check and carry on luggage. I have had them look through my bag before but never pull it all apart. Sorry to hear of the trouble.
Have a great day

I fly SWA to/from ISP (small airport on Long Island in NY) and because the airport is so small, they hand check ALL luggage. It does not pay for them to buy the expensive equipment. Usually it goes pretty quickly but when I fly out of there with checked luggage I make sure that I have everything in an easy spot.

Just the heads up that if it is a smaller airport they will hand check ALL luggage.

Green Bay does this as well. I flew in and had no problem at MSP, but on the way back GRB had to give the hassle with my conf. number, luggage check, etc. I much prefer the Int'l airports. They say bigger isn't always better, but man...they didn't give me as much of a hassle! LoL! I never used the Ziploc method for DW, but maybe I'll try it out. Works well for road trips!

Bags are checked at random. Always leave for the airport early, as it may take extra time when they do a random bag check on you. MCO looks extremely chaotic with long lines, but don't fear...it is one of the best run security check points in the country. They can accomodate the large amounts of travelers rather quickly. You can help yourselves (and your fellow travelers) by getting ready for the check point before you hit the front of the line. Remove all your metal, your jacket, your shoes (in most cases) and take out your lap tops. Some jewelry sets off the metal detector as well as belts, and hair barrets but underwire bras do not set it off (as some posters have said).
One way to miss your flight is to smart off with the security personnel, or joke about a bomb or terrorist. Don't do that.

Allow extra time, and it is a piece of cake. :cheer2:
