Attn Villa renters!

I think the US27 are is a nice distance from Disney, not too far, not too near, and far enough to feel you have "escaped" for the night.....but the area doesnt personaly interest me, as its too far away from the Universal / I Drive areas for my liking. I prefer a more central location like LBV.

However this thread has reminded me of an old friend from college back in the early 90's who's family used to own a guesthouse in Blackpool. They had put on one of their adverts "5 minutes walk from the tower", and someone had contested this journey time, presumably they were unhappy about how far they had to walk, and actualy took them to court over it for misrepresentation. I remember they got my mate to run it, and he did make it in just less than 5 minutes. They attempted to use this as their evidence, but the judge (or magistrate or whatever it was) was having none of it, and they lost their case.

Not relevant atall to the thread, so I'll be quiet now.

I think it is very relevant because if things are not as stated in the advertising material then we have a right to sue for damages just as the people staying in Blackpool did. I have done it and both times it was non contested because they knew they were in the wrong (not villa holidays)

Just wanted to add my bit.

May be it is a misprint on the website and should read 15 not 5.

I agree with Jannyans and Shropshire Saint. We have a property on Tuscan Ridge (US27) and depending on time of travel, route and which part of Disney you want to call Disney it can be take as little as 15 minutes to get there and that’s with me driving, husband can be there a lot quicker

We looked at purchasing a property on Calabay Parc and was told by the sales team there it was 15 minutes to Disney. Likewise they informed us the new Development at Tower Lake would be 20 mins. We did not believe this as it is much further down the 27, however when we road tested their claim we did get to the Welcome to Walt Disney World sign in 21mins and that was sticking to all the speed limits and negotiating the I4 road works.

Anyway I've rambled on too much, what Ijust wanted to say I personally think that the H27 area is an ideal location, just far enough away from Disney and well support by local amenities.

As a newbie who has never been to Florida I was a bit concerned when I read this post!

We are staying at Windward Cay, about 5 miles east of Disney is all I know! I've heard its a nice community but have been told its not too long a drive. I don't fancy having to commute for more than 1 hour a day, i've enough of that in London!!!

Thanks for that link though to the communities, the map is fab. The blurb on that site said Windward Cay is nice so fingers crossed!

At the end of the day, even if you're 20 minutes away from Disney, you're still closer than from here! :teeth:

Windward Cay is nice, I stayed there some years ago, it will take 10-15 minutes into Disney if you use Poinciana and the Osceola Parkway, if you go down 192 it can take 30 minutes or more depending on the traffic. The only minus point for me with this place is that it is not gated so looks just like a normal street but don't let that put you off, its a nice place to stay.

Thanks for all the info, am staying at Highlands Reserve in October and have never stayed in a villa before and was curious about how far away we are from disney and I Drive. I was more than happy to drive about 30 minutes and this seems to be well within that.

Hi Everyone

We are owners of a villa in Chatham Park - we travel Poinciana Boulvard then along 535 to World Drive - this is classed as Disney Property - All those of you staying in a villa ask the owner or villa company for a street name and zip code of where you are staying - you don't need the house number and this won't be given to you until you have paid your full balance - if you get the street name and zip code you can then do yahoo maps or mapquest to World Drive for a more accurate timing of your journey obviously this would be depending on accidents/roadworks on the day. We supply this to all our renters on their first enquiry with us so everyone is fully aware of the distance of our villa from Disney which incidentally is 5.8 miles and a 7 min drive. We can be in MGM Studios parking lot within 10 minutes. Everyone rents villas for different reasons and while the 27 would be right for some it would also be wrong for some too in just the same way as the villa communities along the 192. It's horses for courses and as long as anyone renting a villa does their homework I'm sure it would all work out fine. I just wish too that owners and companies alike were more truthful with their timings and not so economical with the truth.

We have stayed at Indian Creek on our last few visits and have found it ideal for our purposes with it's proximity, acknowledged in previous posts, to the Disney parks. Reading this thread though I asked the family individually how long they would expect to leave to get from our villa's drive to the two finger test at MK entrance. They all agreed that 45 minutes would be a minimum expectation. For those reading this who are planning to visit WDW for the first time, this includes
[1]staying within the speed limit ( ;) ), and via Sherberth Road (15 mins approx)
[2]parking within the parking lot and walking to and waiting for the tram (depending on how lucky you are - hopefully not at the opposite end of the lot from the tram). (6 mins)
[3]tram ride and walk to TTC/Ferry (8 mins)
[4]possible wait for monorail/ferry (usually short) (0-3 mins but can be more)
[5]monorail/ferry (5/7 mins)
[6]walk to gates via security check (even more queues) (5 mins)

MK is certainly the furthest away from Formosa area and these are all approximations and times might be slightly slightly reduced but could well be much increased on busy days. All other parks particularly AK can be reached much more quickly.

My observations may sound very cynical/negative but I wouldn't swap any of it (missing it already :teeth: ).

However I can't believe that those staying further away (on US 27 for instance) could legally reach MK within these times (I have timed it at 12 minutes from Walmart on the 27 to Formosa Gdns - no-one has mentioned on this thread how busy the 192 is on this stretch). Anyone suggesting quicker links must surely be "moving the goalposts" somewhere.
