I believe that I read somewhere about there being a "no-drop" elevator in the ride. Is this true and if so, could someone tell me a little about it. My 8 year old is interested in the ride, but not sure about taking the big drops. Thank you.

There is a last chance to exit elevator yes, but this before you even get on the ride. Its after the line and just before you board the attraction ride.

As for going through the attraction and just skipping the drops part, im sorry but to my knowlege there isnt such an elevator. I have used this once awhile ago and its just a regular old elevator. It takes you to the same place that the attraction spills out to i think. Again i havent been there for awhile but im pretty sure thats where it lets out.

You still get to walk into the hotel, go to the "library" for the video and walk into the basement to the elevators. When everyone is boarding the ride elevators, just ask about taking the alternate elevator. It will take you to the same place where the ride elevator exits.
You could also do child swapping - me and my 5 yo took the alternate elevator and waited. When my husband and 13 yo came back (they met us in the downstairs lobby), I went up the same elevator with my 13 yo so we could ride together.
