Attn: Perfume wearers (mini-rant)

This reminds me of my son (who's 15) earlier this year. The "in" thing for guys is to wear Axe. He asked me if he could get some Axe deodorant and I had no problem with that. HOWEVER, when he walked out of his room the next morning, I could of died!! He reeked of the stuff!!! He insisted that he only used on spray per underarm, but the smell of it had me sneezing up a storm. I even threatened to have him sit outside til it was time to leave for school. My daughter (14) told me how much she loved that smell and how all the girls are crazy for it. I asked my son if the guys wore it because it fumigated all the girls and made them easy to catch

I had to laugh. My son is into Axe now as well. It is pretty strong. I can also smell him a mile away.

My son is in 5th grade and girls still have cooties.

Lately, I have found men to be the worst offenders. Their cologne is soooo strong. What really gets me though is when I open a door and someone's cologne ends up all over my hand. I just want to jump out of my skin when that happens.

Old spice deoderant is pretty bad too. I fell asleep one night before DH had come home only to wake in middle of the night unable to breathe... DH was sleeping with his arm over his head and his armpit in my face

Well, I felt bad today.

Today, I put on some body souffle (tutti dolci-sugar wafer) very small amount just on my calves. I ran to Best Buy and the cashier says "You smell like cookies".
I was embarrassed thinking that I put too much on. I apologized and she said "I like it. I want to make cookies now."

I hope I didn't offend anyone.

The only time you can smell my perfume is if you are giving me a hug.

Same here and I only wear it when I'm on a date. I hate it when I walk by someone (in the mall or work or wherever) and I almost choke because of the stench rising from their bodies.

Strong perfume makes me sneeze.

I completely agree!! My dad is one of the biggest offenders of this rule. I swear he puts the whole bottle on when we're going somewhere. I have to tell him every time to go back and wash it off. It STINKS!!

I'm allergic to the taste and smell of cinnamon so I can't go to the mall during Thanksgiving or Christmas without taking an Imitrex first. I'm completely miserable otherwise. Why do they have to stink the place up with all those spices...UGH!!

Reminds me of something that happened to me with a hair product. I use Alterna's styling cream that comes in a yellow jar. It does have some smell to it. I was at the local convenience store early one morning (just after doing my hair) and the girl says to me "Wow, you smell like roses!!" I was mortified and was trying to figure out what it was. Then I realized it was my hair product. I was very self-conscious because I don't like to "smell."

I agree that some people seem to cover themsevles head to toe in the strongest smelling perfume. But I have to say, I think I'd rather smell someone's strong perfume than the smell of someone who just got out of their car after smoking a cigarette! OR--someone who just got back from a smoke break and uses the phone before me.

Nasty I tell ya....NASTY!

When I wear perfume I use the spray into the air and walk through the cloud of scent method.

I'm the one who can't go into Yankee candle for more than a few moments because I can't hold my breath that long -however- I can deal with and love a few of the scents they have. Odd how it works.

I don't know the name of the store..but there is one in downtown disney (the one with all the smelly bath stuff..soaps and such)....

I have to stand a good 20 feet away. Any closer....and woah!

I can't even go through the perfume areas of stores because of my allergies and asthma.

There are so many of those stores that I can't even go in. I would love to be able to see what all they have to offer, but it just isn't worth it. Bath & Body Works is another store I can't go into. So when they have their great sales I have to have someone else pick up some stuff for me.

And usually I am not allergic to the equivilant plant...but flowers like magnolia's and such I am allergic to. My wedding bouquet was not designed around the look of the flower...but what would not cause a reaction. It was very beautiful anyway .

I wear a vanilla body lotion, and one day a guy walks into my office and says "smells like baked goods in here."

And usually I am not allergic to the equivilant plant...but flowers like magnolia's and such I am allergic to. My wedding bouquet was not designed around the look of the flower...but what would not cause a reaction. It was very beautiful anyway .

I so agree with this. I also have allergies (sneezies and snifflies) as well as headaches from scents. Hubby just goes asthmatic on me. I don't wear perfumes, due to him, and always use unscented detergents, deodorants, etc. We joke when we go into restaurants that they need to add "perfume or non perfume" to the "smoking or non smoking" request.

My best friend in college used to wear a horrible perfume called scoundrel and she would bath in it. It smelled like she was wearing gasoline!

The same thing happened at my school. EVERY SINGLE GUY had on axe. I personally cringe at the smell of it, and I was being assulated by it. It was killing me. Now there is a Curve craze. (now I don't mind that one.)

Ooh, I like Curve as well. My DH and son got a hold of Curve samples yesterday! They smell fantastic!

I like the female version of Curve. Do you wear it? I think its great.. the bottle is gorgeous.

I'm not a big perfume fan either. Certain brands really bother me, and I don't know what they are since I don't ever shop for it. The ones that bother me are usually worn by older women and are really strong - I think they may be some type of Estee Lauder? I get a headache and sometimes almost naseous if I am around it for any length of time.
