Attn all WDW vets need help on off site hotel on WDW property

I need help looking for a nice enjoyable resort for my Dec 26 to Jan 3 solo trip to Orlando.

Can anyone who has stayed at one of the resorts that are on WDW property but aren't Disney owned tell me what any of them are like (other than the Swan/dolphin).

I haven't been in 23 yrs and am not sure what they are like. I have read bios on them, but would like some real honest feedback on what anyone thought.

re; Hotel Royal Plaza, - one of the friendliest hotel staffs I've ever encountered at any price. The property is hopefully more renovated since I've been there a few years ago when it had a dated look and feel about it. I'd put this hotel on your list of candidates .
