Here's a question for you experienced Pirate Night cruisers. In general, what is the dress for that night? My oldest son is ambivalent about dressing up. He just wants to wear a pirate hat and patch but doesn't really want to do the full dress-up, which is fine by me. I just don't want him to get there and be upset that he didn't bring the full get up. Also, what do the adults typically wear? My preference is to not dress up as a pirate. For those adults who don't dress up, what do they typically wear? All input appreciated! TIA pirate:

Let Him.... Shirt, pants and the bandana they give you at dinner..

He Will Be Fine..

I, one of the "supposed" adults am thinking of dressing up. I think it might be fun. How often do you get that kind of opportunity?

However, if little girls can be princesses I would definately let your son be a pirate.

My whole family is thinking about dressing up. And, since we are going a month after Halloween I bet we can find some good stuff. We are on the cruise to let our hair down and have fun. pirate:

We all dressed as pirates..had fun. My DS did not want to dress up so he wore tropical clothing.

I'm going all out on DS (17). Captain Jack Sparrow wig and hat, pirate shirt and pants, etc. I got a peasant blouse which I will wear with a pair of denim capris that I shredded around the bottom. I have a remnant piece of red and white striped material that I will tie around my waist and a parrot for my shoulder.

I figure, number 1 - You're going on this cruise to have fun...So have it!
and number 2 - I'll probably never see these people again! They won't be able to blackmail me! :) Life is more fun if you participate.

Unless they have pics and post them here...anyone else going on mommaluvsDIS's cruise???

We went on our first cruise last month and only knew about pirate night because of this board. There was me, DH, DS10 and DD6. We brought some things from home - black bandanas for our head with the skull & crossbone on it, eye patches which only DD wore and necklaces with skulls on them. Just enough to be dressed up. We had several people ask us how we knew there would be a pirate night and how they wished they had brought something. You do get a red bandana to wear and your servers can put it on for you. The best pictures we got from the cruise were of the 4 of us dressed up and one of the two kids together.

We saw some kids who were pirates from head to toe and it was great! Enjoy yourself - it's vacation! :)

Of course we missed the pirate party that night at 10 since that was the day we had been at Castaway Cay all day and our family never made it to 10:00..

poohs4me...

I got everything off of ebay, shirt, pirate pants, wig and hat. I was very pleased with everything and it all looks great!

I saw the cutest pirate t shirts while surfing the web. That's another idea if you don't want to wear a costume. Even though it's a tshirt do u think this is appropriate for dinner? pirate:

deadmentellnotales.com is a great site. Ordered lots of stuff from them. Very inexpensive items and great, efficient service.

pirate.costume.halloweendepot.com has some inexpensive costumes as well.

Happy shopping!:) pirate:

Are they having Pirate night on the West Coast, and if they are which night is it???

Well, that is a more casual night, I'd have to ponder whether it would be appropriate or not....do you have a web link to the tshirts you saw...I'd love to have a look!

I love everyone's input...thank you so much!!! pirate:

I PMd you LiserAnn. I forgot to tell you, my two favorites are the Wench in Training and Pirate Girl.

Happy Sailing.

I just got back from the 4 day Wonder. I had read all about Pirate Night on these boards and was totally prepared with costumes for my entire family.

The word my husband used that night was that he was going to "Murder" me because only two other families on the entire ship were also dressed in costumes.

I was very disappointed that other families did not dress up but apparently alot of people did not even know about the pirate night ahead of time except from these boards.

So, proceed with caution ................ LOL pirate: Deb pirate:
