ABSOLUTELY!

Best news to me honestly is that I get to keep every one of these 7 as competition. :D And I'd say that no matter what place I was. Unless, of course, I were 8 or 9. ;)

As far as restaurant reservations go, ADR’s would be accepted! For décor, the boats and scenery would stay. Boats would be split into color groups (green, orange, blue, light pink, red, yellow, lime, and dark pink), and 2 groups of servers (buffet helpers and platform attendants) would be assigned to that color set of boats. The boats would still go around and around the attraction slow enough that you don’t get motion sickness but fast enough that you can get to the buffet! Enjoy Pirates in its glory while you’re chowing down on your food.

The scenery would stay but I’d definitely add a few things. The boat “aisles” would be expanded so there could be three boats across. Projectors and slideshow screens would be installed every so often. A kitchen with stoves, ovens, refrigerators and freezers would be located in a village scene. The loading platform would be expanded enough to have a buffet and a “dock” in it…restrooms would be located right beside the buffet room. The loading platform is where you are greeted and “put” in your boat. Drink orders are taken by the first group of servers at the platform, via your color. You can go around the attraction while deciding on food choices and would be stopped at the loading platform. The group orders, and drinks and rolls (on the end of a Pirate Sword!!) are brought out. Your boat is stopped as those with buffet meals (and buffet attendants help you with your choices and getting into the boat) can get their plates, while the others munch on the hot, delicious rolls! As soon as everyone in your party is situated, the ride continues. Groups are welcome to go around as often as they like.

For the character breakfast, every boat gets a special time with Jack Sparrow, Will Turner, Barbossa and Elizabeth. A special movie (usually Pirates of the Caribbean) will be shown in case people really love seeing the characters!

Décor would include tasteful nautical and Caribbean theme elements, such as piped in Caribbean music, knots as napkin holders, palm trees and color-coded (like the boats) and numbered fishing bobbers tied on all utensils just in case someone drops their fork in the water so they can retrieve it! They will get a new fork, by the way. Imagine the entry dock…with the buffet and restrooms in it. Okay, now imagine it with lots of palm trees, rope knotted garland on the door, life preservers on the walls. The buffet area will be set up to look like a village…the “salad garden” is set up on a high buffet, with lots of delicious salad ideas in it! For decoration, there are some green leaves and shoots sticking out of the ground. That is located next to the first “house buffet”…the side dishes. The Side Dish house has a log cabin look…lots of wood and a fireplace! Fireplace is only used when it gets REALLY cold out (and it’s an electric that produces heat)! An extra long table (buffet holder) will be set up in the one room, with hot water in the bottom and the foods on top to keep the foods nice and toasty. As you exit, you spot the next “house”…the farmhouse, where the meats are. It’s a house, with a “fenced in” place and a barn painted on the wall, so it creates an optical illusion. The farm wife and her husband are at a large grill, cooking up meat orders and serving them delicious! On the other side of the room: The Italian’s House! The Italian’s House is a house with green painted logs, and yellow door way and a large Italian flag hanging from a flagpole out front. That’s where the pizza and pasta are served. Once you exit, you come to the last and largest “place”…the bakery and dessert shop! It’s wood with plate glass windows that have gold writing on them “Village Bakery and Dessert Shop”! Fresh rolls, pies, cakes, cookies, gelatin, fresh fruit and so much more await here. As you exit the bakery and have lots of plates, you are directed back to your boat and helped in.
**Plates are provided at each house.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
The attraction is kept as much in original form as possible, though we renovated and added projectors and movie screens. We added the projectors and movie screens so you could watch a movie (or the fireworks!) as you enjoy!

~**~*~*~*~*~*~*~~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Cast members would wear
1) A white billowy Pirate shirt, 2) a red velvet vest, 3) a pair of striped Pirate pants, 4) black boots, and 5) a tri-corned hat or a leather “do-rag” to cover up the hair. Hair would have to be tied back in a ponytail or braids for girls, or a ponytail for guys or short enough that it doesn’t hang into the eyes. Nails could be painted with clear gloss or light pink only and must be kept short. Makeup should be kept to a minimum (eye shadow, lip gloss, blush) if at all possible. Beards must not go below the chin.

Leather do rag…the guy in the first picture is reporting in for work…and look! He’s even got his roll-skewering sword!

SpaceMountain's

Picture this: You are so excited to be one of the very first people to eat at the Magic Kingdom’s newest restaurant. Sure you’re sad that there’s no more Space Mountain- who wouldn’t be? But as you approach, all your sadness disappears…
tom_spa.jpg

You are glad to see that the outside still looks the same. That big white “mountain” is such a landmark of Tomorrowland. But you see that the sign has been changed. It now says “Space Munchin’”. You see two entrances. One still says Standby, or the line to wait in if you don’t have reservations. The Fastpass line is for people with reservations. Being that you’re the only judge here right now, you figure you can go to either one…

space.jpg

You walk to the Fastpass line- as a celebrity you’ve never been one to wait. The cast member standing there has a big smile as she says “Welcome to Space Munchin’. As our very first and very special guest, we want to know what you think.” “No problem,” you say to yourself…

Some of that long walkway to get to the ride is still there, but it was cut down to be a lot shorter. And now there are benches along the side for people to sit on. You enter the eating area and you are blown away. Looking up, it looks like you are in outer space. It’s the same stuff as the ride, stars, shooting stars, planets, but with updated technology it is amazing…

You now look in front of you just in time as you are seated in a booth that is shaped like a spaceship. The table looks familiar and you realize that it is one of those pictures that look like they move when you move. The ones that used to be in the walls as you waited in line. Space music is playing…

Your waiter comes to bring you your menu. He, as well as all the other cast members here are dressed in the same purple space shirt that they wore when working at the ride. “We serve wraps here. We decided on them because they are a logical food for astronauts to eat. They’re very compact and you can get all the food groups in at once.” he explains. “You can create-a-wrap with whatever you want be we have some ideas here on the menu for you to take a look at too”…
wrapsand.jpg

After careful consideration, you’ve narrowed it down to 3 choices. One is with turkey, Swiss cheese, lettuce, and tomato. Another is with ham, pineapple, and brown sugar. The last is a BLT wrap with bacon, lettuce, tomato, and mayonnaise. You decide to go with the first one. After placing your order, Mickey comes over to your table, dressed in an astronaut suit. As you look around, you see Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, Chip, and Dale all dressed in astronaut suits too. They come and visit you later…
tomorrowland%20mm.jpg

The food was delicious, the atmosphere excellent, and the characters and cast members a lot of fun. After paying your bill, which was very reasonable you go to leave. When you are leaving you are very happy to see not only the displays that were there when you walked on that long moving walkway after the ride but also the TV’s that everyone loves to look at themselves in. As you exit back into Tomorrowland, you are almost disappointed to leave.

Julia& Nicks Mom's

Walt Disney World is pleased to announce its newest restaurant
located in the heart of Adventureland

tikilounge.jpg

When the Tiki Room attraction closed many WDW visitors were saddened by the loss of a beloved childhood memory. So we decided to take the beauty of this attraction and turn it into an entertaining and interactive restaurant.

As you check into the restaurant you will be welcomed into the waiting area – where the pre show used to be. Bamboo benches have been added for the comfort of those waiting and a short show will give visitors a peek at the planning for the Tiki Lounge

Zazu & Iago are discussing the Tiki Room sitting perched in front of the waterfall

preshow.jpg

Zazu: We have to be practical about this – the Tiki Room needs some changes – there are no crowds and we need to find a way to pack the crowds in

Iago: Well, I have learned my lesson and I ain’t messing with the Tiki Gods

Zazu: Then we will have to find a plan that will satisfy the Gods

Iago: They have to be able to sing!!

Zazu: Of course – let’s have a Polynesian themed restaurant!

Iago: I think the guys over at Ohana’s might not be too happy about that! What about a Bazaar – the Agrabah Bazaar who doesn’t love a Harem of women? (with this the Tiki Gods statues stir, the area darkens and some thunder rumbles in the background)

Zazu:Moving on now – how about an African feast? Gondola Stew or Stewed Okra! Delicious! (more thunder rumbles in the background)

Iago: Swiss Family Robinson?

Zazu: Too survivorish!

Iago: Pirates of the Caribbean – Turkey legs and Beer!!

Zazu:That is so primitive

Iago & Zazu begin arguing (thunder becomes louder and more invasive) and out come William and Morris – their agents who realize it is now time for them to take over!

William: Will you two bird brains stop arguing!?!?

Morris This is getting rather old! What is the problem?

Zazu & Iago both start shouting at once

William: Enough - I have heard enough!

Morris For once we agree on something!

William: This is about the bottom line and the bottom line says - an Arabian or African themed menu would fail to attract the masses

Morris and the other ideas – well – they were just bad –

William: So a Polynesian theme it will be (the Tiki Gods perk up and the sun comes out)

Morris: After all that was Walt’s original intent for the Tiki Room – but it proved to be impractical for Disneyland. Well I guess those birds are finally going to get what they wanted!

William: It is time to bring a little Polynesian flavor to the Magic Kingdom! And start the dinner show Walt Disney once dreamed of having in the Tiki Room!

Iago: I want my name on the place now!

Zazu: No – we will leave it as the Enchanted Tiki Room

Iago: People will expect the same old Tiki Room then

Zazu: let’s change it to the Enchanted Tiki Lounge then

Iago: We can put your name first!

Morris: Good work – I believe we are no longer needed here (and the duo retreats)

Zazu and Iago continue some bickering over who has the best agent and who had the idea for the restaurant and eventually fade into background noise

This dinner pre-show will be repeated ever 10 minutes so as not to annoy those waiting but to give everyone a chance to see it

Guests are ushered inside by cast members dressed in Polynesian attire: The women will have a choice of two Hawaiian dresses and the men will wear a Hawaiian shirt. The pattern on the shirt will depict both Mickey Mouse and the Tiki Gods.

outfits.jpg

The room looks much like it did as the Enchanted Tiki Room except it has been converted into a 3 story building. The room looks like a Polynesian Tiki Hut with lush foliage and tropical flowers. The middle is open all the way up. The second and third floors are actually balconies in the round overlooking the first floor. In the middle remain the Tiki Birds who will sing for the enjoyment of the lunch and dinner guests. Guests will be given a colorful menu depicting the Tiki Gods and inside each one will be an introduction to the Tiki Gods, Tiki Room Birds and a history of the Tiki Room Lounge. Each table is made of bamboo and the meals will be served in Pineapple bamboo platters. Beverages will be served in mugs looking very similar to the Tiki Gods and the plates will be bamboo platters. Guests are encouraged to sing along and have fun during their meal.

insidedecor.jpg

All meals will be served in traditional Polynesian family style. The family will be allowed to choose their appetizer, 3 entrees and each family member will get their own dessert. Price is $21.99 for adults and $10.99 for kids. Includes coffee, tea and soda

We are happy to welcome you to the Muppet 3D Experimental Meal Experience! Our restaurant is opening this year to help celebrate and commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Jim Henson Company (creators of the Muppets).

As one of the newest character meal dining experiences in Walt Disney World, we recommend that you make Advanced Dining Reservations (formerly referred to as Priority Seating) before your trip by calling (407) WDW-DINE (939-3463). You may make Advanced Dining Reservations up to 90 days in advance. We are a non-smoking restaurant (as are all Disney Restaurants).

Price

$16.95 – adults & children over age 12
$8.95 – children ages 3-11

Discounts

Disney Dining Experience members receive a 20% discount off all food and beverage, for the member’s table only (up to 10 guests). DVC and AP holders receive a 10% discount off all food and beverage, for the member’s table only (up to 10 guests).

Décor

The pre-show area will mostly remain the same, to give diners interesting and fun things to read and laugh about before their meal. There will also be new items among the familiar old pre-show images, including a framed image of the 2005 stamps honoring Jim Henson and the Muppets (due to be released September 28th)
05_jhenson37_d.jpg

The theatre area will be refurbished with tables, and will be decorated to resemble the deck of the Swine Trek from Pigs In Space.

swinetrek1.jpg

Servers will be dressed in the costume made familiar by Captain Link Hogthrob. (Silver shirt with silver epaulets & white sleeves, silver belt and matching silver pants)

LinkHogthrob.jpg

MAMMA (Music and Mood Modulating Apparatus), a machine that resembles R2D2, will roam among the diners and play selections of music made popular by the beloved Muppets over the years, including: It’s Not Easy Being Green, Rainbow Connection, Mahna Mahna, The Muppet Show Theme Song, and Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem performing Tenderly. Also featured will be other songs performed by Muppets during the Sesame Street years. Who could forget Ernie singing Rubber Ducky, You’re the One?

Characters

Different Muppet characters will appear at various times during the meal, for photos, hugs, and autographs. The beautiful, gorgeous, vivacious, charming, humble (and you’d better remember to call her these things when you meet her…) Miss Piggy will be there, as well as her sweetie-pie Kermit the Frog, along with Fozzy Bear and his joke daisy (don’t sniff – you may get a little wet!), and Rowlf the Dog. Statler and Waldorf will comment on their surroundings from their balcony.

Out in the lobby (former pre-show area), Sweetums will appear, along with Gonzo and Bean the Rabbit (“Bun-nyyyy!!”)

MP46-big.jpg

The Meal

Food will be served family-style, with platters of the different offerings brought to each table, and guests helping themselves to whichever items they want. Brunch selections will be:

Statler and Waldorf salad

Eggs Funny-Side Up (or scrambled, if that’s what you prefer)
Turkey Bacon (Miss Piggy was especially concerned that no relative was harmed for this meal)

Sliced leg of lamb, sliced turkey

Assorted Muffins, Croissants & Rolls

Gonzo Steamed Vegetable Medley (carrots, broccoli, green beans, corn, cauliflower, peppers, onions, water chestnuts)

Bunsen Honeydew’s Melon Balls
Cookie Monster’s Cookie Ice Cream Sandwiches

Servers will offer a choice of beverage:

Miss Piggy’s Pink Lemonade (“extra sweet, like moi”)
Kermit’s Kooler (lime-flavored soda, with gummy flies frozen into the ice cubes)
Fozzy Navel (peach flavored juice, with a splash of orange juice)

Oh yeah…and tea, coffee, milk & chocolate milk (flies not included!)

After the Meal

The souvenir shop set up outside the old Muppet Vision 3D will keep many of the old souvenirs already available, and will also include a swine trek playset ($39.99…or is that swinety-swine??), which is a replica of the Swine Trek bridge deck, complete with Miss Piggy in her Swine Trek outfit.

Also available for sale (as of September 14th - $16.95) will be the latest book about the Muppets - "It's Not Easy Being Green and other things to Consider", a collection of quotes by Jim Henson, the Muppets and friends.

DVDs of the Muppet Show Season 1 ($35.99), and the latest – Muppets Wizard of Oz ($19.99) will also be on hand for purchase.

Welcome to Haunted Hogwarts!
hauntedhogwarts.jpg

(Formerly the Haunted Mansion)

Hogwart’s students (aka our diners!) enter through the large front doors, ushered in and welcomed most often by Hagrid, although some have also seen Harry Potter himself!

The diners are invited to enter through a large fireplace that is presided over by a portrait of Mr. Gracy (the original owner of the Mansion) shaking hands with Dumbledore. (Much like the image of Mr. Toad handing his deed to Pooh in The Many Adventures of Winne the Pooh!) Helped by a bit of “floo” powder, the diners proceed through the fireplace to what was once the Haunted Mansion’s stretching room which is now an elaborate prank by Peeves, the resident poltergeist. Once the guests are in the room it suddenly appears that there is no escape! The former “stretching” paintings have been replaced by some of the best known paintings from Hogwarts, including the Fat Lady, who is visiting from her frame guarding the Gryffindor’s common room. While Peeves laughs and drips water onto the trapped guests, the occupants of the paintings complain and call for help. Luckily, Hermione has heard the calls and has come to rescue all of our hungry first year students! She enchants one of the walls, which opens and free them from Peeves’ trap. They follow her down the hall to the large dining hall –a room which occupies virtually all of the space previously given to the Haunted Mansion tour.

slytherin_flags.jpg

The dining hall is large and resplendent. The colours and flags of the four Hogwart’s houses decorate the walls and glowing candles hover in mid air. As the diners gaze upwards they see the bewitched ceiling which reflects a variety of weather conditions. It is the colour that makes guests feel the warmth and comfort of Hogwarts' Great Hall, the floating candles casting their yellow light, the golden plates, the white linen tablecloths take on a yellow shade in the candlelight, so that the feeling we get is that of coziness and comfort.

Guests are ushered past other diners who have already begun eating and are welcomed by the head table which contains all of the teachers of Hogwarts; Professors Sprout, Snape, Binns, McGonagall, Trelawney, Flitwick and Dumbledore. There is time here for photos and autographs or, if you are very hungry, the teachers will be happy to chat with you following your meal! Every meal at Haunted Hogwarts is a full character meal!

sortinghat.jpg

The diners take the stage at the front of the room. (Diners who do not wish to participate may wait at the front for their table assignments.) The extra large (6 feet in diameter) audio-animatronics sorting hat descends on either the “head” of the family or the entire family – whichever the diners choose. The sorting hat will then reveal which house (table) these diners will be joining by announcing their names and the name of their assigned house. (“Bennett Burgess – Ravenclaw!”) Fierce, proud hurrahs arise from those seated at whichever table the new group is assigned.

Dinner at Haunted Hogwarts is served family style at four very long tables, which are divided into tables that seat eight. When a new group arrives at their house’s table they sit at an empty section. Before their eyes, the table’s surface exudes smoke and light and then, magically, a feast appears before their eyes!

Attending any of the students’ needs during their feast, are a number of house elves! (Cast members portraying house elves are “dressed” in plenty of specialty make-up and dish towels!) (Please do not offer them clothing as most prefer to stay at Haunted Hogwarts!)

houself.jpg

Lunches and Dinners at Hogwarts include an impressive list of traditional British food:

Meat options include:
Roast beef, roast chicken, fried sausages, stew, pork chops, shepherd's pie, steak, Cornish pasties, lamb chops, sausages, steak and kidney pudding, steak and kidney pie, black pudding,

With these side dishes:
Bread and crumpets, garden salads, roast potatoes, boiled potatoes, mashed potatoes, chips, Yorkshire pudding, peas, green beans, carrots, and gravy.

Beverages include pumpkin juice and butter beer for the adventurous and sodas, lemonade and water for the timid. Because the Magic Kingdom is a “dry” park we regret that wizarding spirits will not be sold.

Desserts include treacle tart, chocolate balls full of strawberry mousse and clotted cream, sherbet balls, pumpkin tart, apple pies, chocolate éclairs, trifle, strawberries, and rice pudding as well as and ice creams and sundaes of various flavours.

Breakfasts at Hogwarts include:
Porridge, rolls, orange juice, kippers, eggs and bacon, buttered toast with jam, corn flakes, fresh fruit and yogurt.

crest.jpg

While you dine, keep an eye out for the many characters that may be joining you or just “drifting” by. Certainly you see Harry, Ron, Hermione, and their teachers and many others but this is “Haunted Hogwarts” after all and the stars of the show are Sir Nicholas de Mimsy-Porpington (aka as Nearly Headless Nick), the Fat Friar, and The Baron, as well as the many other spirits who call Hogwarts home. At the hour expect a breeze as the owls deliver the mail! (Audio-animatronic owls fly by the tables)

Fans of the original Haunted Mansion will be satisfied to see that many of the original 999 Happy Haunts have chosen to take up residence in the new haunted Hogwarts! You’ll see the hitch-hiking ghosts and the singing busts among them. And look closely at that “head” table! It seems that Madame Leota will be teaching Hogwart’s students how to talk to the dead!

After your sumptuous dessert don’t plan to leave the magic just yet! As you leave the dining hall, you are encouraged to stop and visit Hogsmeade, a small shopping village near Hogwarts which is a true attraction all of its own! You may purchase robes or a wand, visit the joke shop, buy a broom or naturally purchase Harry Potter books and toys.

We highly recommend that you stop and sample the candy at Honeydukes Sweetshop! Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans, Drooble's Best Blowing Gum, chocolate frogs, cauldron cakes, Pepper Imps, tooth flossing string mints, jelly slugs, nougat, coconut ice, toffees, Fizzing Whizbees, ice mice, peppermint toads, cockroach clusters, acid pops. YUM!

Priority Seating is suggested for Haunted Hogwarts. If you choose to make a PS you may also request in which house you’d like to be seated. Please be advised that Gryffindor fills quickly.

(Please note – all spellings in this entry follow current British or Rawling trends!)

As a bonus to our Hogwart’s guests we would like to offer this recipe for Harry Potter’s favourite dessert! (Revealed as such in the fifth Harry Potter book!)
Treacle Tart
There are several versions of treacle tart in England, and everyone has a favourite. It's an easy and economical way to end a meal on a sweet note and use up leftover pastry and bread crumbs. Most English cooks keep treacle (Lyle's Golden Syrup) in the pantry because it is used in many cake and cookie recipes and often as sweetener on porridge.
Most children love this "pudding." You will be amazed how delicious this simple tart is!
35 MINUTES
15 minutes to make
20 minutes to bake
1 basic pie crust (ready-made is fine) (see Note)
1/2 cup of Lyle's Golden Syrup (more generous for larger pie dish) (See Note)
1 cup soft white bread crumbs (more generous for larger pie dish)
Finely grated rind of 1 lemon
Juice of 1/2 lemon
Line a 7-inch, 8-inch or 9-inch shallow pie dish with unbaked pie crust.
Heat oven to 400 degrees.
Gently warm syrup slightly in a pan but don't overheat or leave alone.
Take syrup off heat and stir in bread crumbs, lemon rind and juice.
This should be a fairly stiff mixture. Spread mixture in pie crust. Bake for 20 minutes. Allow to cool before serving.
Makes 8 servings.
Note: Make extra pie dough or use an extra, ready-made piece if you want to make an optional fancy trellis over the filling.
Before baking, cut extra dough into 1/4 inch strips, attach them with a dab of water to the edge of the tart and gently twist them, attaching to the opposite side.
Note: Lyle's Golden Syrup is cane sugar syrup with a delicious, distinctive taste.

Chickapin Hill and the Chickapin Café
Welcome to Chickapin Hill, Disney’s newest and most unique dining experience! Building off of the popularity of the Rainforest Café, and the motion of our very own Garden Grill in Epcot, Disney has turned the popular attraction Splash Mountain into a dining experience you will never forget!

chickapin.jpg

Layout
Your dining adventure begins at the barn that once housed the entry queue for the ride Splash Mountain. Gone are the queue dividers, and added are hay bales placed in front of TVs. Here you can watch the classic tales of Br’er Rabbit as he outwits those wily nasties, Br’er Fox and Br’er Bear. And if you’re lucky, you might just run into Uncle Remus himself.. At select times during the day (see your guidemap for times), Uncle Remus will entertain guests by telling them stories of Br’er Rabbit, Br’er Fox, and Br’er Bear as the guests wait for their tables.

When your table is ready, you will be escorted through the rabbit hole into the heart of Chickapin Hill itself and led to your table. Speaking of tables, you have three choices. When the weather is good, you can be seated along any one of our outdoor patios. For those who remember Splash Mountain, these were where the log took you outside around Chickapin Hill. The flume route has been filled in with industrial ground-foam (like what is found near swimming pools) and colored to represent the water that used to sit there. You may sit in the Briar Patch and dine to the water that continues to rush down the main drop. Or you can take one of the many quieter seats overlooking Frontierland and the Magic Kingdom. Dine next to Br’er Fox’s hole, or listen to Br’er Bear slumber the day away, or join the birds by their birdhouses. There is also outdoor seating available along the lower river terrace, where you can join figures of swamp critters as they fish in the lower river below the Briar Patch or by the Waterfall.

In bad weather, or for a more typical dining experience, take one of our 30 indoor tables that are scattered through the old attraction. You can join the critter country as they fish and enjoy their day in the How Do You Do room, party with the gang in the Zip A Dee Lady room, or luck out with one of our select tables in the Laughing Place.

Or, for the truly unique dining experience, take a seat on one of our 100 new, state of the art, Omnimover Tables. The old ride track has been restructured and refurbished to allow the installation of an indoor-only track based on the omnimover technology found in rides like the Haunted Mansion and Buzz Lightyear. This track moves guests from the original loading area, up to the How do you Do room, past Br’er Rabbit’s family and friends, down into the Laughing Place, and straight to the Zip A Dee Lady room. The big drop that once threw guests into the briar patch has been replaced with a gently-sloping tunnel that weaves through a briar patch before passing guests to the finale room.

The revolving table structure moves at a slow rate, taking approximately 1 hour to pass through the entire sequence (with the restructured route, that comes out to approximately 3 inches per second). Every drop in the ride has been replaced with a gradual slope, and the tables are on cantilevered platforms that ensure that even on slopes, the table surface and guest seats will remain level.

Entertainment
Disney prides itself on entertaining our guests, and we have spared no expense at Chickapin Hill. Every room has its own theme and own entertainment. Every hour on the hour, the revolving tables will stop to allow guests to get up and join in the activity in their area. Guests who participate (especially children) will be given a pressed penny with Chickapin Hill and Br’er Rabbit on it. And every 15 minutes, the audioanimatronic characters come alive to sing their songs.

-The Waiting Room
In the waiting room (the old barn), guests can enjoy the cartoons that inspired the attraction and now the restaurant. Or, at designated times (see your guide map for times), guests can meet Uncle Remus himself. This elderly, African American gentlemen will entertain guests with his stories of Br’er Rabbit, Br’er Fox, Br’er Bear, and the rest of the clan. (Books of the stories he tells are available in the Briar Patch gift shop next door)

-How Do You Do Room
In the How Do You Do Room, children will be invited every hour to join the swamp critters in a parade to the fishing pond. To the sound of the swamp critters singing “How do you do?”, kids will be invited to parade around the room performing the following dance – where no action is indicated, kids are following the leader around the room. All the cast members in the room will perform the dance as well and help watch the children as they follow the designated cast member leader.

Lyrics for How Do You Do:
How do you do (kids bow)
Mighty pleasant greetin’
How do you do (kids wave)
Say it when you're meetin'
How do you do (kids bow)
With everyone repeating
Pretty good sure as your born (kids make an arm motion that indicates satisfaction: hand in a fist to one side, then that fist brought in an arc across the body to their other side, similar to rocking a baby – hereafter referred to as “arm rock”)

What goes up is sure to come down (kids circle their hands then point up to the sky then down to the ground)
A penny lost is a penny found (kids lean down and pick up an imaginary penny)
How do you do (kids turn to each other and wave)
And you'll howdy back (kids turn the other direction and wave)
A little bit of this and a little bit of that
How do you do (kids bow)
Fine how are you
How you come on (kids wave)
Pretty good sure as you're born (arm rock)

Stop jumpin' around you'll run out of breath (kids jump)
Why don't you sit back and calm yourself
You can carry on now if you must
We'll do what we like cause
That suits us

How do you do (kids bow)
Mighty pleasant greetin' (kids wave)
Pretty good sure as you're born (arm rock)
Pretty good sure as you're born (arm rock)

How do you do (kids bow)
Mighty pleasant greetin'
How do you do (kids wave)
Say it when you're meeting
How do you do (kids bow)
With everyone repeatin'
Pretty good sure as you're born (arm rock)
Pretty good sure as you're born (arm rock)

The weather is good the fishing is fine (move arms as though casting a fishing rod)
Oh what do we do with all of our time
Well we sit and we think and we wiggle our toes
That's what you ask us, that's what we know
Pretty good sure as you're born (arm rock)
Pretty good sure as you're born (arm rock)

How do you do (Kids wave in one direction)
Fine how are you (kids wave in the other direction)
How you come on
Pretty good sure as you're born (arm rock)
Pretty good sure as you're born (arm rock)
Pretty good sure as you're born (arm rock)

-The Laughing Place Room
In the Laughing Place Room, every hour kids will be invited to get up and parade around the room to the song “Ev’rybody’s got a Laughin’ Place”. At various points around the room, kids will skip, do leap-frog type leaps (but not over each other), and spin in circles to correspond with the actions taken by the audioanimatronics nearby.

-The Zip-A-Dee-Lady Room (also known as the Finale room)
In the room with the Zip-A-Dee-Lady showboat, once an hour guests will be invited to join in with napkin twirling to the joyful beat of “Zip A Dee Doo Dah”.

-Outdoor seating & Barn Seating
And for those who want a quieter experience, request a seat in any of the outdoor areas or in the barn at the end of the table route. In these areas, there will be no activity.

-Coloring Pages
For those guests, young and old, who like to color, coloring pages are available and will be offered as you are taken to your seat. Choose from three scenes: Br’er Rabbit lounging in front of his home with Mr Bluebird, Br’er Fox and Br’er Bear searching for Br’er Rabbit, and Br’er Rabbit hopping on a rock.

Character Meals
For breakfast and dinner, characters will join diners to sign autographs and take pictures. Br’er Rabbit, Br’er Bear, and Br’er Fox will be available all day. In the morning, Mickey and Pluto will join the swamp critters, and in the evening Chip and Dale will be available. All characters will work their way backwards through the restaurant (in the opposite direction from the motion of the tables) and visit all the seating areas. They will not, however, visit tables in the briar patch tunnel for safety reasons.

brers.jpg

Meal Photos
Before being taken to their table, guests will have the opportunity to get their picture taken with a statue of Br’er Fox and Br’er Bear as the duo looks for the cunning Br’er Rabbit – who is hiding on the end of Br’er Bear’s club. Photo packages will be delivered to guests and available for purchase as either 1 8x10, 2 8x10s, 1 5x7, or a package of 1 8x10, 1 5x7, and 4 wallet-sized photos.

splash-statue.jpg

Cast Members
Cast members will be available in every room to assist guests in finding the exit or restroom in addition to accompanying the characters and serving guests. Costumes will consist of brown slacks and blue and white checkered shirt for the men, and blue dresses with white aprons for the women.

Décor
Beyond what remains of the original attraction, further details have been added to the décor.

-Tables and Chairs
Table tops are designed to look like cross-sections of trees, and the chairs of stationary tables are rocking chairs made of wrought iron, cushioned with brown, comfortable cushions. The outdoor tables are shaded by green patio umbrellas. The chairs around the revolving tables are restricted in movement so that they do not place a guest too close to the boundary of the track. They are designed to resemble logs, much like the original ride vehicles for the attraction.

-Lighting
Additional lighting has been added throughout the restaurant, both indoors and out, and this lighting is themed to the particular room or area. Outside in the restful area along the back of Chickapin Hill, the lighting resembles birdhouses. In the briar patch tunnel and outdoor seating area, lighting blends with the briar patch, resembling vines and thorns. In the How Do You Do room and Zip A Dee Lady room, no additional lighting has been added. But in the passages between rooms, and in the Laughing Place Room, lightning bugs add extra ambiance and glowing cave formations increase lighting to a safe level.

-The Flume
The old drop of Splash Mountain remains as a decorative feature. The water now passes through a recycling system that pumps it from just below the outdoor dining area to the top of the drop where it flows back down in an endless loop. Sitting precariously perched on the edge of the drop is one of the old log ride vehicles, ready to plummet over the edge. Inside the log are animatronic characters of (from front to back) Br’er Rabbit, Br’er Fox, and Br’er Bear.

Music
Music is a constant presence in the restaurant. Every hour on the hour, the background music fades in the three main rooms and the activity music for that area takes over (How Do You Do, Ev’rybody’s Got A Laughing Place, and Zip A Dee Doo Dah). On the 15, 30, and 45 of each hour indoors, the audio-animatronics come alive to repeat their lines from when this was an attraction. Between Splash Mountain themed music, the area music flows through the speakers. This includes instrumental tunes like “Way Down Upon The Swanee River”, “Song of the South”, “Sooner or Later”, “Dueling Banjos”, “Uncle Remus Said”, “Let The Rain Pour Down”, and “Lavender Blue”.

Safety
As always at Disney, the safety of our guests is of utmost importance. Increased lighting in the darker rooms is only the start of our safety considerations. Emergency exits, once hidden from guest view, are now clearly marked. Cast Members are watching the revolving tables constantly and are ready to stop the motion at the slightest hint of danger. Clearances have been checked to ensure that no child or adult could get caught between the tables and chairs and any of the stationary décor. In the briar patch, all thorns have been removed from the briar vines facing guests, and all remaining thorns are blunted to prevent injury. Pressure pads have been placed near each of the audioanimatronics that will temporarily cut power to that figure should anyone get too close. Water has been drained from the majority of the attraction, and where it remains (in areas of the How Do You Do Room, Laughing Place Room, and Zip A Dee Lady room) it is either made inaccessible or reduced to a depth of only a few inches. Fire suppression systems have been beefed up throughout the restaurant, and fireproof doors mark the boundary between kitchen (located backstage where the water tank for Splash Mountain used to be) and the main restaurant.

Menu
Chickapin Hill is open for breakfast (8am – 12 noon), lunch (11 am – 3pm) and dinner (4pm – 9pm or park closing, whichever is earlier).

Breakfast is selected from a menu, and your favorite choices are there. Items include scrambled eggs and bacon with hash browns, a stack of pancakes, biscuits and gravy, various flavors of oatmeal and grits, 2 eggs cooked your way, a wide selection of cereals, and a fruit plate. Or build your own 2 or 3-egg omelet with ingredients like 3 types of cheese, tomato, bacon, ham, green pepper, onion, mushroom, and sausage. And for a different touch, add a side of marinara sauce to any egg dish. Don’t forget the favorites like Mickey Head pancakes and waffles! And for the larger families, the Family Plate is always available, with a family-sized portion of eggs, hash browns, pancakes, sausage, bacon, oatmeal, fresh fruit, and biscuits – and all of it all-you-can-eat. We even have crepes available, plain or stuffed! Or for the more adventurous, try the specialty of the house: stuffed beignets! (Beignets are puffed pastries similar to doughnuts) Crepes and beignets can be stuffed with scrambled eggs and cheese, salmon and asparagus (seasonal), fresh fruit (strawberries, bananas, blueberries, raspberries, apples, and peach), vanilla custard, chocolate pudding, or whip cream. Fruit can be combined with the custard, pudding, or whip cream and these combinations are available all day.

main.jpg

After 11 am, the menu blends your favorite “down home country cooking” with a Cajun flare. Menu items include juicy pot roast, fried chicken, chicken fried steak with gravy, chicken fried chicken with gravy, pork chops, chicken and turkey pot pies, fried or grilled catfish, roast turkey dinner, grilled chicken, and beef stew. Don’t forget the wide selection of vegetables, including steamed carrots, black eyed peas, green beans, whole kernel corn, fried okra, green peas, cole slaw, macaroni and cheese, and squash casserole.

Or for a taste of New Orleans, select Jambalaya (a flavorful combination of rice, sausage, and seasoning), chicken or shrimp gumbo (a thick stew served in a breadbowl), shrimp or crawfish etouffee (a thick, spicy seafood stew served over white rice), shrimp creole (shrimp in a tomato and roux base), boudin (a Cajun sausage stuffed with pork and rice), and fried alligator.

Especially for the kids, we offer macaroni and cheese, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, mini corndogs, pizza, and fish sticks.

And don’t forget dessert! In addition to the stuffed crepes and beignets (available all day), we offer peach cobbler, apple pie, vanilla ice cream, chocolate mousse, key lime pie, and the specialty of the house: the chocolate splash, which is a rich, hot chocolate fudge encased in a moist chocolate cake shell.

For beverages, we offer the usual line of water (tap or bottled), soda, iced tea, our specialty flavored teas in peach, blackberry, and apricot, coffee, lemonade, and a non-alcoholic mint julep (a sweet lemon-limeade with a touch of mint).

Chickapin Hill Café
On a run to make your fastpass time at Thunder Mountain or catch the evening parade? You can enjoy some of the highlights of our menu at the counter service of Chickapin Hill Café. Fifteen tables have been set up outside in the old queue area for Splash Mountain, and an additional ten can be found in the old photo gift shop. Chickapin Hill Café is open for lunch and dinner, and offers fried chicken with cole slaw, chicken or turkey pot pies, beef stew in a breadbowl, jambalaya, chicken or shrimp gumbo in a breadbowl, boudin, fried alligator, and our full kids menu. You can also stop in for a glass of our iced tea, flavored iced teas, lemonade, or a mint julep to go.

SPECIAL EVENT
We at Disney and Chickapin Hill especially are devastated at the damage done along the gulf coast, especially the region around which the Br’er Rabbit stories, Splash Mountain attraction, this restaurant, and our food is based. To aid in the relief efforts, for the month of September, 75% of profits from this restaurant will go to the Red Cross and Salvation Army.
