I'm guessing there is something in that story that you don't know. You did just fine. It probably scared her to realize that she had put her kids at risk and was not the first grownup there. Could be she was feeling pressure to be all things to all people and you took the heat. Not to worry!
You didn't do anything wrong. Maybe the mom was just having a bad day or week. Maybe she is rude. Who knows? Bottom line is you didn't do anything wrong by offering to help.
I'm glad the situation didn't scare you from helping, I would have been grateful to have someone offer to help!
I think a lot of people are kind of paranoid these days when it comes to their kids or their parenting decisions. I've had a similar experience as you - in a grocery store there was a display of canned vegetables stacked in a pyramid, kid grabbed one out of a row near the bottom, I grabbed him and moved him as the cans started coming down at him, parents SCREAMED at me for touching their child. I think they were just afraid that either I had bad intentions with being near their child (though I am quite the opposite of intimidating looking), or that they were afraid they would be judged for letting their child have access to do that in the first place. People don't take many things at face value anymore.
This mom agrees with all the above posters...I would be mad if you hadn't stopped to check on my kids and just kept on jogging!! Don't know what that moms' issue was but you were totally in the right. You acted on instinct, you'll make a good mom
Well I think you were wrong... to not tell her where to stick her attitude. What is wrong with people today. Of course you did the right thing it would have been wrong to just ignore a hurt child. What were you supposed to do say excuse me as you stepped over a bleeding child geeze!!!
