Attention Hollywood: No more remakes!!

I am excited to go see a new Clash of the Titans.

Anyway every chick flick is inspired by Jane Austen and action movies are ripped off from Japanese anime. That is Hollywood.:rotfl:

I just don't care.

As far as Spiderman, thank goodness. I could not stand Tobey Keith as Peter Parker and Kirsten Dunst as Mary Jane. It was just an odd match for me.

I wish they would remake "The DaVinci Code" now. I will never get over Tom Hanks as Robert Langdon.:headache:

I have no problem with ideas being lifted or inspiring a film. I have a problem with do-overs.

And I know you made an oops but I laughed out loud when you said you hated Tobey KEITH as Peter PArker.

Originality is dead AND it's Hollywood is humiliating it's corpse. I'm all for tweaking a story to make it fresh, but out and out do-overs of classic (and not so classic films)??? SO unnecessary. Just read that J-Lo has been tapped to star in a remake of one of my favorite comedies...Overboard. WHY?? That movie is hilarious and needs to be left alone! Let's take a look at several other re-dos currently finished, in the works or rumored...

The Karate Kid
Monster Squad
Police Academy
Arthur
They Live
The Crazies
Romancing The Stone
Fantastic Voyage
Back To School
Meatballs
Metropolis (sacrilege...film school around the world must be in a tizzy)
Dirty Dozen
Conan
Deathwish
Footloose
Red Dawn
Short Circuit
The Thing (already BEEN remade..do we need another??)
The Birds
Hellraiser
Poltergeist
Nightmare on Elm Street
Westworld
Child's Play
The Rocky Horror Picture Show (heads will roll...and toast...toast too)
Flash Gordon
Rosemary's Baby
Forbidden Planet
The Last Starfighter
Near Dark
Barbarella
Red Sonja
Angel Heart
My Fair Lady
All Of Me
10
Highlander (I thought there could be only one??)
Spiderman

You want to base a movie on the original and make a film inspired by a classic original...go for it. But these do-over Reboots are out of control! FTR, I am only going to see Clash of the Titans to oogle Sam Worthington. The original was one of my favorite movies as a kid.

And I'm done...

There is a lot of movies on this list I would refuse to watch if they remade it.

Overboard, Monster Squad, Police Academy, Poltergeist, Red Dawn, Back to School, Footloose and the Karate Kid. There are just some movies that should never be remade.

I just noticed that.:lmao:

Not that I hated him or anything, it is just I thought they could find better chemistry, you know? It made the story flat to me if that makes sense.

And anyway Karate Kid was already remade with a girl.

They're re-doing The A-Team too.

Yeah. I saw the trailer from a link someone posted on here last month. Sorry, but you just can't replace the original actors, IMO. No one can replace George Perpard (RIP).

It's a shame starsky and hutch flopped. I want a CHiPs movie.

They are not redoing the A-Team. They are making a full length feature film of a tv show (wnother hollywood staple I've had enough of).

I believe they are in the process of making Footlose with Chace Crawford and Ashley Tisdale

I don't mind a decent remake but certain movies should be left alone.

Rocky Horror Picture Show is one of them.

Agreed, why mess with perfection :confused3

After S&H I figured that would be the next one, I'm still waiting. I have faith there will be CHiPs movie :goodvibes

Agreed. I'm dreading the idea that people are going to re-do all the John Hughes movies at some point :( I just have a feeling now that they have gotten attention again that some studio is going to go back and remake them all. And could somebody explain why we are already re-doing Spiderman? I agree about Metropolis 100% too...that shouldn't be touched ever. I'd just like to find a good copy to buy, if anyone has any links hint hint :thumbsup2

Also, not a remake but they are making a Nirvana movie.................. I just can't see them doing justice even though (maybe especially lol) because Courtney Love is heavily involved. Supposedly she wants Ewen McGregor to play Kurt.

:scared1: :sad2:

I agree about the DaVinci Code, that one I would love to see a remake. They did a horrible job with it, not just having Tom Hanks but they left out so much of what really made the book so interesting. I didn't like any of the actors they put in it either.

whereas i agree that Tom Hanks was an odd choice for Robert Langdon(he was a bit old to be playing him, i believe in the book Langdon was in his early 30's) but the only part i know they left out of that was her being the actual decendant of Christ, everything else they got pretty well.

i didn't think Angels and Demons was very good tho.

To be fair...Metropolis isn't being remade...what we are going to be getting is a complete version of the original film that was edited...and re-edited so many times that a large portion of the original film was lost. Film historian have finally tracked down what they believe is every last existing peice of the original film and have worked tirelessly to re-cut it back together as well as clean the entire film and create a digital print that will show the film in all its glory. I for one cannot wait for this!

As to the other remakes...so of them simply make no sense.

The Karate Kid-Saw the trailers...as a film it doesn't look bad...however Chan isn't teaching the boy karate...he's teaching him kung fu!!!

Spiderman-I know the franchise's wheels feel off in the third movie, but I think some time should be allowed to pass before re-booting it.

Clash of the Titans-Sorry...I'd love to rail against this one as I love the original so much...but the new one looks outstanding!

Conan-Isn't a remake...it's just another film in the series.

Highlander-Wasn't that great to begin with...why bother?

The one not on the list that blew my mind when I found out about it...they are re-booting the American Pie franchise!!!

Why...just...WHY???

How about too old, dull, not exciting, totally wrong, I could go on. I will never let that go.

Tom Hanks is not a character actor.

OK rant over.:lmao:

I love the movie Overboard- It makes me sad they want a "do over" :sad2:

If they do MoonStruck I'll be LIVID! :headache:

And My Fair Lady.... WHO in their right mind would think they could fill Audrey Hepburn's shoes?

The reason Spiderman is being fast-tracked is (from what I have heard) so that they can tie it in to the new Hulk, Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, and Avengers movies. (I have heard that the new Spidey stuff is going to be based on the Ultimate Spiderman series, which was a Marvel reboot a few years ago.)

The extended version of Highlander is better, but as far as I am concerned, there was only one Highlander movies. And then a couple pieces of %(*&$%* that tried to attached themselves, like a remora, to a cult film.

As to why Hollywood is doing it - I suspect they figure that a movie version of Gilligans Island, or a remake of Romancing the Stone is safer than coming up with something even remotely original.

(Last night, some friends of mine and I decided that a Gilligan's Island movie would be terrible, but if it were directed by Michael "Explosions! Explosions! Women! Explosions!" Bey, and starred Angelina Jolie and Megan Fox, it would still break $300 million. $350 if there was a banana cream pie catfight.)

Well they re-made an incredible hulk movie less than 5 years after the original and asked everyone to forget that one, lol

As far as Metropolis, if that's the case they have the full version... then I can't wait!!

The new Karate Kid movie looks decent.

I don't mind if they try to make a sequel to an existing movie (TRON: Legacy), but yes, there needs to be a LOT more originality in hollywood, unfortunately originality doesn't = guaranteed income that stockholders want. The recent exceptions are Disney/Pixar and James Cameron and even they are coming out with sequels!

Right. Hollywood is same ole same ole driven for dollars. Same with music.

For example, I am watching Caprica on SyFy, which I find to be ripped a bit off The Matrix, which was ripped from Japanese anime. No surprise there however bummer to learn that it was not original. Same with Disney and "The Lion King". I was so amazed at the creativity of the movie until I found out yrs later that it was ripped from Kimba The White Lion.

Chick flicks are ripped from Jane Austen and SyFy is ripped from Jules Verne and fantasy is ripped from Tolkien.

I just try to enjoy the directors and screenwriters version now. Makes life easier.:rotfl:
