-- Why God made New Jersey

Once upon a time in the kingdom of Heaven, God was missing for six days. Eventually, Michael the archangel found him, resting on the seventh day. He inquired of God. "Where have you been?"

God signed a deep sigh of satisfaction and proudly pointed downwards through the clouds, "Look Michael, look what I've made." Archangel Michael looked puzzled and said, "What is it?"

It's a planet," replied God, "and I've put Life on it. I'm going to
call it Earth and it's going to be a great place of balance."
"Balance?" inquired Michael, still confused.

God explained, pointing to different parts of earth. "For example,
northern Europe will be a place of great opportunity and wealth while southern Europe is going to be poor."

"Over there I've placed a continent of white people and over there is a continent of black people," God continued, pointing to different countries. "This one will be extremely hot and while this one will be very cold and covered in ice."

The Archangel, impressed by God's work, then pointed to a land mass and said, "What's that one?" "Ah," said God. "That's NEW JERSEY, the most glorious place on earth.

There are beautiful lakes, rivers, streams, hills, forests, and a
magnificent ocean! The people from NEW JERSEY are going to be handsome, modest, intelligent and humorous and they are going to be found traveling the world. They will be extremely sociable, hardworking and high achieving, and they will be known throughout the world as diplomats and carriers of peace."

Michael gasped in wonder and admiration but then proclaimed, "What about balance, God? You said there would be balance!!!"

God replied wisely, "Wait until you see the people I'm surrounding
them within New York, Pennsylvania, and Delaware!

Uh, is it PC to laugh at this JOKE. It is cute but I know how touchy folks can be. Being from NJ, I have never heard anything like this...I've always had people say mean things like I was from the armpit of the nation and stuff like that.:(

Is traveling the world, Disneyworld?:teeth:

...I didn't realize that the Path train took you to paradise. :)

"Joisey"...oy. :)

I agree, far more humorous switching NJ and NY (closer to the truth too ;):) )

Being a "jerseyian", I've never gotten off on these "state wars" we seem to have around here. I live in NY now. I love it just as much as I loved living in NJ.

I dont' feel superior because I'm from NJ. Nor do I feel like I'm at the top of the world because I now live in NY. I have dear friends in PA and Delaware.

So.. I really just don't find the joke funny - but different strokes for different folks. :)

I love it. Of course Ney York is rotten to the core. LOL;) :jester:

I've seen this one before. And I must agree a zillion percent since I was born in NJ. :teeth:

It's nice to see something that paints New Jersey in a positive light--even if it is a humorous writing. I am REALLY tired of all the NJ jokes and derogatory comments. Never had any negative feelings about Pennsylvania or Delaware though.

I just have to put my .02 cents here. I have lived in NJ for over 30 years and I find that it gets more crowded by the second!!!!!I live in Bergen County and I would move to Florida in an instant if we could (soooon, we hope). The roads are way to congested, and try as they may this state just can't keep up with the over population. Basically, it is a nice state with the ocean, lakes, etc. but if we want to go any of these places we must fight unbearable traffic unless we could go during the week, but we work too!!!!!! So as nice as it it, you really can't get anywhere!!!!!!!!!!!

You for got the rest Antnee: He said:

Those people will be just as blessed and have the same attributes as those of Jersians! To balance things out I will make a sports team called the Redsox and create followers for them!

PS. This was typed tongue in cheek. I love all of my fellow Northeasterners but I couldn't pass a chance to put a dig on my brother EROS!;) ;) ;)

Yes you do,too bad you don't recognize it when you see it though Deb.:teeth:

Buck, did I know you were from New Jersey??? (senior moment)

I was born in New Jersey and lived there until I was 15. I love NJ and my kids love NJ (DH...not so much  )...it will always hold a special place in my heart as "home". And I always kind of think of NY (city & state) as an extension of NJ, and vice versa...a wonderful area.

Mare,
Maybe not. I don't know how you could miss my whiney posts about missing real pizza, cheesesteaks and Tastykakes though. ;)

I moved from Long Beach Island when I was 10. Were you North or South. I was taught that there was a difference.;) :p

Yeah, 'cause when people make those jokes about Joisey, they're talkin' 'bout NORTH JOISEY! :p ;)

Brenda, we've missed heroes (aka "subs" or "grindas" ), real provolone cheese and hard rolls.

(Hey, Cookie! ;) ) We lived in Northeastern NJ...Dumont, to be exact...about 20 minutes from the George Washington Bridge. I don't even know where Long Beach Island is! Near the shore, I presume. I never ventured much further than Bergenfield, Hackensack, and Paramus...to shop. :teeth:

Mare,
I feeel like I didn't get off that Island too much because I don't remember much past going to Manahawkin to shop (I don't think that was even real shopping back then! LOL)
I was born in Cookie's town of Tom's River. :)
LBI is about 1 hour above Atlantic City. It is a great place (IMHO)
LOL@ Cookie's comment. ;) I wasn't gonna say that though. :teeth:

New Jersey is like a big high school party. Four or five months out of the year folks from New York, PA, and Delaware trample their way into New Jersey, take advantage of our beaches and everything we have to offer. Then, at the end of the season, they trample their way back home and continue to come up with "clever" insults about the state they just visited. Meanwhile, all the locals are left to clean up the mess left from their ever so gracious guests. And the cycle continues.

It's kinda like bullies and nerds. The nerds are cool when they have something to offer the bullies. Once there isn't anything left to offer, the nerds go back to their status as just another nerd.
