I thought this would be important to pass along to fellow Disney fans such as yourselves. I found this article on the waltdisney.org site.

Generally speaking, writing the “What’s New” section is the most fun we have each month in assembling the Walt Disney Family Museum. This is our chance to brag about features on the site of which we’re particularly proud. Even when we’re writing about someone who has passed on, we like to think of it as an opportunity to celebrate their life.

This month, however, we come to you with some rather unpleasant news that we believe you should hear.

A couple of weeks ago, we heard from Walt’s daughter, Diane Disney Miller. She was distraught. It seems that various items, of a rather personal nature, bearing her dad’s signature have been showing up on eBay and other similar venues. These included things like cancelled personal checks, Walt Disney Productions stock, and certificates issued to some of Walt’s grandchildren. The most alarming was an original copy of a particularly important agreement Walt had with the company. As far as Diane knew, there were only two copies of this agreement; one of which belonged to her father, the other of which should still be in the Company’s files.

The problem, as you’ve doubtless guessed, is that there is simply no way that these items could or should have found their way into public hands. As Diane told us, “This matter really disturbs me and my family. It is another violation of our privacy and appears to be criminal rather than careless in nature.”

How did these items find their way onto the Internet? We don’t know yet. Naturally, Diane and her family are taking steps to look into this matter and, with luck, will get to the bottom of it.

But in the meantime, she very much wanted you, the guests of the Walt Disney Family Museum, to be made aware of the situation. First, it is critical that you understand that Walt’s family has absolutely nothing to do with this influx of memorabilia in the marketplace. Additionally, there is the possibility that perhaps some of you might have information that would be helpful in finding the source of the problem. If you do, please feel free to write to us at the Family Museum. Any constructive information would be appreciated.
