Attention all MNSSHPers

It looks like the same Executives at Disney that came up with the COLD POOLS POLICY are now taking their special brand of cheap sneaky management to other events that do effect other guests enjoyment.
Unfortunately, I have to agree. However, if this 7pm park closure is implemented, guests will from now on have a choice as to whether or not they wish to pay to go to these events. I think it will prove in the long-term to be a very bad decision on the part of cheap, sneaky management. ;)

I called and talked to a CM, she assurd me that anyone without a
band on there arm can not paticipate in any of the activities.
That includes the rides, trick or treating and meeting the characters. :thumbsup2

Unless I'm mistaken, this is the same policy that was used for MVMCP last year, which we attended. At the time I was very skeptical that it would work, but it looked to me as if the system in place was very efficient in removing those who did not have party tickets. I was quite impressed!

Plus, for those there with tickets, I was appreciative of the fact that I did not have to leave for an hour or so just to wait in a massive line to get back in. I'm sure everyone with a ticket would want to be in the front of that re-entrance line to take full advantage of the alloted time. After dealing line park lines all day, that would be a lot of fun!

I went back and looked at park closing for last year and during MVMCP the parks closed at 6 and the party started at 7. You don't have to leave teh park you are guided to an area inside the park to hang out and ride until teh park is cleared.

Third email. I would like to point out that I have not purchased tickets but I think there is a valid concern here about what's fair to ticket holders. I think anyone who says to trust Disney on this issue is being naive. Oh, and Beattyfamily, I hope it's OK to call you my friend. :) Apologies to pirate/princess ticket holders but it's just my opinion.

To Whom It May Concern:

A friend received a call from Michelle at Disney's Executive Offices confirming that the Magic Kingdom will not close to day guests until 7pm on Halloween party nights. Michelle said that the parties will be run like the evening Extra Magic Hours (EMH) with simultaneous park closing/party starting.

First I would like ask that Disney not add insult to injury by equating the hard ticket events with the EMH nights. EMH nights are free to all resort guests and the hard-ticket events cost dearly. I also expect that Disney's park clearing efforts are not very effective as they'd like to think as I have heard many stories of how people have learned to abuse the EMH system to stay in the parks. I predict that with a 7pm closing time, it will not be long until they figure out how to abuse the hard ticket events as well. Ticket holders expect, and rightly so, that the event is exclusive from start to finish.

Another concern is that with simultaneous park closing/party starting, day guests will most certainly be everywhere when the parties start. They will still be in line for the rides, eyeing the Halloween decorations, in line to see the characters in costume, etc. Who will be in a hurry to leave? I predict total chaos and many scenes as CMs try to give the "bum's rush" to lingering day guests. Quite simply, there is a precident in place as to how the parks are cleared for the Halloween and Christmas parties. To change that precident after ticket sales have begun is, at the least, in very bad form and at the most, actionable.

My suggestion would be that if Disney wants to experiment with new park closing procedures for hard ticket events, they should start with the new parties in 2007 as there is no expectation about how those parties will be run. If you perfect the park sweeping techniques to the satisfaction of the ticket holders at those parties, then no harm done.

I ask that Disney consider closing the Magic Kingdom to day guests at 6pm for all 2006 parties and then, if there is to be a change this monumental next year, an announcement can and should be made concerning the change before tickets go on sale. This would seem to be the only reputable thing to do.

Thank you for your time.

Job well done. Thanks from all of us concerned. I will send another e-mail tonight.

Wow.
My sons and I are excitingly waiting for our first hard ticket event for the MNSSHP on Halloween night! I remember last year when we were out trick-or-treating in our neighborhood I mentioned how wonderful it would be to be in the Magic Kingdom on Halloween! They agreed and we bought our costumes in December  If you see Jack Skellington, the Mayor and Oogie Boogie - it may be us!
Anyway, we are really looking forward to the party and realize that it will probably be packed on 10/31 - but nevertheless, we can't wait.
I bought the tickets under the premise that the park would be closed to all but the ticket holders. This is especially important because we are going Halloween night and assume it would be a sell-out. I am not so sure I would have bought the tickets had I known before that this policy may be in effect.
As it stands, we are going with the attitude of having a blast. I suppose it is more important to me that it 1) Not rain. 2) Not be too hot. We'll have to go with the flow and are so pumped up about the party that I won't allow some deceptive people ruin our time.
I work with the public all day and have unfortunately gotten used to the fact that some folks will take advantage and be devious to get something for free - especially from a large corporation - because they feel entitled to something for nothing. I don't want to be that way, nor have my boys grow up thinking that.
I will watch the information posted here and trust that Disney will make the right decision. Now....don't start me venting on the changes to the 2007 Dining Plan! LOL! :rotfl:

You're welcome. I'm interested in this situation because I had intended to buy tickets but had not yet purchased. Now just waiting on Disney and/or first hand reports before spending the extra $190 to attend on 9/29.

I know exactly what you mean. We need ten tickets (7 at adult prices) for our upcoming trip. I am holding off buying them. We plan on attending 10/5. We went last year and it was wonderful eating at Cosmic Ray's at 6:00 p.m., then they let us into Fantasyland at 6:45 p.m since they were already done setting up.

I will go on September 15th with a positive attitude (I know, after thinking that non-paying guests may be there, too, I will have to work on the attitude part ;) ).

However, I will definitely ask for a refund when I get back home from guest services if some of these "fears" ring true. I'm not embarassed at all to ask for a refund, especially since I purchased my ticket in good faith that MNSSHP was for ticket holders only.

After re sending my message, after the automatic one was sent to me from Disney, saying they will get back to me if they think necessary.......!!!!!!

Ive X ed out some info for security.

Ive left my number in the Uk and ive replied by e mail.

Of course I will share any info I get on here.

Fingers crossed its positive and definate !

I, like a previous poster suggested, am resending my email and asking for further clarification. I just got the standard email from Disney and while I'm glad they "appreciate [my] comments", what I was interested in was them answering my questions.

Out of curiosity, since the MNSSHP tickets are VERY costly for a family to purchase and non-refundable, if Disney does not effectively clear the park of day guests as they CLAIM they can do, would we as ticket holders have a case for a class action suit against Disney for not honoring their agreement to keep all these day guests out if they don't issue refunds to those who may feel it necessary to ask... Any lawyers out there have any opinons???

I love Disney but I paid good money to enjoy this special event. I feel kind of cheated that all of a sudden AFTER I purchased tickets, Disney is changing their park clearing policies. My family is going to be in the MK the day of the party... We are not there to ride rides, We want to see the decorations, parade & fireworks show. It will be VERY unfair on Disney's part if I could have done all these things for FREE!

We paid for our tickets on Credit card. Ive spoken to them already ( in case) and yes they can refund my payment, and then dispute with disney on my behalf. However you have to complain on the actual night, taking names etc and their reply. Also video or photo evdence is very useful, for them to procude the claim.

WE ARE FROM THE UK, so it might be different for you guys.

Thats why ive emailed now, to try and prove due diligence, that Ive raised concerns, and requested clarification BEFORE the party.
Obvioulsy I will keep and file their replies.

Why has it got to this??????

Come on disney, wake up and treat your paying customers fairly !!!

Not a lawyer but have participated in a class action lawsuit and in my opinion I would think that there would be grounds for action on the premise of
A) False Advertising and
B) Not upholding their end of the agreement (the agreement being the ticket to what is advertised as a private ticket only party).

I would think that if WDW did not show that they tried to remove unpaying guests then there would be grounds for action.

Still hoping for the best though.

I swear this just gets worse and worse for me! :sad2:

Not only did I already buy the stupid tickets ($130 worth of tickets, thank you very much) but I paid CASH for them. No credit card protection for me, even if other people are lucky enough to go that route.

Note to self:
Do NOT buy tickets to supposedly "private" hard ticket events with cash.

Our tickets are printed on ROOM KEYS since I bought them at AKL at the lobby concierge, and I did not receive a receipt OR any sort of printed info as far as their liability, etc.

And to think I get on DH about buying really expensive fishing lures and losing them in the lake. I could have just stood on the banks of the lake and thrown $130 into it, then still gone to MVMCP for FREE!! :furious:

 um, yeah...just like they did @ MVMCP last year? I've got a theory w/WDW CM's, ask the same question enough times & you'll eventually get the answer you want to hear.:confused3

Perhaps the CM's will step up to the plate & enforce the wristbands:wizard: .

Don't want to appear negative...even after being discouraged w/how the "day guests" weren't ushered out of park @ Xmas, we elected to purchase the MNSSHP party tix to experience the halloween magic...in whatever form it takes.

Should I phrase it:

don't get "fooled again"...or "trick or treat" Disney style?

Somehow, I wouldn't count on things changing this year compared to last. :sad2:

I am willing to wait and see how the Halloween party turns out and then make a decision based on that. I really want my family to experience it since it will likely be a once in a lifetime trip for them, but if it isn't going to be anywhere close to the hard ticket event that it is marketed as, I'm thinking they won't be happy about buying tickets for it.

We Treat Disney to our hard earned dollars and they Trick us with a not very private private party.

I have not received any replies to my e-mails.

I haven't sent any e-mails, but was told by the woman I spoke to at Disney Dining that the park will close at 6:00 on party nights.

I am hopeing for the best too. This is our frist MNSSHP and I am sure I will have a good time regardless. However, if Disney did get hit with a class action lawsuit, I bet their corporate policies regarding clearing the parks for future parties would change really quick!

I finally decided I am aggravated enough to e-mail them. I used the "contact us" link off the official site, so they will get my message already tagged with my physical address and phone # in case they care to see how much money we have spent with them recently.

Let's remember that the Dining CMs aren't even in Orlando. They are in Tampa. They have no clue what time the park is closing other than past experience and/or what their computer screen shows.

The ONE shred of hope I have is that for our August trip they changed MK closing time 2 weeks before we left. I wasn not happy about that, but they did it, and it wasn't for any special event. They just decided to close at 10 PM instead of 11 PM, and they bumped the parade and fireworks to an hour earlier, too!

The Disney site says "a separate ticket is required" for MVMCP and it also says (on the same page) park hours are subject to change without notice. Good. Change them without notice. To closing at 6 PM!
