We will be dining at Jiko for the first time in 3 weeks. I am so excited, but wanted to ask your suggestions on what to order. What is your favorite meal at Jiko? What about your favorite Jiko wine or specialty drink? Don't forget about dessert!!!

TIA,
Hentob

We have only dined there once but I loved the filet with macaroni and cheese. I very seldom order steak as we seem to have it at home so often but because of reviews on this board I tried it. It is soooo good. Can't remember the wine but it was good:D . Sorry. My daughter enjoyed her monkfish.

if you are staying at the AKL, take the lodge tour, at the end of the tour they will take you down stairs where the a hostess will give descriptions of the offerings at Boma & then take you over to Jiko to sample some of their appetizers, they had 3 types of hummus to sample w/ pita & a "home made spicy cracker" style chip (the sun dried tomato hummus was wonderful, I've never tried hummus before because I didnt think it would be something I would like but ended up falling in love with it).

After the tour we stayed & talked with the guide a bit & he did say the menu at Jiko has more Americanized types of food, foods he didnt see in his country of Africa. A guest I spoke to the other day when I was there stated she ate at Jiko the night before & the food was way overpriced for the amount of food served. She order spring rolls that she said ended up being 2 spring rolls for something like 7 bucks. She said she was disappointed in her experience at Jiko, did not feel she received a value for what she paid for. I dont know if Jiko was the only restaurant you wanted to go to but we did Boma & I completely loved it. for 21.99 (including the non-alcoholic drink) you had many many things to choose from, alot of which is probably also served at Jiko. Boma also offers 14 or 16 (cant remember which) different desserts on the buffet in wonderful little "h'orderve" size portions so you can try several.

I skimmed the menu at Jiko and was not impressed. Please, please make PS's for Boma if you decide to go there instead because they were quite busy when we went for our PS's of 7:30.

I love Jiko's--and can recommend the Monkfish, the filet and macaroni, and the Pistachio Creme Bruleee for dessert. They do have a fine wine list, and beers include Zambezi and Casablanca.

I too love Jiko. The food and service have been wonderful all 3 times we have eaten there, and it is on the "Must Do" list for our November trip.

I can recommend the monkfish and the Tofu with Kamut. As a matter of fact, I would like to have either of them right about now. That's what I get for going on the restaurant board while hungry.

The wine list is packed with South African Wines; since we are unfamiliar with them in general, we let our server help is choose and were not at all disappointed.

Restaurants are always a personal preference, but we found Jiko to be a much better value, not to mention a much more pleasant dining experience than it's buffet cousin Boma. We enjoy relaxing carefully prepared meals and great service while we are on vacation at WDW. That's exactly what we got at Jiko.

This is my favorite WDW restaurant. The filet is IMHO the very best on property. We've always had excellent service, and teh atmosphere is wonderful as well.

Another ditto for the filet with mac/cheese. The BEST steak on property. The onion/bacon flatbread was very yummy as well.

I won't torture you with the best dessert bar none because they no longer offer it. :(
