Looks to me like they have re-created the DC
But it's great to know they will be there when the time comes. I was really gonna miss my MKC/DC card after over 15 years
I'm sure the overwhelming demand will indicate that Disney loyalists demand special treatment. And with all the sales that will come from this it has to be a win win situation for all.
You know I thought hard about this card, and the shiney Day 1 thing, and I really wanted someone to talk me into it. I mean we have AP discounts,
DVC discounts, so it had to be something worth it to push me over the edge. But gosh, you know, the more I think about this, the more I think it is pretty sad, and a really bad move by Disney.
So, to be a "loyalist" you have to be willing to make be willing to make a commitment that requires you to re-think your credit habits, budget decisions, etc. and commit to a new credit card.
So the people who aren't willing to choose another credit card are cut out. There is no option like the disney club, where anyone could choose to join. Also, I've noticed more than a couple of posts where people who considered themselves loyal customers were declined for the card, because of divorce, etc. So people without a credit history or a bad history aren't considered loyal customers. I wonder if those people also will miss the MKC/DC card after 15 years...
I can remember on the disboards when people were very upset that "codes" were published only for certian states or in certain newspapers. There were people who argued that it wasn't fair that they could not use those discount codes because they lived in another state. This sort of reminds me of that.
After the talk about rewards for frequent and loyal customers, Disney has decided that willingness to take another credit card is what indicates you are a loyal customer. And after all the talk about personalizing the relationship between Disney and those frequent customers, they have decided to let a credit card company make the decision for them about who those loyal customers are. I find that sort of disturbing.
I'm sure that it will generate some quick capital for the Disney Co, but I'm not convinced that it is a "win/win situation for all."
