Welcome to our group scottab.

Having never been to Nassau I cannot advise what you and your family should do. We will be spending a good part of the day at the Atlantis Resort. We booked a room at the Comfort Suites which gives us privileges at Atlantis to use the water slides, pools, etc.

I never played quarters!!!!!! I have heard of it though.

Hi all...

Did I miss anything exciting? I haven't come up for air at work in several days... vacation seems like a distant thought with what I am up against right now. My goal now is just to get out from under all this before we leave. We leave for the airport at 4AM on Friday...I go off call from work at 3AM...

(Boarding the plane) "Sir, can I get you anything?" "Yes, thank you, I'll have 7 beers, 2 valium and a pillow to scream into... And some peanuts."

DW says we got both sets of docs today, so we're official I guess.

Mo - I know what you mean about the heat - it was exactly 100 degrees here today. Not real comfy in a black suit. It's one of the drawbacks of California, I suppose - There's no 'escapist quality' in going to the tropics... it's hotter here!

Tim - I'll play quarters with you and I'll whoop your ... I just hate losing at drinking games... "Uh oh, gotta drink a beer now! Damn!"

Hate when that happens.

Beano, I am glad you said Hi. I was worried that you started talking to your "clients" and not to us. I was gonna send out a search and rescue team to find you, but no one wanted to go to Fresno. I just hope you don't work too hard. We miss you on the board. (being nice to you was a lot harder than I thought it would be)

Lynne what room are you in on Deck 7? WE are in 7100. I hope we aren't neighbors because I heard you wear buckets on your head. Frankly, that just scares me! (just joking).

I am gonna call about gift baskets for the kids this week. I have Mickey beach towels, capri sun, glow sticks, cruise map, sand bucket for the younger one. Does anyone have other ideas that would be a must for the kid's gift baskets?

How about a lanyard with some "starter" pins so they can start trading right away with castmembers? Autograph books are a staple. A t-shirt to get signed by the characters (I've also seen hats, pillowcases, and canvas bags signed). You'll take them to Guest Services one day and pick them up another with all of the autographs on them. You could include swim goggles and underwater cameras. Dramamine, perhaps?

My boys liked having a fanny pack or a lanyard w/pocket to collect and carry all of the ship trading cards while on board.

And, Rose, you can count yourself lucky that we'll be on opposite ends of the ship (albeit on the same hallway). So while I am in my forward cabin with my family enjoying the cruise, you'll be sitting in your aft.

Gary: I am not sure if this will answer your question, but I am ordering my gift basket from Shirley, at the "Perfect Gift" in Florida. You can also order stuff through Disney. Shirley will make up the basket and have it delivered to the ship. I don't know shirley's website but her phone number is 1-800-950-4559. She is supposed to be fabulous.

Rose - the lanyard and pin starter sets are a great idea; they were a huge hit for our kids at WDW when they were younger... but a word of warning:
If your kids take to it, and latch onto a pin theme they like, be prepared to spend approx. $6,870.00 on pins. There is a reason why Disney gives away free pins.. to suck you in and get you collecting!!
It's fun to do, but more so at WDW than on the ships, in my ever-so-humble opinion. Epcot is probably the best pin trading place. They don't make as big a deal of it on the ships... still fun though!

As for your other question, regarding must-haves for kid's gift baskets?

May I suggest Ritalin and leashes.

WEll, I talked to Shirley from the Perfect Gift today and she talked me out of the lanyard and starter pins. She liked the idea but didn't think I should spend a lot of money.

Her personality reminded me of my relatives in New Jersey.... except for the fact that I liked her. She has got to be one of the nicest people. Within 2 minutes of talking to her she gave me her cell phone number and her home phone number. I was gonna ask for her bank account number and left kidney but I was afraid she might actually give it to me. Anyways, the baskets are ordered and the kids should be happy....muzzles and all.


Beano, I noticed on the other thread that you are making a "Cruise Video" and you are the director. Well, in this video, I want to be the leading actress (I am quite the drama queen) and I have two demands.

1. I want more money. I am not getting paid enough for this film

2. Although hubby is a wonderful leading man, I would like to request Tom Cruise or Harrison Ford for the love scenes....(John, my hubby, I am an actress and this is my job...nothing more).

So, I hope you will be providing me these things as the "Cruise Video" starts shooting or you will be talking to my lawyer.

UHHH OHHHHH...if you all thought that we weren't gonna get to go..guess what??!!

I called AAA and our docs had been there...so I went and picked them up this afternoon!! They even gave us a cute 'lil WDW beach-like bag!! I tried to get free autograph books..but that didn't work..worth a try though!!

So...be afraid..be very afraid..the Swan's are officially going to WDW and doing the Wonder Cruise on Oct 12th!!

I love deck 2....so convenient to get to the atrium, dinners, clubs.....


Rose- ummmm, sorry sweetie.....Renee and I are the dynamic duo...we are the leading ladies of Beano's videos, we make the most money, and we get our own dressing room....(but we will compromise and you can have Tom Cruise....I'd rather keep my tarzanman and I am sure Renee would rather keep her Beano any day) ......especially since Beano's video's are more like Reality TV!! Full of drinking, smart butt humor, and "adult content")
