Attending F! on a Grad Night - why not?

Hi, I saw on the Grad Nightmare thread that a poster was saying they have plans to see F! on a grad night and a couple of people said they should try and change their plans and attend WOC instead. I purposely made reservations for BB F! package on a grad night thinking spending time on dinner and then having reserved seating for F! would keep me out of the grad night crowd. Can someone explain to me why it might be a better idea to attend WOC on a grad night instead of F!? TIA!

I think whoever said that was saying choose WOC over the new night parade and DL fireworks more than F! The Grads get their own WOC so that would most likely be their last choice if they want to see a night show. But I would think you would be great for F! - especially since you have a reserved area.

I've been to lots of Grad Nights and have never had an issue - every year there are horror posts (and obviously I wasn't there so maybe I would have been just as upset) but there are also horror posts about regular adults too. Different people are in the parks every day for different reasons and I think you would drive yourself crazy worrying about other people's bad experiences.

I hope you have a great trip!

I do not agree with that sentiment as it makes no sense to me. Seeing Fantasmic on a grad night is the best use of time IMO as any extra crowds at the park will not impact one's ability to see this show. Same thing for WOC and, to some degree, the fireworks, parades, MMM, and Aladdin.

+1
We plan on doing this exact thing for F! on Tues. this week. Great use of time on a Grad Nite. We also did WOC on another Grad Nite this past Sat. Shows are not impacted much at all.

I think some of the advice might be based on how things were before F! went to the FP system. The feeling was that because the grad's got a special showing of WoC during their Grad Night, they would be more likely to be over in DL watching fireworks or F!, so the crowds would be bigger than "normal". However, now that F! is a FP system (which it wasn't in use last year when the Grad Nites happened), I think it makes less of an issue (also, as mentioned, the grads are probably more likely to try and see fireworks and PtN now). I think it's even less of an issue if you have one of the dining packages. I don't think very many of the grads are going to spring for the cost (and time) it takes to have a TS meal, so my guess is that the dining packages areas are going to be the least impacted by Grad Nite.

I think what we were trying to communicate is that WOC and F! are a good choice for grad nights particularly with dining packages. However watching fireworks and PTN is definitely not recommended on grad nights because the grads are wanting to see them too. If fireworks and PTN are your priority try for a non grad night if possible. The OP on the other thread was asking about F! and fireworks, and I recommended a non grad night. My response was mostly addressing the fireworks portion and assuming they would want to watch from Main St. Now that I'm thinking about it they may not be planning to watch from MS but from where they're watching F!. In this case don't worry about it. But if you want to watch from MS try for a non grad night. BTW after trying to watch the fireworks from IASW (disappointing because the projections did not work) and
Fantasyland (disappointing because there is no sound or projections), I would really shoot for watching from MS. So that is where I was coming from. I did not watch fireworks from the riverfront area so can't speak to that specifically.

As far as fireworks and the new parade, those are new and for this summer they are going to be crowded on grad nights and non-grad nights. I can't see why one would choose those on a non grad night although I understand the grads can impact that more than WOC or F! because of FP. Still, you have to get there early to get a spot for fireworks and parades either way.
