Attendance Down, Revenue Up

Anyway, for Toy Story Land....isn't TSMM still going to be the centerpiece of that area? Toy Story Land is not going to just be the slinky coaster and alien spinner. Of course we would like to see them add more, and we generally like to only focus on "what's coming" as opposed to what's already there. However, TSMM should be included when talking about Toy Story Land but usually gets left out. I agree, concept art so far on the coaster may be unimpressive, but I need to see more before passing final judgement.
Yes that and the slinky dog coaster are the main attractions:

I get that, its still a big separation from the rest at this point, and a large part of the reason many families even go.

Oh boy...we know they have a character edge...

But I can't justify 2016 pricing and give credit to empty suit Iger for 80 year old characters and 15 year old fireworks...

They are literally trying to drain the brand and that is so dangerous longterm. I'm in it for the longterm.

I remember when TSMM came out when I was in high school I thought it was SO groundbreaking and awesome. A theme park ride that you have the ability to manipulate and interact with in a 4d way? That was pretty exciting. I think it's easy to write it off now just because VR is growing, but back then...

Men in black: alien attack...2000

Midway mania: 2008

I'm sorry that went over my head but if I had to guess it would have to do with something about insiders or with how imagineers are bad and can do nothing on budget.

Ah...the land of cheese strikes again.

Sarcasm!!! And I'm "refraining"

Theming...

AK has a great theme and MK is a good collection of themes. DHS? The theme might be expensive IP's we bought. Epcot? I can't quantify a theme there.

It's a bit more than an "edge" in characters but yes that is a big plus for many visitors. Especially with the training involved and many of the themed areas they meet.

How about night shows? Maybe a small edge, or massive?

Same with live shows.

I'm not saying rides are not important, I would say they are the most important. I want more more more than even what's coming if they will do it. But at WDW I think the weight/% is much smaller because of these other additions.

Likewise other parks rely almost entirely on rides.

And the cost of the parks I can't tell anybody what they should be willing to pay-Including US and the other theme parks.

Long term? Hmm will see where this goes I guess.

Edit: Star Wars Fireworks are less than a year old, Kylo/A&E/Big Hero, Merida and many more are new characters.

But many/most non Disney Parks would love a 15 year old "Illuminations and Wishes and Fantasmic don't you think?

I guess they could just close at 6 like the others, and like AK did.

DHS is in between themes.

Yea I wasn't talking about an individual park across the board, if this was response to that.

I meant the "additional" attractions other than rides. Like live shows (Fantasmic/Frozen/FOTLK/ETWB/NEMO etc), and night shows/parades/fireworks etc. Also M&G are too many to count-they add theming to countless visitors. They can add a lot of theme to a park.

Another example is IOA. Is that HP or Marvel or Jurassic Park or Kong etc.

As mentioned, not themes across an entire park, although AK is pretty steady. But like US/IOA it doesn't always work. I would say the theming in DHS is obviously on the way, and EPCOT WS may have some of the best themed countries ever created.

It was really more "additional" themes obtained from non ride attractions I was getting at, diminishing the sole reliance on rides alone.

You only need to read the countless threads on families make or break the vacation on meeting A&E, as only one example.

You know, seeing that picture of the coaster is really sad. Where's the Toy Box? Where's the theming?
Apparently the "theming" comes in the form of the meet and greet with Woody after you get off the ride. And when you see 50 Stormtroopers walk down Hollywood Boulevard. All of that justifies asphalt jungles like Dinoland in AK and the Slinky Coaster that we will be blessed with.

That is all that has been revealed. Keep the enlarged TSMM. Add a Barnstormer styled coaster and a church carnival quality spinning alien ride and there you have it.

There should be a shopping element and a meet and greet is likely as well. Most are unsure if there will be any dining element whether it just be snacks or quick service.

How could I forget about the meet and greets and shopping...also known as "THEMING". And Pizza Planet will come back on line. So there's that to look forward to. The separation from Busch Gardens and Universal grows ever wider.

Pizza planet is not supposed to return as pizza planet. It's supposed to be a muppets quick service since that is in the new muppets courtyard.

Well shopping may be pushing it (hadn't thought of that one), but have you been to the Star Wars Launch Bay? No theming there? Disney Springs?

How about Enchanted Tales with Belle? Any theme at all to that?

A&E is first on many guests list, esp at midnight 60 days. Pretty sure that's a theme experience to them. Tink? Talking Mickey? Merida?

Live shows? Night shows?

Yes the gap is extremely wide in all of those areas.
