My daughter had these ice breaker frost mints in her purse. She offers me one, I put it in my mouth and within a minute, I starting feeling strange. I manage to swallow the mint and my mouth and throat and even my jaws and cheeks feel like I have the worst case of brain freeze ever. It hurt to take a breath. I tried to drink some water and it made the sensation worse. I'm sitting here three hours later and I still ache in my throat and in my jaws.
I look at the package and one of the first ingredients is xylitol, which is supposed to give it a pleasant, cooling effect. Nothing pleasant today. It also says in fine print that this product may cause uncomfortable sensation because of the cooling. Uncomfortable? I felt like I swallowed dry ice.

Wow! Are you sure you didn't have a serious allergic reaction? That's what it sounds like. Better stay away from that stuff!

Pretty scary. I'm allergic to shellfish and sunflower so I know the feeling of that, and would be thinking the same thing.

If you google "Ice Breakers Frost pain" you will see other people who have had the same problem.

I've had them and didn't have a reaction like that! Be careful...

We threw them out. There was definitely a reaction. I don't have any food allergies so this was a new thing for me. Scary.

Those things are nasty!!! :scared1: I had a very similar reaction as well. The fact that water made it WORSE was the scariest. I completely understand. Threw mine out too.

I had a similar reaction, but not as severe. I won't eat them again.
