Attack of the Lakeshore Lodge

Don't get too hopeful that D23 will reveal a lot about LSL. The D23 expos I've been to have been all about parks, movies, history of the Disney company. I don't remember any mentions of hotels. You can find "event recaps" here: https://d23.com/events/recaps/.

Both Riviera and Reflections were announced at Anaheim D23's (2017/2019). Though different guy running the show these days.

Just so everyone is clear, these are the DVC tower rooms. The rest is cash. Almost assuredly they'll have *at least* two room views subtypes. Can't imagine they'd be generous enough these days to not.

Edit- I relayed the incorrect information and Charles below captured the whole DVC wing side.

Yep. You have to be on a reservation at FW to be allowed in.
Interesting. I'd love to know the logistics. So, a CM boards the boat coming from MK and scans magic bands? And if you don't have a campsite reservations, what do they do - insist you stay seated on the boat and not get off? Did they have someone stationed on the walking path from WL years ago, blocking people from walking in?

When booking dinner for Hoop de Doo on July 4th or Halloween, does the website make you insert your campsite reservation confirmation before booking the ADR? Same with when booking a trail ride or carriage ride online - does it make you put your campsite reservation confirmation in the online portal?

I honestly didn't think the online portal was set up for this. Anytime I've booked dinner or experiences at the fort, there is absolutely nothing about whether or not you are staying there. You're saying they change the online booking portal for certain times of year?

Difference being that was the big D23 events. The one this August is "Destination D23" in Orlando, which doesn't usually have very many big announcements.

I do hope we get more details, though! The only reason they wouldn't is if they're trying to keep sales going at the Poly tower and don't want people waiting / holding off for LL.

One year they did stop us and check magic bands for reservations as we walked to the Magic Kingdom from BLT on New Years Eve .
It could happen for the Fort on Halloween but seems like it would be difficult to enforce . But they should have some type of restriction for safety !

For Halloween time they have a CM set up before the queue for the boat at MK. if you dont have a reservation stay or food they would not let you past to get onto the boat.

I hope I’m wrong, and I hope we get lots of details. But I’m not counting on it. Of course in addition to theming and decor, we want to know whether LSL will still be a DVC - hotel hybrid, how many DVC villas and what sizes, etc., etc.!

And you’re getting this information from where?

I am not in the know on the planned split between DVC rooms and hotel rooms here, or even if there will be a hotel side at all.

But looking at the available photos so far, I see what appears to be some differences in the design and layout of rooms on either side of the lobby.

The side circled in yellow appears to have rooms of various sizes and layouts (DVC side?), while the side circled in blue appears to have rooms that are more uniformed in nature (hotel side?).
Also, a split at the lobby makes the most sense, like they have done at the Boardwalk and Wilderness Lodge.
This would also give both sides some rooms overlooking the feature pool.
And for those of us in DVC that are worried about the possibility of getting a "dumpster" view of the backside of Pioneer Hall, this split would have only hotel side rooms with that view.

Again, this is just speculation with what little information we have at this time.

As above, they check at the boat dock and bus stop before you board. If you’re not staying there, you’d need an ADR to board the boat. And once you disembark at FW, you’d only be allowed as far as the Settlement. Guests arriving by car are turned away if they’re not staying there.

Yes, they’ve done this before, to keep the campgrounds from being overwhelmed by visitors at special times like Halloween.

ETA - I didn’t have time for an extensive search, but this from 2021 is an example of the restrictions.

Ah, okay, That’s what I thought. Reservations at Hoop De Doo and the stable rides / carriage rides are not limited to those with campsite reservations at those time of year then.

Which means they won’t be barring Lakeshore Lodge guests if they have a valid reservation for dining or an experience at the fort.

It will be interesting to see how they handle it. IMHO, Disney has created its own "can of worms" by putting LL where they did. And I think this will go both ways. They won't be able to keep the campers out of LL for dining/gift shops, etc and it could end up being just as busy if not busier than the Poly.

Same thing for the Fort on special event times. I mean there's a reason that if you look at CFW sales, most of the fixed week sales are for Halloween...

I'll also be interested to see what is in the LL building facing the back of Pioneer Hall. I can't imagine that anyone would want that as their balcony view. Maybe that area is a Community Hall or something???

Could be wrong, but I’d be willing to bet the powers that be involved with the design and planning of this project have likely paid little to no attention to operational details like Fort operations around special holidays and the like. The GM or some poor 20/30 something duty manager will be charged with figuring it all out. In 2027. :-)

Oh yea, I’m siding on its somewhat less likely myself. Those DVC announcements go over like a lead balloon, I was there for the Reflections one. The current head seems more adept at pruning the things he knows won’t play well to the audience and packaging them in blog posts after the fact.

We already have most of those above details. I ironically had just re-asked your question and forgot it was already answered.

Cash room breakdown (557 total):

Two queens: 481
Single king: 70
Two bedroom: 4
Vice Presidential Suite: 1
Presidential Suite: 1

DVC room breakdown (399 total):

Pod: 24
Studio dedicated: 95
Studio lockoff: 91
1BR : 91
1BR dedicated: 51
2BR: 38
Grand Villa: 9

The resort being hybrid was already confirmed. Old room mock ups were published by Disney, the decor strikes me as the most likely to be changed.

From what I keep seeing, the plans haven’t changed at all from the originals, so I also think it’s going to be mixed. It’s too big to be 100% DVC these days.
