ATT U-verse logic confuses me

I have 6 months left on my contract.
My bill mysteriously went up 50 cents this month.
I went on chat with ATT U-verse.
They say everyone's rate went up.
Forget that I have a contracted rate locked in for 6 months.
They tell me can't lower the rate hike, even though I have a contracted rate.
But they offer a one time $20 credit to my bill.
Okay.......I asked for $3 .......and they can't give me that, but they can give me $20.

on a related note - how do you like U-verse? I'm just now seeing it pop up as an option in my area!
 
Service is just fine. I'll be honest, I think every neighbor has a different provider, and the internet speed seems to be the same.

We have had U-verse for serveral years and I love it. 2 years ago I needed to par down expenses and dropped U-verse and went with a special comcast was having. I was never so glad to leave comcast when my contract was up and go back to U-verse.
 

It was probably a governmental fee increase. None the less, they probably included a notice on the bill that you could agree to the new charge or cancel your contract. They'd rather pay you the $20 to agree to the new fee than allow you to cancel.
