Since I've been hearing such diverse reports about the POR I thought it would be a good idea to poll people on the building they've stayed at.

Where did you stay at the POR? What kind of shape was your room in? How was the location? What do you think were the pros and cons of this location? Anything else you want to add would be GREAT too!

Thanks so much. I thought this might help people looking for info on what building to suggest.

April 2001, 2 nights weekend after Easter. Stayed in Acadian House room 8028. It was a corner room, two windows, first floor and faced the parking lot. It was very close to the North bus stop. That was nice, as it was a walk to get to food/check in area. The pool in the mag section was cold, so I found a pool closer to our room in AB section, nice and not as crowded as main pool. Pros for the room was the proxmity to the car for loading/unloading suitcases, close to bus stop and quiet location. Cons would be distance to front building. I remember our room was clean, but during our stay at CBR this past April the room had been rehabed and everything seemed a little nicer. Does anyone know if the POR have the privacy curtain near the sinks, storage in a bench and under the sinks like at the CBR? The storage under the sink was perfect for our groceries.;)

I've stayed in Oak Manor and twice in AB 18. I like both sides, but prefer the AB section. The buildings are only two stories and smaller than the mansions, and with all of the trees it is obviously much shadier.

Rooms are generally clean, although it seems to me they could do with a very thorough cleaning, since the corners and behind the beds are pretty dusty.

All in all, I love POR.

I've stayed in Parterre Place and the bayou section (buildings 14, 15, 16 and 26). We prefer the bayou section. We've never had a bad room. In the beginning we liked 14 and 15 the best but after our stay at 26, we fell in love with this building and its location. I will say that this summer our room was mostly clean, but not as clean as in the past. However, the bathroom and bedding was clean which is most important!

Thanks for the input everyone, the info is great!!

Has anyone stayed in building AB 38? I was thinking of requesting it, it looks fairly close to everything but not too close. Any opinions?

Thanks :)

We stayed in Magnolia Bend, bldg. 85, on the second floor, room 8746. It was a nice room, but could have used a thorough cleaning. No privacy curtain like CBR has. We mostly used the main bus stop, at the front of the resort. There was a stop behind the bldg.(east depot) But it was pretty crowded.
Our first trip down, Oct.'99, we stayed in AB. Bldg. 35, room3528. we used the west depot bus. It was a 5 minute walk to the bus and maybe an 8 minute walk to the food court from that bldg. Bldg. 38 looked like a pretty good choice to me. I didn't know about any of these boards back then so I just took what they gave me!! Live and learn. If I were to do it again, I think I would do AB again. More peaceful and quite nice to walk around in. But my dd really wants to do someplace different next summer, so we're off to CBR. Hope we like it as much as POR!!

We have stayed in Alligator Bayou #28 (not really close to bus or main bldg, but ok), Alligator Bayou # 38 (very close to north depot and not too far from the main bldg.), Acadian House (very close to the north depot and pretty close to the main bldg.), and Parterre Place (a short walk to the main bldg where you can use the south depot bus stop). Parterre Place has GREAT views of the river. If I could choose any bldgs it would be either Magnolia Terrace (very close to the east depot, Old Man Island, and the main bldg.) or Alligator Bayou #14 (very close to main bldg and south depot).
