ATT buying T-Mobile

This is the first I'm hearing of this, and it makes me a tad nervous. I've been a happy T-Mobile customer for many years now, and I'm concerned about the changes that will be made. I have an older plan also (Fave 5), and I'm worried that AT&T will eliminate this plan when the takeover is complete. Ugh. I don't want my cell phone bill to skyrocket.

If they are going to honor the terms of your contract, they don't have to let you out. We'll just have to see if they are going to grandfather existing contracted customers in or not.
If they change terms, then they do have to let you out.
It appears to me this will be a step down in customer service for T-Mobile customers, but a huge step up in the actual phone network.

We've actually found the opposite to be true. We were getting really crappy customer service from T-Mobile (which is why we switched to AT&T), and we couldn't possibly be happier with AT&T so far! The only complaint we had was the rude, pushy sales person we had at the store, but we went to an "authorized dealer" instead of going to an actual AT&T store, so we figured something like that would happen (we did let AT&T know about it afterwards, though).

But it most certainly IS a HUGE step up in the actual performance of the hardware (we switched from Windows Mobile phones to iPhones) and in the performance of the network. I was always under the impression that AT&T and T-Mobile used the same network, but somehow everything is running so much smoother with AT&T!! We're 100% happy with our switch!

I have T-Mobile and this is the first I have heard of this. I've had them for years and years; they are the only cell provider I have ever had. I hope this does not change anything because I am on what they call a "grandfather" plan; a plan that is no longer offered and I do not wish to pay more money or have less minutes (I have unlimited). I guess time will tell...

Sounds to me like AT&T customers are getting the better end of this deal, and T-Mobile customers are just getting a raw deal.
