Has anyone done this excursion on St. Thomas? If so, what did you think?

We did this tour in Hawaii with the same company. (Atlantis)
Everyone seemed happy at the end. It was really neat being in a submarine. We saw a baraccuda, sharks, sea turtles and alot of beautifully colored fish. I've read a past thread about the one in St. Thomas that had alot of good reviews. I have this booked for my husband and 7 yr old son.

My DS9 and I did the Atlantis submarine excursion in St. Thomas earlier this month and I was very impressed. We saw sharks, turtles, lots of beautiful fish and a lobster. The guide was very good at pointing out specific fish and letting you know which side of the sub to find them. We would highly reccommend this excursion and hopefully will be able to do it again on next year's cruise!

we did this in Cozumel...if I would do this on the Western...I'd suggest doing it when in Grand Caymen. Since you need to tender at GC...you can get off the ship sooner.
it's one that we are glad we did...prob would not repeat. We saw a lot of colorful fish and was a great experience. I, we agreed...it's prob something to do once.

I have a terrible problem with ear pain when I fly. Has anyone experienced a problem in the submarine?

Zandy- can't answer whether or not ear pain happens ina sub, but I can get ear pain on a plane too. My Dr. always gives me clarinex and a nose spray to start using a few days before I travel because of my allergies and my sinuses- this helps tremendously. Do you have porblems with your sinuses?

Sometimes I get headaches when the barometric pressure changes, but that's really the only problem I have besides the air pressure in a plane.

OUr fellow cruisers just did it on the 2/7 cruise in St. Thomas. They said it was ok - did not see any big fish, water was cloudy. There 7 yr old was expecting big sharks etc... they did see small 2 feeters...they wouldn't do it again, but were glad they did.

Zandy,
I am like you in that I don't experience ear problems except on planes. I had one very bad experience flying to Bermuda, when my ear didn't pop for 6 hours and I was literally in tears in my hotel room with the pain. (I tried everything to help to no avail) When preparing for our first trip to WDW, I read on the boards that a low dose of decongestant can prevent problems. So about an hour before we boarded, my children and I took a dose of chewable children's sinus medicine, and it did the trick-no problems. (It did make them sleepy, which isn't a bad thing on long flight). I also brought a saline nasal drip stuff I had read will help clear sinuses if you do have problems, but didn't have to use it. I will always take this precaution for future travel.

DH and I did this on our first Disney Magic cruise (Eastern) and while we enjoyed it, I doubt we would do it again as we thought it was rather expensive. If I remember correctly, it was $75 each. I think the submarine holds 48 passengers plus the crew, with 24 seats on each side and every 2 people share a port hole to look out of. We saw several colorful fish, but my photos did not turn out the greatest even though I had 400 speed film and turned the flash off as they suggested. The photos all still had a dark blue color to them. It was a fun experience though.

Ok this was my first choice of excursoins for St. Thomas but now i'm second guessing myself. Any suggestions??? I'm leaning now towards St. John Eco Hike but worried it will be too much for a ds six year old. Anyone done the hike with kids????
