Just got back from a sneak preview of Atlantis and it is Awesome!!!! I loved it! Great Animation!! Great Plot!! Good Characters!! THIS is the animated movie of the summer. Everyone left the theater raving about how good this movie is. Its got a lot of adventure, and it shows how capable Disney is of doing this style of animation. There are several moments where you just are amazed at what they have pulled off...you get caught up in the moment...See this movie...take a short bathroom break..then see it again!!!

The Atlantis review would impress me if Ebert hadn't given Tomb Raider 3 stars.

If this was any other board, there'd be tons of off-color humor there. :bounce: :bounce:

:D I just saw it this afternoon with my 4 and 12 year old and everyone was entranced the whole movie. The visual appeal is immense... you will get swept away by the animation which is unlike any Disney film before it. I also found the variety of character voices enjoyable to listen to. Even if you don't have children, go see this one. Adults will enjoy it as an action film that is visually amazing.

I saw the 3 pm show at a theater here in Orlando. There are 6 other cinemas in this part of town showing Atlantis, this one has it in two rooms. One show each hour just about. I was in the large room and it was about 3/4 full. There were senior citizens, college kids, middle schoolers, mothers with small children, and a 7 year old girl's birthday party. I was surprised since some have been saying "Disney's trying to target teenage boys and it's going to backfire" (parphrasing, not a direct quote...) The kids enjoyed it, the adults enjoyed it. Everyone seemed pleased, and more people stayed to watch the credits after this one than at any other Disney movie I've been to. (usually I'm the only one). Well done. Three Cheers! Hip-hip, Hooray! Hip-hip, Hooray! Hip-hip, Hooray! Tomorrow I'm going to see 'John Henry' at the FL Film Fest.

Just got back tonight from seeing Atlantis and we loved it. It is totally different from any other Disney animated flick in my opinion. More adventure, thrills, the scenery was totally awesome. I really enjoyed it and so did my 4 year old daughter. Yes, it can be a bit "loud" and a little "scary" because of the close-ups but all in all, it was GREAT! Kudos!

Critic reviews aside, the proof will be in the public's opinion. Based on the impressions I've read here I'm very optimistic about the prospects of this film. Thanks to everyone for sharing their experiences with us. I'm so much looking forward to seeing this film for myself.

After careful consideration, I have decided that I don't have enough time to see John Henry. This makes me sad, but oh well. I'll see it eventually.

We got to see this movie on June 7th in NYC and we loved it. We couldn't wait to go see it again yesterday on it's opening day here. I can tell that I really like a movie when I can really enjoy seeing it a second time. I'm probably going to see it again later this week with some other people. This is a great movie.

I am really excited. It's a very good indication when most critics AND a critical audience, like the members oif the DIS and RADP, submit so many positive reviews.
I can't wait to see this weekend's boz office numbers.
At this time I am not too worried about Tomb Raider. Wing Commander was a much bigger gaming success, and that move was truly terrible and didn't make much money, and I doubt that Tomb Raider would be much different... or at least hope.

I can't wait to see it!! After hearing all this great reviews, we can't wait to go this afternoon with my 2 and 4 yr old kids!! I'll post back later!!

Just back and it was wonderful. Superb visuals, powerful sound, great story, and a plot twist that I didn't see coming. As good as I had hope, and better than I was prepared for. I hope it hits a home run.

Natalie (3.5yrs) was rivetted.

Since this was a 12:05 showing, the crowd was fairly homogeneous. Families with kids under 12 or so. Not too many teenagers. I'm sure crowds will be mixed elsewhere.

24 screens at the theater we went to. It is showing every 40 minutes or so throughout the day. The two "big" theaters had Tomb and Atlantis. The 12:05 show was in one of the medium sized theaters, the 12:45 was in the big one. Stuck my head into Tomb Raider as we were leaving, not very many people in there. But, it was a 1:25 show, still very early in the day.

Just got back from seeing ATLANTIS, and *had* to offer my two cents worth. The movie is marvelous! I saw Shrek, loved it, too--but while Shrek just feels like a one-time fling to me, I would love to see ATLANTIS several times, just to savor the visuals and the music.

Now, I just hope Disney makes enough money on the film to nudge the company brass to greenlight an ATLANTIS attraction at WDW. An E-ticket attraction based on the film would be outta sight!

We had the best luck last night. A double feature at a local drive-in theater. They were playing Atlantis and Pearl Harbor. The kids (and I) loved Atlantis, then the kids fell asleep and my wife and I got to enjoy Pearl Harbor. We enjoyed both films very much.

Yay! This is probably the first Disney film that I truly loved in a long time ("Toy Story 2" is considered a long time ago for me). I got the opportunity to see it in NYC a week before with a digital presentation (pure bliss).

The movie trailers make it seems like it's "all-action-all-the-time", but the movie at some points do have a lot of lighthearted moments. Still, it does have some NICE scenes like the...oh...I don't want to spoil it for you, you will have to see it for yourself. Voice talent was great, plot was O.K. and the animation felt smooth, yet unusual since its based on the features of a comic book artist.

Let me tell you this, Atlantis is a WHOLE lot better than "Sheik", "Sherrif", "Shrek" (whatever!:p ) in my book.

I bless the DISer that uttered those oh-so-true words (forgot who it was, I'll give you credit!):

"Disney has class, Dreamworks has gas."

"Disney has class, Dreamworks has gas."

ok....I'll bite since I'm the current "trouble maker".

Disney has class alright. It has all of it's remaining animators taking accounting class.....the one who can cut their individual budget the most is valedectorian.

How's that?

I'm sure Dreamworks has gas....their movie keeps trucking right along.

Just got back from seeing Atlantis. I thought it was great. Very well done. Disney made a movie that they have been capable of doing and to me seems that they haven't always put forth the effort to do. This movie has class and talent behind it. I can't stand an animation movie cheaply done. Atlantis has great animation. The plot is good, exciting, and interesting. The scenes were scary, beautiful, and detailed. The sounds effects fit well and were detailed as well. Very well done Disney!!!

I saw Shrek...loved it too. Can't compare the two. They are too different.

Saw the movie, Atlantis The Lost Continent, last evening. My wife and I were very impressed! Very good story line, great animation and Michael J. Fox was very believeable. I believe it will do very well at the box office however, time will tell that. Hope every Disney fan goes to this one and we can at least cut into Katzenberg's happiness!

Tomb Raider took Number 1 but Atlantis took Number 2 pushing back Shrek (Yea  ). My daughter (16) saw both this weekend. Results, both good movies but would see Atlantis again not Tomb Raider. Atlantis has a much better story line. Her review, no plot to Tomb Raider just good action sequences; but great plot to Atlantis.

Still waiting on her review of Shrek. She hasn't seen it yet and seems to be in no hurry. Oh well.

Next weekend is my turn to see them.
