I just booked our "one night stay" at the Comfort Suites Paradise Island for our Black Friday cruise leaving Galveston in November. We've never been to Atlantis so we wanted to check it out this trip. It looks like even with taxes and such we'll be saving over $250 by going this route.

Anyone have any tips or tricks going about it this way? Anyone have any suggestions on getting a taxi/van? Are they readily available at the port? Anyone else on this particular cruise doing this and want to travel there together? We have 3 adults and 1 two year old in our party.

We did roughly the same thing on our cruise out of Galveston in 2013. Back then, we were able to book the beach tower for something like $100 for a night. Seems pricier now, and you have to do comfort inn. Coincidentally, we’re booked on the same cruise as you and debating doing the same...

We have also done blue lagoon and can’t decide which we should do this time.

My one piece of advice (sounds like you’re leaning this way already) is to take a taxi and not a water taxi. It’s a long walk from the water taxi pier to Atlantis. We took the water taxi there last time, and a van on the way back, which was much easier.

No problem getting a taxi the return way, but I can’t speak of the trip there. I assume it’s no big deal. I’ll post back here if we make any kind of decision...

Where’d you book the night? Did they offer cancellation with no penalty?

I booked straight on the hotel website. I was able to get it a little cheaper bc we are able to use the government/military rate. Because I booked via hotel website, I can cancel up till Nov 15.

the park doesn't opne until 9am and some slides not til 10am. What time do you have to be back on the ship. I did it once and we had a 4pm on board time so it was great. the next time it was a 2pm. so we skipped Atlantis.
For sure taxi. super easy. they will drop you off right at Atlantis. I've booked at Comfort Suites before. It's a breeze. Never even went to our room cause it's not ready til 3pm and we have to be on the ship by 4pm.

What about the aquariums??? If we arrived before 9 would we be able to walk the property and look through the aquariums?
