Does anyone actually go there? What is it like?

During my stays at the Boardwalk Inn the only time I have seen anyone go there was for the Home Depot College Football Awards show in December 2010 and 2011. However other then that I have not seen anyone actually go inside there on a regular night or seen a line up to get in.

Our wedding reception was at ADH a few years ago so it definately hold a place in my heart. It is basically a large dance hall - art deco style. Unfortunately, it does not get a very large gathering - but it is nice place to go and do some dancing and have a drink. I will post a few pictures so you can see what the inside looks like. These were from my wedding so it might look different when you go there but the basic design is the same.

They have a nice balcony upstairs that looks out over the dancefloor.

It is free to get in so you should definately check it out.

I have been there a few times for dancing and it is fun enough, but there has never really been a crowd which sort of cuts down on the party vibe.

We used to go to the dance clubs at Pleasure Island all the time and this is basically the same idea, but free...and harder to get to for most people (including locals), so not very many show up.

I think if you were going with a large group it would be fun, but just as a couple it usually is a little too deserted to really be fun, IMHO.

Here is a blog report about it that might give a more recent view of the place.

Seems like larger crowds than I remember in the past.

Last time we went was Nov. It was more crowded than the last time which was a couple years ago. At my age 50+ I don't like all the music but they do mix it up with 70's80's90's and today's music and they take requests. It is a good place to go if you are staying at the boardwalk area. Otherwise it isn't easy to get back to your resort unless you take a cab. And no cover!
