Atlantic City

A friend and I are thinking of going to Atlantic City -- mostly to go to the beach rather than gambling. Can anybody recommend a decently priced hotel somewhat near the beach? I'm thinking less than $100 a night or close to that. Is it even possible to do a relaxing low-key beach vacation at AC? I've never been there.

head to Ocean City or Wildwood instead. They have much nicer beaches. BTW there will be lifeguard races on Friday in Atlantic City. They are alot of fun.

If you can do mid-week or a Sunday night, you could stay at Tropicana or Showboat which are right on the Ocean for probably $99 a night...otherwise the weekend rates at the hotels are pretty expensive. There is a Marriott on/near the boardwalk too. I wouldn't venture too far off the beat and path, even the Sheraton would be a good choice since it's near the shopping and a few blocks walk to the beach.

If you are going for the beach and not for the Casinos I would head to Cape May, Wildwood or Wildwood Crest for the beaches. There are others as well that are much nicer beaches. Long Beach Island, Ocean City etc.

Thanks for some of the other ideas! I'll look those up. The only reason I had settled on AC was because when I did some preliminary hotel searches, those came up as being the least expensive. I hadn't really started looking in earnest to narrow it down.

We will be going from a Sunday night through a few weeknights, so it looks like we'll get some lower prices. Hopefully Priceline can help in that aspect as well.

Try ballys from their official website. In the past I have got Bally's for as low as 45$

I forgot about Cape May. It's very nice for an adult only trip.
