Atlanta Traffic

We're contemplating making a last minute trip to WDW. Usually when we drive we time it so we go through Atlanta after 9 p.m. We'll probably get a later start this trip so will probably hit it during the day. What time would the traffic be the lightest during the day?

I also, prefer to get through Atlanta after 9pm as the traffic is horrible.

We once left at a different time than our normal time and hit Atlanta by 3pm. We managed to get through the city and only had a slowdown on I-75 S past the bypass for about 10 minutes.

So I would say get through there no earlier than 1:00pm or no later than 3 - 3:15pm or else you will crawl through the city.

Also the bypass is not a good idea at any time. The trucks have to take the bypass and it is congested most of the day.

It's Atlanta. We don't have a "light traffic" time.

That said I would avoid rush hour which starts around 7 and goes until 9:30 AM and again from 4 PM to probably close to 7 PM. (Yes it's a nightmare here LOL!)

READ the signs. If the big flashing lights warn you of problems on 75-85 take the connector REGARDLESS of the "congestion" (Some movement is better then NO movement!)

Thanks everyone. That's kinda what I figured. The one time we did go through Atlanta during the day it was around 3 pm and traffic was managable. Didn't know if that was a just a fluke or if it should be something to shoot for.

I see Atlanta traffic hasn't improved.
