We were in Hilton Head last week, lovely time, great weather. But the drive back home we had a 2 hour delay through Atlanta I think - starting south or Atlanta around 4:00. Got to Marietta just north of ATL at 6:00. Others I know talked of almost 3 hour delays (last Fri, Sat and Sun - I don't know anyone going through yesterday or today but I'm curious).

Craziness. What a horrible place to live (I lived there 20 years ago and traffic was bad then but nothing like this!).

So never ever again will I drive through Atlanta over a spring break weekend. I'll fly or go somewhere else.

Your problem was NOT spring break (by the way most of our schools have not even had spring break yet) Your problem was more likely your timing. 4 PM to 6PM is PRIME rush hour.

This is Atlanta, we just work around the traffic. But it's not a horrible place to live.

It was Sat - no rush hour workers at all. I actually think we missed the worst of it b/c people going through around 2:00 had it worse than us.

Sunday was just as bad. Pretty sure all of Florida was emptying out since many many school districts did have spring break last week (and many this week as well).

BTW I used to live in Marietta and work in Midtown at a hotel - never did I see that kind of traffic on the weekends.

I was driving around on the interstate both days and noticed nothing.... Not sure which way you came but I 285 seemed pretty open. If you went direct IMHO that's always a risk.
