Atlanta, have you made your milk & bread run?

We went out to Kroger today and some of the roads are still real icy, especially if the sun doesn't hit it. Kroger was wiped out...no milk, no eggs, no chicken, no beef. We drink a lot of milk here, so my dd was disappointed when I told her she could pick out some juice instead. We were planning on heading to Hilton Head the Friday after school let out, but now we're thinking we're going to have to change our plans. Gwinnett County has used all their built in snow days and now are going to have to decide where to pull from which I'm guessing will be tacked on at the end of the year.

Just had on Fox 5 Atlanta, they were in some smallish grocery store and while they were there the storw was getting a delivery of beer. The delivery guy was interviewed while he rolled in cases and I quote " Got to get the beer to the people who need it":rotfl2:
Yeah, that's exactly what we need--icy roads and beer :thumbsup2

Not.

But we are doing the happy dance at our house. :dance3: BOTH of our nurses made it to the house today! Our street is still almost a solid sheet of ice, but those men braved the ice and came out to help us with Christian. We haven't had a nurse since Sunday, so they were a welcome sight. I feel like the U.S. Cavalry just came over the horizon.:yay:

DHs 6am flight from ne Ohio was just cancelled. They now have him flying to NYC then to ATL, crazy! My fear is he'll be stuck in NYC all weekend. DD and I fly out at 3:30 and so far our flight is still good. Hope our hotel has some beer when we finally get there!

No school tomorrow. I wonder what their plan is for make up days because our county does not build them into the calender.

I'm wondering the same thing!

DH is a Cobb teacher. His last day on the school calendar is May 27. On June 2 we are planning to start our huge European Disney Adventure. We are doing DLP then a Disney cruise  .

I hope these stupid snow days don't mess up our vacation!!!

As a hurricane veteran , I understand "Got to get the beer to the people who need it . " He would be a hero here LOL.

My inlaws are on their 4th day of being stuck in the house. They live on 13 acres , their driveway is about 5 acres long and completely iced over. Thank goodness for a neighbor that has a four wheeler , he has been checking on them. Times like this I wish I they would move back to Louisiana.

No word yet about Coweta County for tomorrow. I'm thinking we will go, but Carroll, Fayette, Clayton, and others around us have already announced closures. Now Glen Burns (weather guy) says tomorrow will be the worst driving of the entire week! :scared1: I think we'll go and then take those 4 missed days and put the week of Memorial Day. But, I'm just a teacher, so I know nothing!! :confused3

My street is still a sheet of ice, we tried to get out today only to slip and slide and get stuck at the end of the driveway. I hope they will put some salt on the side roads even if the temp goes up this weekend the ice is so thick we still can't navigate the street. My DH's truck, what a time for it to be in the shop,;);) I am not opening my mouth.

North Coweta is the issue. Lots of ice on the side roads up there. Supposedly it's a sheet of ice in front of Canongate. The front drive of Newnan Crossing had a really big area of ice still this evening. So, I won't be surprised if Coweta stays closed tomorrow.

Same here, I have no idea when these days will be made up. I'm just hoping it doesn't take them until May to figure it out.

10 days off in a row including weekends/holiday. I could have been in Disney!!

I told DH the same thing yesterday! Our AP's expire next month, if I didn't have class tomorrow, we'd be out of here in a heartbeat. It's got to be warmer there right?

Otherwise, I'm down to my last gallon of milk, and two eggs. We really need to make a Costco run, but I'm not risking it until 316 is less icy. USPS came today, but no sign of UPS or the garbage trucks. I really hope things are back to normal next week.

I'm supposed to head up to UGA tomorrow... 316 is what I'm worried about the most.

You are correct. I just got the call. No school for the FIFTH day. Ughhh...now to worry about makeups!

I know! Should be interesting to see what they do. I saw that staff has to report at 9AM, though.

I'm worried about one of the vacation weeks. We have plans we can't change for Feb. vacation so if they take that, my kids are not going to be in school. I would hope with such a large portion of the state being affected, they will just let it go as long as we don't get any more.

No trash pick up this week :(, no school tomorrow. We did get mail.

And don't forget the kids don't have school on MONDAY either! MLK jr. day is Monday. Another 4 days of the kids at home! :scared1: I went out and cleared off our drive way because I HAVE to get out of the house tomorrow. All of us are going stir crazy.
