Atkins - Snacks?

Cheesecake, deviled eggs,sf jello.Smuckers natural peanut butter spread real thin across a slice of low carb bread.

Today I took whole green chiles (the El Paso kind in the little yellow cans), stuffed with cheese, dipped in egg, and fried. Pretty good, and satisfied a bit of my Mexican craving!

Oh, the possibilities are endless! But here are a few of my favs:
Induction/OWL:
BLTs (romaine lettuce leaves with crisp bacon, thin slice tomatoe, mayo -roll it up)
LC cheesecake

Really anything allowed during induction can be eaten as a snack also. :)

Not for induction:
Homemade whipped cream (heavy whipping cream w/vanilla extract and splenda) on strawberries sliced up

And lately I've been having yogurt. I've been reading about the benefits of yogurt (even though I never really liked yogurt before) and also how it's not really as many carbs as it says.

Romaine leaves with a tbsp or two of pimento cheese- roll it up
:)

Those are just a few. :)

I have found sugar free jello to be a life saver for me. It hits the spot when I'm looking for something light to eat in the afternoon or at night before bed.

I also eat SF Jello...it is great when I want that little something that is sweet! :) I also love Deviled Eggs, they are my favorite!! BLT's are good, I use Iceberg lettuce, crispy bacon, slice of Turkey and some mayo! Yummy! Ham and cheese rollups are another good snack!

The mini babybel cheeses (3/4 oz each) work well when I need that bit of protein to tide me over until lunch.

Sunflower seeds (takes forever to eat bag and only 2 carbs).

SF Jello (love any flavor that is red).

Atkins ice cream (after induction).

Pre cooked bacon.

I'm not much of a snacker, but hard boiled eggs, or celery with cream cheese are standbys for me. I eat a large breakfast at 7:30 AM, a moderate lunch at about 12:30 and a moderate dinner at 7:00 PM. If I stick to that schedule (and drink all of the water I should) I'm not hungry between meals.

Deviled eggs are hard-boiled eggs where the egg is peeled, cut in half, and the yolk is removed and mixed with various ingredients to create a spicy mousse-like mixture. The mixture is then piped back onto the egg white halves and sprinkled with paprika. Very popular at picnics and BBQs.

My favorite recipe is Miss Daisy's Deviled Eggs. Yum!

Highland Lass ...to add to the deviled egg answer...usually you add mayo and mustard with the hard boiled egg mixture and mix them all together and put back into the white part. I usually sprinkle paprika for color on top.It is really good. You should try it!!!

Thank you both

I showed my ignorance in asking that question but I know very little about food (except how to eat it in vast quantities!!!:D )

Before Atkins all I did was throw a frozen lasagne into the microwave , baked a potato and ta-ra dinner !!

Not now. I am having to learn how to cook. I can do it but I'm used to coming home and doing very little cookery wise.

Day 10 of Induction has now ended and I feel OK.

;)

I can hardly wait to hear your first report!!!!!

It may sound weird, but I eat cream cheese. Softened just a bit in the microwave, then add some DaVinci flavor if you want sweet or Hidden Valley Ranch powder if you want savory. Wacky, but good and fairly easy to measure and monitor quantity.

Prickles....don't ask how we got the name....dill pickle, dry on paper towel, softened cream cheese spread on slice of buddig beef, roll pickle up in beef/cream cheese. May need a couple layers of beef/cheese over pickle. Fridge a while, then slice up. YUM!! Pre-Atkins we would serve them w/ritz crackers. But just as good alone.
String cheese
Atkins bars (occasionally)
Cucumbers w/ranch
macadamia nuts
deviled eggs
pecans sauteed in butter, splenda, cinnamon
:p

Can you find low carb cheesecake in local stores or just online? If so, where? Thanks

I made this little snack the other day, to take somewhere as an appetizer.

Slice of processed ham (I used Plumrose)
Spread with cream cheese (the cheese spreads easier if you blot the ham with a paper towel first)
Place a green onion at the top of the ham slice, longways, and roll the ham up tightly around the green onion
Slice the long roll into little bit size rolls, and skewer with toothpicks to hold them together

The green onion gives it a nice little "kick"!

I haven't heard of these flavourings.......they may not be available in the UK.

What do they taste of ??
