I know I am wierd, but I don't like chocolate or sweets at all, my weakness is crunchy...(chips, salt etc) what do you use to satisfy those type of cravings on Atkins? And...before you say pork rinds...what do those actually taste like....something about eating pig skin seems kindof creepy! lol! thanks!

Cucumber slices with Blue Cheese Dressing
I don't do Pork Rinds!
Sunkist Almond Accents - Love the Parmigan Italian ones
Celery Sticks with Chive and Onion Cream Cheese
Pecans stirfried in butter and salt (allow to cool)
Celery Sticks with SF P.Butter
:D

Pork rinds don't really have much of a taste, if you get the unflavored ones. I do like them better either hot & spicy, or with sour cream, spinach dip, salsa...

Pepperoni chips are good. So are cheese "chips".

You'd be amazed just how many cravings you get rid of by low-carbing, though. Chips are all carbs... once you cut them out, you probably won't even crave them. :)

If it makes you feel any better, pork skins are not the skin at all. It's the layer of fat & tissue under the skin. The same stuff as the white part of bacon, in fact:D

I never used to like pork rinds, til I got desperate enough to try them again - the flavored ones - with either salsa & sour cream, or with veggie cream cheese! Now I love 'em!!

Atkins has chips that you can buy and the BBQ ones aren't bad. I haven't tried the other flavors. Some people have trouble using these kinds of products, it stops thier weight loss, but if you just had some now and then for a special treat you would probably be ok.

Oh, I hadn't thought of dipping the pork rinds in something to disguise them! I can try that too!;)

I am eating pork rinds as I type! Dipped in a cream cheese/green olive dip, yum!!! That's my lunch today.

Is it a dip you made from scratch, or one you bought? Do you have a recipe for the dip? Thanks!:D

I make it myself ( it's so easy).

3 to 4 oz cream cheese
10 to 12 green olives
1 T. mayonnaise
1 to 2 T. olive juice from the jar

I have one of those little Cuisinart choppers. I just throw everything in and zap it a few times till it is mixed. I start dipping with 4 or 5 celery sticks, and when those are gone, I finish with the pork rinds. The reason I switch to the pork rinds is because celery has a few carbs and I'm still on induction, so I have to stay under 20 carbs a day. Hope you like the dip!

YUM, Linda :)

Snow White, I eat pork rinds but I prefer cracklings because they are chewier and crunchier. Sadly, I can't find cracklings in Michigan or Illinois or Indiana or Ohio (I've looked) so I have to import them from Texas.

Another crunchy treat I like is spreadable cheese on unpeeled cucumber slices, yummy.

Okay, now I'm craving cracklings. Any Texan or other southerner out there want to send me a care package?

You are from NH, aren't you, Bean?

cracklings (noun) -
1. the crisp residue left after lard has been rendered

are at my local grocer. I will be happy to grab a couple of bags and send them out. I will also be happy not to eat them, YUCK!

Last night DH and I went to Hi Health, he wanted to get some Glucosamine, and see what low carb stuff they had. We got Vanilla Shake Mix, 2 carbs per serving (not net, just 2), low carb catsup, barbeque sauce and I got a bottle of Da Vinci SF Chocolate syrup (5.99 for the big bottle)with out having to mail order it from that online place. They had quite a few flovors. When I get off the Alex challenge, I am making a vanilla shake but adding the chocolate syrup! This week will be long now, but I think I have dropped 2 pounds so far.

Beanie and Kath - PM me if you want the cracklins, OK?

The SuperWalmart in Richmond, Indiana had the BEST cracklings! I don't remember the brand... if I remember tonight, I'll look. We don't have a SW around here... that's about the closest one, but if you do, maybe give it a look. They were a new item, and were out in the middle of an aisle. Sooooo good.

Yoders usually has cracklings, too. If you've got Yoders at Krogers, have a look - that's where I've seen them.
