Hi! Welcome!
The best advice I can give you is to get the Atkins New Diet Revolution book (under $5) and read the first three chapters.
But basically, the first two weeks is called Induction, and it's a cleansing process - where you will be cleansing your body of all the excess sugars/carbs. You will stick to 20 carbs per day. During that time, you are allowed to eat meat (unlimited), cheese, eggs, and 3 cups of vegetables a day. Vegetables include lettuce, cucumbers, broccoli, green beans, cauliflower, radishes, celery, mushrooms, tomatoes, and most other green vegetables. Stay away from carrots, corn, and peas. They are high in sugar.
After those two weeks, you will slowly add more carbs back into your diet, in the form of healthy things, like vegetables, berries, and nuts.
The first few days, you will probably have a slight headache and feel a little under the weather. This is because your body is going through a withdrawl from having no sugar! It's a good thing! After the first few days, you will start noticing how good you feel, you'll have more energy, and you'll sleep better! Atkins is a very healthy diet, and you will definitely know it by the way you feel!
Good luck! (To get your own screen name, go back to the main Discussion/Forums page and register).
