Atkins frustration, not losing...

I personally think your stall was caused by overeating on the carbs. There is a big difference between a bar with 14 carbs as opposed to 2 net carbs. I don't know how you could include a bar into your daily menu and still remain under 20 carbs. That would only leave you with 6 carbs for your remaining meals & snacks! Dr. Atkins states that during your induction, the majority of your carbs should be from veggies. Focus more on eating healthy carbs as opposed to those carbs from sugar alcohols.....at least for 2 weeks. Then you can maybe include a bar once or twice a week if you really love them and can't do without them.

I too am an extremely slow loser and have been at a stall for the past 2 months playing around with the same 2-3 pounds (up and down and up and down). On Monday of this week, I've gone back to just eggs, meat, and veggies, very limited cheese, & yogurt; and my weight has finally begun dropping again!! (YEAH!!). Next week I'll go back to adding one thing at a time (first will be peanut butter, then the next week I will try additonal cheese, but I have a feeling this may be an additional "staller" for me).

Thanks again everyone.
I'm gonna try to avoid the processed low carb foods and see if that makes a difference. So far today I have had coffee (with that Carb Countdown chocolate milk for sweetener, but i think I'm gonna ditch that tomorrow), omelet (eggs, cheese & ham), grilled shrimp with butter and a few strawberries with heavy whipping cream. I've only had two glasses of water so far, guess I need to run go drink a glass. Tonight I'll have a baked chicken breast and spinach, maybe some sugarfree jello and cream.

I must admit I was eating a lot of processed low carb products when i started thinking abot it. I had eaten those Atkins bars before when i did this diet for breakfast and I just didn't have this problem. But, then I wasn't also eating the low carb bagels, etc.

We'll see...

What does everyone use for breath mints?

I read through and I'm not sure your Sucralose question was answered - it's the same as Splenda or what Splenda is made of or the sweet sister of Splenda. Anyway, it's the same thing and fine to have in small quantities. It's the -ol sweeteners that can cause gas - maltitol, sorbitol, dammitol (just kidding). I gained 3 lbs the week I ate 2 Endulge bars and that scared me off them for a long while. I ate strawberries this week too - not sure how great that is but I just keep thinking what kind of treat I would have had in the past and how this is so much better. Believe me, I will miss your low-carb treats as much as you will, but I really think you need the boost to start losing again. It's a small sacrifice for a greater gain (and loss!). Let us know how you do!

It is now 6:30 and interestingly I am craving something sweet badly! I haven't had cravings in weeks. Am I already in withdrawal (LOL) from not having my daily Atkin bar or is it in my head?!?

Also, please share what brand gum you are using. I'm afraid to chew that Orbit again, but with Atkin breath and my compulsive need to eat I really liked having gum on hand!

If your Orbit gum is only 1 carb without any deductions than I'd say it is fine - just make sure to count it in your daily carb count. But I would think 1-2 pieces a day would not stall someone. Since it's sweetened with Splenda/succralose, make sure you count it in your Splenda allowance too (I think 3 packets daily?)

I've been chewing Trident but I limit myself to only 1 piece a day.

Way to go!!! I am SO excited for you!! 2 pounds in 2 days is AWESOME - hope that rate continues for you! I know how frustrating it is when you hit a plateau and can't lose. So glad you have broken through!! You must feel GREAT!! :)

My first 20 pounds came off pretty easily in 2 months. Then I discovered Atkins shakes, and I am addicted to them!. I haven't lost any weight since Thanksgiving, though I've maintained my weight loss. I know I should kick the Atkins shakes habit...they are expensive too!

Do you know, when I began Atkins I regretted that I live in a low-carb-product-free zone and made a list of things that I would buy when I visit the States next, or things that I would ask people to bring with them when they come to visit us. But the more I read on these boards, the more I have come to realize that I'm lucky I don't have the option to buy processed foods. I have heard over and over that when people eat the bars or whatever, that their weight loss either stalls or they start to gain. Someone once said that soon, with so many low-carb products out there, it will be possible to eat low-carb and never lose a pound -- just like with all the low-fat, more sugar than before products that roared into supermarkets when a low-fat diet was all the rage. The Atkins plan was originally conceived as including only whole foods like meats, eggs, cheese, vegetables, some fruits like berries and melons, and good fats like olive oil.

My advice would be to reread the book and do Induction again for two weeks, only eating real food and nothing out of a wrapper or box. Don't chew gum (easy for me to say, as I've never been a gum-chewer; Dr. Atkins advised chewing on parsley for ketone breath, or just brush your teeth more often). Drink tons of water. I would be heartily surprised if you don't see dramatic results in that time.
