I'm going to WDW for spring break . Where should I make PS's for? Every menu I look at I can't eat at! Help!!

No worries, sanddune ! It's perfectly possible to stay on Atkins while at Disney World.

I was there in January and had no problems. Mostly, I ate scrambled eggs for breakfast, sometimes with bacon, and then looked for a big salad for lunch. Columbia Harbor House has a fabulous salad with chicken, pecans, and pineapple (I picked out the pineapple). Or there is a chicken caesar salad at that big counter-service restaurant in Tomorrowland -- am I thinking of Cosmic Ray's? The food court thing at Epcot also has a huge garden salad. The Brown Derby at Disney/MGM has an incredible Cobb salad, and you can have them add chicken or shrimp. For dinner, I looked for meat and vegetables. My only issue was if I got hungry for a snack about mid-afternoonish. You could bring along several bars, for example, to keep away from the popcorn, which just smells far too good.

There are sugar-free desserts to be found if you look, but I was on Induction while I was there, and so I just didn't go there.

Lucky you!

I have been looking thru the menus on allearsnet.com and there are quite a few restaurants that serve nice meat/fish entrees with vegetables. Especially salmon! Just tell them not to bring the starch!

And there is a grilled chicken salad available all over the place!

Oh - I saw at the Concourse Steakhouse in the Contemporary that they had a grilled steak salad available for dinner. That would be different!

It's ps time for me because I'm at the 90 day window and I've made a ps at several buffets for breakfast and just made one for Garden Grille in Epcot. I figure I can eat the meats and I'll ask for the veggie platter plus when I made the ps I found out they do have a sugar free dessert, all I have to do is tell them I want it when we check in. I know there are a couple of other places in Epcot that have sugar free treats too.

I don't think you'll have any problem staying on plan at Disney. I even plan on having a hot dog at Casey's (not eating the bun of course).

Have a great trip and please let us know how you did when you return!

'Ohana is a great low-carb option. Lots of great grilled meat.

Had a wonderful low carb meal at LeCellier/Canada/Epcot. The bakery in Norway has a devine sugar free chocolate mousse...don't know the carb count (as sugar free doesn't necessarily equate low carb) but if you want a treat, it's a good option. There is also sugar free cheese cake at the breakfast/bakery/sandwich place in the front of Epcot (sorry, never can remember the name of the place) and also at the bakery on the Boardwalk.

If you are feeling strong, the buffets are your best bet. Breakfast you can have eggs and all kinds of breakfast meats, you just have to overlook those other temptations. Also dinner has protein and veggie options, but you've got to walk past the dessert table.......so just go there when you're 'in your power'!

I carried snack size zip lock bags with 1 oz servings of nuts for when I needed a snack. Also "Slim Jims" are an option for snacks.

Many low carb WISHers have been to WDW without a cheat. Personally, I planed some 'treats' for my trip, since it was my birthday and I'm a chocloholic! A suggestion if you do plan a sugar indulgence....do it at the end of the day (as opposed to, say, pancakes at breakfast) and it should have less impact on cravings. I've also tried 'Hellerizing' while on vacation. The Hellers' low carb way of eating allows carb (like pasta/rice/bread) consumption only during a one hour period of the day (a very simplified statement of their program!). This has worked for me in the past, and while I didn't loose on vacation, I didn't gain and had the opportunity to enjoy some special meals.

Have a wonderful time on your trip, and whatever happens, you'll recover or celebrate with your fellow WISHers when you get home!
