I guess I should tell you a little about us....
There is me - ::MinnieMo, DH - ::MickeyMo, DS9 - :earboy2:, and DS6 - :earboy2: (We will mostly eat anything.)
And our friends DF1 - ::MinnieMo, DF2 - ::MickeyMo, and DF's DD9 - :earsgirl: (Our buddies are pretty picky.)

SO....
Our first dinner was just us (DH, DS9, DS6, and me), and it was at

CRYSTAL PALACE
Our reservation was for 6:15 pm. We arrived at about 6:10 pm only to stand in line to check in for 20 minutes! (And I was 3rd in line!!!!!:scared1: ) After the long wait to check in we waited about 20 more minutes to be seated.

Our waiter was very nice and attentive. He quickly brought out our drinks and gave us advice on how not to miss the characters. I made the mistake of ordering iced tea. I knew that it wouldn't be sweetened, but I didn't expect it to have such a strong "Disney ice" taste. The ice always has a very strange taste to me, so I really did not like the tea. Our waiter was very nice about it and brought me a coke instead. He also brought our boys a refill on their milk. :thumbsup2

We had a character headed our way, but we were starving! So, I quickly grabbed a plate of bread and butter from the buffet. I'm not sure if it was just because we were starving, but the bread was REALLY good. Our boys had 2 pieces each.

The rest of the food was hit or miss.
Yuck: Macaroni, Green beans, Pizza
Average: Most of the buffet
Yummy: Bread, Salmon, Prime rib, Shrimp, Broccoli, Romaine and Bleu Cheese Salad, Chicken strips

I'd rate our meal a 7 out of 10. :thumbsup2

And we will definitely go back! I just wish they could work out the problem with check-in. I waited a really long time in line last year, too.

Total cost was $104.33 before tip.

Really looking forward to Marrakesh...we were there this past weekend and looked at the picture menu they have out front, man it looked soooo good that I might want to change more ressies around :lmao:

It looks like you ate at a lot of the same places we are in November. Can't wait to hear your reviews!:surfweb:

I'm so happy you spelled 'Ohana correctly! :rotfl:
Great first review -- looking forward to the others. I think 'Ohana is getting better reviews lately so looking to see what you felt about it! :thumbsup2

So, on our first full day in the world, we shipped the boys off on a pirate cruise. They did the one that leaves from the Port Orleans Marina and LOVED it! They both said that it was even better than the one they did last year at the CBR, and it was the highlight of the trip. :thumbsup2 They had lunch on the cruise - PB&J, Goldfish, Juice and I think gummies(?).

While they were gone, DH and I ventured into the

RIVERSIDE MILL FOOD COURT at POR for breakfast

We both chose the Create-Your-Own-Omelet which was served with potatoes
Mine had: Sausage, mushrooms, green peppers, onions, swiss cheese, and cheddar cheese.
DH's had: Sausage, ham, and cheddar cheese.

They use small cups for each item you choose to add. The girl looked at me strange when I asked for both cheeses, then she filled the cup with half of each. It really looked like it wasn't going to be enough, but I was wrong. They were very good. They made each omelet to order, but it went very fast. The potatoes were also good, they had a nice flavor. DH added a biscuit and muffin and paid OOP for them.

I chose an orange juice for my beverage and DH had a bottled water. When we got up to the counter to pay, the cashier said that we were entitled 2 beverages with each breakfast CS meal, so we went back for 2 more orange juices. :woohoo:

We are not big breakfast fans, but this meal was pretty good. Not worth a special trip, but good enough if you are staying at POR.

I'd give it a 6 out of 10. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the POR review! We are staying there and I haven't read or heard much about the food court there.

Our dinner for day one was

CORAL REEF
This has been a must-do for us for three years now. I always recommend that people try it.

When we checked in I requested a table near the tank, after a long wait we were seated on the top level - as far from the tank as possible. :(

The service here was very slow, but we were tired so the break was nice.

For drinks DH has Iced Tea, I had coke, DS9 had milk, and DS6 had a Strawberry Freeze. The freeze was in a kids cup with a huge strawberry on top. DS picked up the cup and the strawberry rolled off and under the table. It really looked like it was attached to the straw, but it was just balanced on the lid. We asked for another one, and it took about 20 minutes to get it. DS said the drink was very good.

We were served a basket of bread and butter shortly after ordering. My boys eat a lot of bread, so it didn't last long. I requested more (along with the strawberry), and eventually we did get another basket.

Both kids had the grilled chicken breast with fries, one had carrots and celery, one had apple slices, and both had a sundae for dessert. I tasted a small piece of chicken as I cut it up for DS. It was very juicy and tender. Both boys ate it all!!!! They also enjoyed the sundae. It is served with the ice cream in one bowl and little cups of toppings on the sides. The chocolate syrup and M&Ms were their favorites.

DH and I both had the Blackened Catfish with pepper jack cheese grits, smoked tomato compote and balsamic glaze. This was our 3rd visit, and we've always gotten the same thing. This year the glaze seemed a little heavy on the balsamic vinegar to me, but DH said his was great. It is a very spicy dish, not really a heat - just spicy. We love this dish and would get it again if we go back to Coral Reef.

We both had the Chocolate Wave with brandied cherries for dessert. The cherries were so strong with brandy that I thought I was going to get drunk! They were not very good. DH even commented that he thought they had been soaking too long. But, the rest of the dessert was HEAVENLY. :cloud9: Dark, rich, oozing chocolate cake....:faint: Soooooo good.

Our waitress was very nice here, but the service was slow. The atmosphere just isn't the same when you have to sit in the back. I think Coral Reef has lost it's magic for us, and we will try something different next year.

I'd give it a 7 out of 10. The food was very good. We are just ready to try other places.

Total cost was $87.13 before tip.

I'll try to get to that one tonight after work. It wasn't as good as I thought it would be, but still yummy. :goodvibes

Thanks for the POR review! We are staying there and I haven't read or heard much about the food court there.
We were there about 9:30 am, and it was VERY crowded. We had a hard time finding a seat, and when we finally did the table was covered in syrup. But, the food was good and the CMs were very nice. If you have some way of finding a table before you get your food, I would suggest doing that. ::yes::

Thanks for the reviews!

Our family is over the Coral Reef too. It was a nice novelty the first time we ate there but we think it's overrated.

It is so beautiful if you get to sit next to the tank, but the view from the top isn't worth it. In the past our kids had a blast looking for certain animals in the tank, but this year they played their DS games instead. It was too much like just having a regular fish tank across the room. :(
We've eaten there three times now, and we've had the diver hold up a sign for us, so I guess we've done it all.

Great reviews so far! We are also going to a lot of these places in December. Can't wait for more!
